Went in to replace a filling that had fallen out. I was concerned about the strength of the tooth and the possibility of it breaking in the future. So I asked if there was anything that could be done to build up and strengthen the tooth. The dentist took this opportunity to talk me into what turned out to be an unnecessary, and poorly fitted veneer that keeps falling off. I've lost count of how many times I had to go back to have it put back on. Sometimes it only stayed put for a couple days. It'd break off from biting into things as soft as a slice of pizza. They couldn't even be bothered to make sure my tooth and the veneer were clean and dry before putting it back on. Just slap some glue on there and stick it to my tooth. The glue they used wasn't even adhering to the veneer properly. I could chip it off the veneer with my fingernail. It was both the most I've been charged for dental work, and the poorest quality work I've received. Finally found another dentist to reattach it, and noticed that the reattachment was a much longer process when it's being done by someone who actually cares to do a good job. Moral of the story: Aspen dental cannot be trusted. They just want your money and do not care about the quality of their work. read more

Aspen dental Ellsworth dentist -Mary Jane Hanlon burned my face with acid while giving a filling. The burn has progressively gotten worse and have gotten nothing not even an apology from them. I will never be back and you shouldn't either. read more

This past weekend I bit down on a hard piece of bacon and, based on the sound it made and the pain I felt, I was convinced I cracked one of my teeth. I hadn't been to my normal dentist since before COVID, so when I called, they said they could assess things in a couple days, but would need to find a new patient slot for me if anything needed to be done. I then looked online and saw there was a same day opening at the Aspen Dental in Ellsworth, so I booked it. And I'm so glad I did... I waited no more than 10 minutes once I arrived and had the full new patient intake: x-rays, gum health, 3D scan, and dentist assessment. Thankfully nothing was cracked but I did have a chipped molar that needed filling. Megan the hygienist was great, and Dr. Ghanem explained everything thoroughly. At checkout, Amber saw they had a cleaning opening in a few minutes, so she offered it to me on the spot since I was already there. She also was able to get me in for a filling only two days later. Given how hard it is to get any kind of appointment these days, I was extremely thankful. Overall it is a nice clean office, with really nice staff and convenient scheduling. I couldn't ask for more in a dentist's office - highly recommended! read more

If you are scared of judgment from a dentist, run the other way. Dr Hanlon told me to get a second job to pay for orthodontics and "If I was watching TV at night, I had the time to do it". They have zero time management and do shoddy work. Many other dentists in the area take walk in emergencies and there's a real low cost clinic in Bangor. Go anywhere else, avoid this place like your mental health depends on it, because it does. read more

I'm shocked, but not surprised, to find that this place has an average of one star on Yelp. I went there twice (this was in 2021) and had a bad experience both times. I decided not to go back. The first time, when I went for the x-rays, as I was sitting there with my mouth open, unmasked, in the clinic, the dental hygienist went off on a very unprofessional little MAGA rant about how covid was just the flu and she wasn't taking any precautions outside of work. The dentist who examined me seemed amazing, very smart and competent, but then I found out later he was just visiting from another dental practice far away to cover someone who was on vacation. Then when I went back for the actual extraction, the oral surgeon I got didn't seem very competent, and ever since that extraction I have had nerve damage in the tooth next to the one that was extracted. read more

I was on my way to my first appointment and they called me 10 minutes before my arrival, after a 40 minute drive, to cancel and reschedule. I had also taken antibiotics prior to the visit because of a hip replacement within the last 2 years. They could not reschedule me for another week. But this gave me time to read more reviews and I will not be going there for treatment. read more

They are impossible to reach by phone and they don't care. I have NEVER received promised call backs. Instead, three times I've had to make a 40 mile round trip there to make an appointment. That's ridiculous. I am absolutely unable to pay for the work I need done and they have no concept of that. I'm disabled and live below poverty level. I want to do as much as my insurance will pay for but I can't make a call to schedule any work. I can't recommend them to anyone in good conscience. read more

Twice in two months I had them schedule me an appointment and nobody ever bothered to reach out and confirm it the first time, so they cancelled the first one. For the second one, they just said it wasn't in their system. Despite me having confirmation emails when both were booked. :) Don't waste your time with this location. read more

