There is no help for you after you get your dentures. They just want more and more money. Very unsatisfied with the follow up care. My dentures never did fit right and I was told I would get used to them. I don't have $500 to get them relined. Very unhappy. read more

This is a review for an urgent/emergency visit. My general dentist is in MA and I found myself woken at our home in Maine with a searing toothache. After a number of calls to local dentists I found myself out of luck, no ability to get seen by a dentist. I then called Aspen Dental in Thomaston, ME and they said they accept walk-ins for urgent care. Yea!! So off I went to give it a try. Overall, a stellar experience for urgent care. Checkin was easy and the lady behind the desk and the business manager were very nice and welcoming. I waited about an hour to be seen and I felt like that was quick given they are trying to fit urgent care into the schedule. I was taken for an X-ray and then seated in an exam room. Dental tech was very nice and doctor as well. I got my answer and they called meds into my Maine pharmacy. I walked away with copies of the X-rays and a referral for further care. Well... If you're in Maine and happen to have a tooth emergency on a Friday night, you're stuck with Aspen Dental. They had an opening for me on a Saturday, but the website didn't mention that there was no guarantee of service. I had chipped a molar (something it would take my dentist less than an hour to fix) and they were only able to "smooth out" the tooth during my appointment. I really wish the website had mentioned this when I made the appointment. read more

My daughter, who went here* for a simple tooth cleaning, was advised that she required $5,000 of periodontal treatment. I sent her to my own Portland dentist who, after examining her mouth, said no treatment whatsoever was required (two years later, she still doesn't and probably never will). My dentist said he was embarrassed by the presence of people like this in his profession, but I assured him that, as an attorney, I've learned that every profession has a certain number of charlatans and crooks. Stay away. * I just noticed that Yelp offered up this business to review based on my address, but I didn't check to see what town this particular office is located in. My daughter's experience was in the South Portland branch, near the Maine Mall. If Aspen is a franchise, then this Thomaston shop may have different and better management. Still, if the South Portland office is approved by Aspen and allowed to operate under its name, I'd be wary of any of its branches/franchisees: Aspen clearly has no standards of care, and no supervision. read more

My son's had a visit about a year ago and it went very well. Dr. Yoo and his staff were excellent. Just today I tried to schedule an appointment and they said they don't have a dental hygienist. I explained to her that I need to schedule check-ups for my whole family but she said the same thing; "I'm sorry but we do not have a dental hygienist at this time" and didn't offer any future appointments. You can't get in to see a dentist anywhere these days. And haven't had a check up for years. read more

I had the same experience other people reported about trying to make money for unnecessary procedures and hidden charges. They wanted to charge me $130 for an electric toothbrush that I did not request and was not aware would be on my bill. I just wanted a cleaning. As they continue to not have a hygienist available near my home, I drove an hour and away to get a cleaning. They told me I had to get an expensive procedure and WOULD NOT just do a cleaning. They had me sign a form that stated they had found gum disease and that I needed more than a cleaning. To add insult to injury, they told me I would have to come back two additional days to do the procedure. I had a similar experience years over twenty years prior at a different dentist. I did not get the procedure done at that time. After that, I went to many other dentists who said that I don't have disease and did not need that procedure. Getting your teeth cleaned should not be like buying a used car!! The real kicker is that I pay a high premium for dental insurance and they are the only office nearby that accepts my dental insurance. I waited months for the appointment. I'm going to out of my insurance plan and pay out of pocket. Find a different dentist unless it is a true emergency! read more

Don't go here! A complete rip off and a practice trying to make money by doing unnecessary procedures. Similar to a review below, after a ton of x-rays and a very cursory review of about 5 minutes by a dentist, I was told I have periodontal disease. My long time dentist in another state said that 6 months ago, no periodontal disease was present! This practice wanted to do a "deep cleaning" (billing my insurance company an exorbitant amount). When I told them I just wanted to do a regular cleaning, they REFUSED! I told them I am the patient (it's my body) and that I didn't want this procedure. Their office manager gave me a line of BS that they can't "by law" do a regular cleaning if they have ID'd "periodontal disease". That the insurance company won't let them! Imagine going to a cardiologist and having him/her insist that you have a heart transplant even if you didn't want one. This is a practice that is only interested in making money. Not in your dental care! ***I just spoke with the insurance company to discuss Aspen's refusal to do a regular cleaning because of the office manager's claim that "insurance would not permit it". Cigna told me that is NOT TRUE! They will process claims based on bills that are submitted to them! NOT PROPOSED SERVICES! read more
