I would not recommend!! My experience has been horrible as a new patient. First they cannot receive emails from previous dentist so x-rays can be forwarded. Are we not in the 21st Century?? Second, I was told that a full mouth x-ray would be covered by my insurance but they are only covered 1 out of 5 years. Office person looked up my info through MetLife and he said I was all set. come to find out it was not covered and I had to call my insurance to find out why. isn't that Aspen's job to know? He looked it up and misinformed me before the x-rays done. I called their billing office from the bill I received 3 times. 2 times I was blind transferred to the Bangor office and was told I would get a call back. The 3rd time it was supposed to be an official request for a call back within 2 business days. I called on business day 3 and was informed I was responsible for the bill. So for their incompetence by not being able to receive emails and not returning calls or picking up the phone I am stuck paying a bill because it was beneficial for them to have the x-rays taken that first appointment intake review. I will never go back to Aspen Dental again and would strongly suggest no one else does either!! read more

Aspen dental...while it may be a legitimate company is a SCAM!!!Their ONLY concern is how much money they can make off patients. All I wanted was a cleaning. They hook you in...give you an exam before cleaning only to tell me I have periodontal disease. It would cost me an extra $1,500. They will not do the cleaning unless you fall for this very shady technique called scaling and antibiotic treatment. Coincidently...I do not have periodontal disease!!! Rude and incompetent. Went to get a cavity filled. I felt them drill into the root which killed my tooth over time. They also will likely try to overcharge you. I was told to have a wisdom tooth removed it would be a certain price. The bill added a consultation fee. The only consultation at that appointment including, "good morning", followed the the extraction, which he messed up, leaving a piece of tooth in. They said go to the ER if you want it out, then charged me full price plus a consultation fee. When I complained, they told me not to come back. Do not go here, ever, for anything. I have a long list of issues though these are at the top. They made me pay cash, full amount after appointments even though my insurance covers 100%. Never did I get a dollar of that back. read more

I needed a denture repair and these guys were the earliest appointment I could get. I called on a Monday and was scheduled for 9am Friday, with the person on the phone asking a few basic questions in advance. They said to be there 15 minutes early. The follow-up email I got to confirm my appointment talked about getting xrays, doing a consultation, and an examination. I figured it was just a generic email they send out patients. I got a call the day before my appointment from the office to confirm my 7am appointment. She said to be there by 6:50 to do paperwork. I told her that my appointment was supposed to be at 9, and she said all they had available was 7am. What am I gonna do? I say okay, and she tells me there will be xrays and stuff. I tell her that I just need a denture repair and all the rest isn't necessary. She told me that denture repairs don't need an appointment, but that nobody would be in the lab on Friday anyway. If I wanted them done same day, I'd have to come in and basically hope that they finish before end of day or I'd have to wait until Monday. So I ended up going in that day, a day earlier than planned, but 3 days later than I would have liked had I known I didn't need an appointment in the first place. They also told me that repairs start at $49, but there would also be a $29 consultation fee. Well, there was literally no consultation. The receptionist asked for my name and birthday, told me it would be $267, then had me sign a tablet before leaving my dentures. Paying at dropoff or at pickup was optional. Called around the time of my pickup to confirm they were ready and the woman on the phone just had a snarky attitude like why is this guy calling? When I picked them up, the receptionist saw me and handed me a little black bag, which had a ziplock bag inside that contained my denture and some water. There was no "thank you", no "have a nice day", just a friendly "yup" when I said thank you. It was like they didn't even want my business. The whole experience overall just felt like I wasn't appreciated as a customer at all. My last repair, at Bangor Denture, was a totally different experience. The gave me a set price over the phone without even looking at the denture, reception seemed actually happy in general, and they actually had me go into a room out back with a dentist or lab tech and make sure it was a good fit after they fixed it. All for just over half of what I paid at Aspen Dental. If you need denture work, go to Bangor Denture. Had high hopes, but that whole situation was a mess. read more

I have been waiting for over a MONTH for a response from their customer service about giving an appointment for a cleaning to my husband back in the spring for September, only to be told he was not on the schedule! He even had the card to prove it!! They did NOTHING to help him and claimed the next available appointment wasn't for another 6 months!!! Emailed corporate and got the automatic reply with promise that someone will get back to us soon! It has been over a month and still nothing! The bad review isn't for the actual work, but not finishing what they started and not getting an appointment. I put over $5000 down toward implants and it's going on a year and they won't schedule me to finish the job. Bangor only has once a month a dentist coming in for it. They said for ME to call Augusta and I've called 3 times,put on hold then they disconnect me. They keep taking new patients but don't take care of the ones they have. I got a set of dentures quite a few years ago and to this day can't use them at all and I went somewhere else to get them fitted properly and the dentist I went to to have that done started to laugh and told me where I got them before I even told him who made them. So he tells me that there's not much he can do but he will see what he could do he did what he could but to this day I can't wear them with out a mouth full of fixdent and even then the minute I try to eat with them they just fall the hell out of my mouth right. So I feel that I got ripped off and I would never recommend aspen dental to anyone after this experience I can tell you that right now. read more