I receive only annual cleanings so to have it be a painful and unprofessional is not only disappointing but anger-inducing; especially since I am 6 hours post-cleaning and my gum and teeth are aching. I want to first state this review is not directed at Dr. Ghanem, who is professional, proficient and caring. However, the unprofessional, insensitive, and over-dramatic behavior of his hygienist, Jeremy, is the target of this review. I will not go into details but in a nutshell, Jeremy (who did not introduce himself) began by providing a good cleaning despite a bit rough handling and gum poking with the mirror. After ignoring several low groans and my hand going up to my chin to indicate pain, of which I was trying to tolerate and not move, Jeremy began going at my bottom teeth like he was scraping barnacles off the bottom of a ship, the pain was unbearable. So I made a sound to indicate my discomfort and quickly raised my hand to my chin to indicate he needed to stop. Jeremy, never acknowledging my obvious pain and discomfort, accused me of "grabbing" his hand (therefore alleviating himself of any responsibility for the pain and possible damage to my gums that he caused). I have enough sense to know not to grab a person's hand when they are using a moving tool inside my mouth. This evolved into a few words exchanged (mine in a calm manner including asking why he had an attitude) and Jeremy throwing down his instrument and gloves, stating, "I'm done, you can wait here until I have management escort you out". I was flabbergasted at the hard turn the conversation and situation took. I waited five minutes before heading out to find out what was going on and if my cleaning was going to be continued, by someone else. Dr. Ghanem came in to hear my side of the story, he apologized and stated the incident would be addressed, but I stated it should be coming from Jeremy (even though I knew that wasn't happening). He stated he would make a note that I not see Jeremy for my next appointment and I told him I never wanted to see Jeremy again. One of my pet peeves with our society, is not holding people accountable in ways that matter and are transparent to others. I don't know if Jeremy was just having a bad day, didn't particularly care to work on a person of color, or is like this all the time but this incident was unacceptable and I am not sure if I will give Ellsworth Aspen Dental a 3rd visit next year. read more

I made an appointment over a month ago for a cleaning today. I show up ahead of time for my scheduled appointment and learn that the hygienist (Jeremy -- apparently the only one employed here) gave up my appointment to another patient because I didn't answer his confirmation call earlier this week. The girl at the front desk was very friendly an apologetic and told me that Jeremy said he called and texted my phone multiple times for confirmation. I looked back in my phone and have 1 missed call and voicemail from him just asking to confirm my appointment. He does not state that if I do not call back to confirm that he will give up my appointment. If I didn't want the appointment then I wouldn't have made the appointment. Bottom line this is horrible business practice. If he continues to do this, I can imagine he will lose many many more patients. Good luck Jeremy. 1000% do not recommend. read more

If I could give 1000 negative stars I would. I've had so many ridiculously bad patient care experiences with this company, and this is before even being seen. After showing up for my first appointment the requested 15 minutes early only to find they were "closed for lunch" see previous review...They have rescheduled my New Patient appointment several times, sometimes on the day of, the latest time they said "your appointment was scheduled on a Friday and we're not open on Fridays". Reader, I kid you not. Today I had an appointment scheduled for 2:30pm. I got an email a few days ago, requesting that I confirm my appointment by clicking a button. I did so. Yesterday I got a voicemail message saying that if I didn't call them back by noon to confirm my appointment, it would be cancelled. (By the way, they show up on my Caller ID as "Anonymous". I called them back and again, confirmed my 2:30 appointment. Today, just hours before my appointment, I decided to go ahead and create my online account with them. In doing so, I noticed my appointment was now scheduled for 3pm. Not 2:30 as previously confirmed. TWICE. I called the office and she said "your appointment is for 3pm. WE NEVER SCHEDULE NEW PATIENTS ON THE HALF HOUR." (All caps shouting mine.) I explained that I have an email from them confirming the 2:30 appointment, and that I called and spoke with someone IN THEIR OFFICE, YESTERDAY...YESTERDAY!!! Confirming the 2:30 appointment. Her response was "you are welcome to come in at 2:30 but your appointment is scheduled for 3." Are. You. Kidding. Me.??? I am so done with this circus. read more

Billing department is apparently incompetent as after a year have not billed correctly to our insurance and not one phone call in at least six months so thought the problem was fixed after we got the human resource department involved to help figure out why insurance wasn't paying, found out Aspen Dental did not respond with requested information we give proper forms and explained what needed to be done. Heard nothing back from Aspen so assumed bill was paid. Today we got a notice that it has been placed in collections. WHY not one phone call or bill sent to us in the mail. Why did they not follow directions and bill correctly with the requested information? I have heard from others that this is a common problem. Not impressed with the quality of the dentures either. The estimate was way off from the final bill as well. Overall this has not been a good experience and would not recommend this company to anyone, even my worst enemy. AVOID this business. read more

I am incredibly stressed and anxious due to Aspen Dental. I went for a x-ray to find out why my jaw and teeth pain was getting increasingly worst. The scan was done and due to the problem being with my wisdom teeth needing to be removed they sent me a breakdown of the payment and immediately put me on a payment plan, which cost $50. I cancelled my wisdom teeth removal with the office manager and payment plan which is through healthcare finance direct , WHICH STILL HASNT BEEN CANCELLED! I had contacted Aspen Dental in Fairfield Conneticut more than 8 times regarding cancelling the appointment and payment plan as Healthcare finance direct had said that it cannot be cancelled without Aspen Dental contacting them directly about the cancellation of the appointment to confirm otherwise They'll still debit my card with payments of a surgery that I didnt have with them ! to top it off I went to a oral surgeon who had misdiagnosed me due to the office manager sending me another patients scan instead of mine! so the oral surgeon charged me for a consultation that didnt diagnose me due to the x-ray not being mine!! The oral surgeon had mentioned a few things such about my teeth and mouth in general that didnt make sense at all as in the x-ray a tooth was missing, the oral surgeon then realized that my nose ring and molars were not in the x-ray as i had never had any teeth removed at all. I am incredibly anxious financially and emotionally due to Aspen dental not sorting this out. read more