The staff is general pleasant and competent. I haven't had any problems with the procedures until now and it is related to their computers being hacked a couple years ago, when all their records were frozen. I couldn't get in for a teeth cleaning because they couldn't find my appointment. Then they lost their hygenist and I developed gum disease by the time everything was back to normal. My latest appointment was a follow-up for teeth cleaning, only I was charged for a perio maintenance, which I was not told previously. And that appointment had no special treatment, no gum work, etc., but I had to pay more than $100 as insurance doesn't cover perio maintenance. Aspen Dental never explained this. Their communication skills are terrible, and their billing is confusing. I don't think patients should be kept in the dark and treated this way. I will be looking for another dentist. read more

Very nice people over all but I felt like I was getting scammed, the doctor told me I had a cavity then when I asked her to point it out on the x-ray she got defensive. Also the last who was cleaning my teeth told me that she likes to keep the plaque that she scrapes off patients teeth and even asked if I wanted to see it. I had a sore gum that I wa concerned about while traveling and want it assessed. I scheduled an appointment and was seen as scheduled. The dental assistant initially wanted to do full X-rays but I explained that I just wanted my specific concern addressed. Dr. De Oleo assessed my sore gum, concluded it was faint ro heal and that there was no underlying issue. Because we would not be home for 2 months, she did prescribe Amoxicillin in case I had a flare up of the issue. There was no charge. Dr. De Oleo did a great job of addressing my concerns. read more

Instead of focusing on the reason why I came in, the focus was on selling their products and services. The staff was pleasant and the technology was cool, but those were about the only positives about the place. For a simple sore, I was made to think I needed to buy a new electric toothbrush, mouthwash, get multiple cavities filled (which weren't there 6 months ago with my family dentist), my permanent retainer removed, top and bottom retainers fitted, and a deep clean... all totaling over $3000. I searched and searched for a place in or near my city for months because I needed extensive dental work done but needed a dentist that would allow for payments that could be made instead of all one lump sum; I wouldn't be able to afford the dental work any other way. After having little to no luck finding a dentist who could help me, I went to my pc's office's Patient Care Coordinator to see if she knew of any places that could potentially help me; after weeks of waiting and calling, she finally got a referral to Aspen Dental and to say that I was happy to learn of Aspen Dental, would be putting it mildly. I set up my first consultation appointment for March 20th 2018 at 1pm; my only day off during the week; I wrote this date down in bold print with a marker, I was not going to dare to forget this date. The 20th of March came and with fiancee, we drove 3 hours down from Presque Isle, ME to Bangor, ME. This day was months and years in the making. As we pulled into the parking lot, I felt so excited and nervous at the same time. I walk in, sign in and, was then asked what my last name is. After a few minutes I'm asked, "What time is you appointment?" "1 o'clock" I'm asked to have a seat. After a minute or 3, "Ma'am, we have your appointment for next week the 27th at 1o'clock." I said, "I called just a couple of days ago and confirmed my appointment is for day!" I'm asked again to have a seat. Few minutes past by, "We can squeeze you in at 3:45pm if you want to go back home and come back?" "That doesn't work for me. I live in Presque Isle." I repeat myself and said, "I called and confirmed the date of my first appointment was for today at 1pm. I really don't instead how I confirmed the datejust says ago but I'm not called to be told the date needed to be changed rather the date is changed without my knowledge and I just wasted a day off on top of wasting gas only to be told I was wrong about the date. After that I called every other day to ensure my appointment was indeed for the 27th at 1pm and nothing has changed that. My appoint came and went without a hitch. Skip forward to 2 days ago, I'm ready for extractions. I forgo on the being knocked out because I can't afford it; after my experience, I highly recommend that a local to be offered or laighing gas because the procedure I had done on me and the pain I'm in is so bad. Along with not having a little help to relax my body as a whole would made my mouth less traumatized. The doc's bedside manor needs reboored too. I'm not saying I don't recommend Aspen Dental, I do very much recommend them; aside from the hiccups, Aspen Dental seriously is reconmended!! read more

I came here a couple years ago for a second opinion on three fillings that a then-new dentist had recommended I get. (The cavities were showing up on X-ray but not the physical exam, hence my hesitation.) In order to receive an unbiased opinion, I didn't inform Aspen Dental of the previous diagnosis. The first dentist did not diagnose me with any other dental problems, save for slight periodontitis. The dentist at Aspen Dental tried to tell me that I had 13 cavities and needed over $3,500 worth of dental work. This included a diagnosis of periodontitis SO SEVERE I had to sign a waiver that I had been informed of my allegedly life-threatening condition. Oh, and they billed my insurance for the supposedly free initial exam and X-rays. I went to a nice dentist in Waterville for a genuine second opinion and eventually had two of the three cavities done. My slight case of periodontitis was resolved with the simple use of mouthwash. I have not had any dental work since, and my twice-a-year checkups (with a reputable dentist) have not uncovered any subsequent problems. I'm sure this review will be shelved thanks to Yelp's "you said something *bad* about someone, mercy me!" policy, but if you happen to read this: beware, and GO TO ANOTHER DENTIST. I have never witnessed such a blatant attempt at a big-ticket scam from a medical practitioner in my life. read more

I had a good first experience, however, I planned to move mid December and the only appointment they had was for Dec 27th. I'm getting 2 crowns and didn't realize they took 2 weeks for the placement of the permanent crown. This is my only complaint. This will extend my move to January 10th. This place is the biggest rip off place. They did a front root canal and crown. Placed the pin at a wrong direction so the crown breaks off because of the crown angle. Tells me it will cost $4000 for Invisalign to fix the bite. Then tells me it will cost over $800. To have my teeth cleaned because of peri dental disease. I went to another dentist for a second option. I don't need Invisalign to fix the problem they did wrong. And I don't have any disease actually my gums and teeth look so good I only need to have my teeth cleaned once a year. read more

I scheduled an appointment two weeks prior for 2:30pm, to have a chipped tooth fixed. It was giving me pain and I took time off of work for the appointment. I showed up a few minutes before and signed in. The receptionist asked me what I was there for, which I was a little surprised she didn't know already. (I went over the issue when I phoned for the appointment.) I took a seat and the waiting room began to fill up. Three patients who came in AFTER me were called...I waited for 35 minutes before finally asking the receptionist how much longer I would have to wait. She disappeared, and returned, saying she spoke with the dentist, who was running late with the previous patient, and that it was going to be ANOTHER 30 minutes before the procedure was finished, AND ANOTHER 10-15 minutes to wash the room. She unconvincingly apologized and asked if I wanted to wait. My mouth just dropped open and I stood there gobsmacked. I asked, "Were you just going to let me sit there and wait 40-45 minutes longer without checking on me?! I can't wait because I have to get back to work. I made the appointment two weeks ago at 2:30. Why didn't anyone tell me about this before I came down? Or gave me a heads-up?" The receptionist flatly apologized again and asked if I wanted to reschedule. I said, "No thanks, because I am no longer a patient here at Aspen dental." Apparently, they have so many clients, they don't need my business. read more

I was quoted $79.00 to be my out of pocket cost for a peridontal deep cleaning. It was my first visit, and they never did check my insurance coverages, according to the insurance rep. They also tapped my Care Credit card for $2100 for crown work that I cancelled immediately after my second visit. My second visit was supposed to have been a peridontal cleaning, but was actually less than 30 minutes of scraping stains off my upper molars, nothing done on the lower teeth, and a fluoride treatment. It was my word against theirs. Now I owe $905.00 to Care Credit for work not done! I'm 65, and have had good peridontal scaling work, so I know what to expect. This was predatory financial practice, and dental malpractice. I'm hoping to join a class action lawsuit against this terrible company. Don't believe their website five-star reviews. I went in for the free exam (ONLY for the uninsured) and had a good experience. I have an implant that wasn't finished, and knew I needed another. They used state-of-the-art equipment for their x-rays and the staff was very pleasant. The dentist who saw me (Dr. Kim) provided a thorough explanation of what was needed for the implants. After the exam, I had a question about the first implant and she interrupted her lunch to come back and explain it to me. On estimated costs, their price to finish the first implant was a few hundred less than other dentists. The second sounds about the same, but others were without the specifics provided by an x-ray exam. Their costs for the treatment of my periodontal disease were high, but probably consistent with the work they were planning to do. Having had the disease for 50 years, and never receiving any suggestion for such treatments from other dental hygienists, left me wondering if their plan was over-kill. I'd probably get other assessments before proceeding. I checked out the reviews on their dentists and the ones I could find were all very good. However, Aspen Dental appears to hire new dentists who, after obtaining the required experience, move on to other practices. I'm looking to go to the same dentist for the few remaining decades of my life, so will go elsewhere. read more
