I recently moved to the area and needed a dentist and hygienist for routine dental care…read more Waterville Family Dentistry staff treated me well at my initial visit. However, the dentist and hygienist presented me with a plan to do deep cleaning and redo several fillings that were not causing any problem. The proposed work was for several thousand dollar! I attempted to reduce the amount of work they wants to do but they refused! My previous dentist, whom I visited twice a year for decades, would collaborate we me about my care. It is the patient's right to determine what is done on their body. It is called patient consent. I would not recommend this dentist to anybody.

I picked Waterville Family Dentistry because of the great reviews on Google. However, our first…read moreexperience was very disappointing. We had a dentist appointment for my 6 year old son and it went okay at first but, when we first met with the Dentist, Dr. Choe, he was not really child-friendly. For personal reasons, it was my son's first visit to this dentist and so he asked a lot of questions (on anything) to anyone because of his curiosity. But I can tell Dr. Choe wasn't interested in answering questions from my son but instead he just acted like he wanted to get in, get it done and go as soon as he's finished; which made an impression that he's not great with kids. His personality, professionalism and the way he talks is very bland for someone who works at a family type of setting. I was definitely not a huge fan of him! On top of all that, this dentistry is supposed to be a judgement free dentist. I certainly felt judged when they spotted cavities on my son's teeth and the dentist especially made me feel as if we weren't brushing his teeth very well (from his facial expressions and comment). Note: I am doing the best that I can to take care of my son's teeth everyday, twice a day! Overall, my son's hygienist was okay but not so much as the dentist himself. We ended up going somewhere else after the first appointment, since we didn't have a good experience. Honestly I would not recommend Waterville Family Dentistry to anyone with kids!

I then traveled much further south to another location, which was great, but quite a journey. After visiting the Waterville location, I'm pleased to say they are pleasant, and professional and I'll continue to give both my business and my recommendation.

Going of my first post regarding my experience with Aspen Dental in Waterville, Maine, I realized…read moresomething. I was told they are unable to fix my temporaries because they'd need a mold of my mouth and, because of the recent extractions and surgery, this is not possible. But...they HAVE a SCAN OF MY MOUTH ALREADY. A mold was NEVER DONE to begin with. So why is a mold needed? I DO NOT UNDERSTAND why new ones are not able to be created THAT LOOK and FEEL RIGHT, from this scan, that I can be satisfied with!! This makes absolutely NO SENSE! How were the first ones created? NOT FROM A MOLD! I do not think I'm being unreasonable to ask them to fix their mistake. It's not the discomfort of having dentures and the discomfort this entails, but the look and poorly designed structure for my mouth that I have an issue with. Rather than trying to help me be a satisfied customer, I'm told I'm going through a transition and that things will get better. For the amount of money I paid, I should be satisfied and proud of my new teeth. I should be helped to transition into my new teeth and look. Instead, I am extremely unhappy, miserable, in pain and depressed. I'm not sure what else I can do, but my friends and family agree that they are horribly done, look awful on me and all agree that Aspen should be decent enough to fix this, not try to placate and appease me. They all have been supportive and say they'll do what they can to help me fix this.

They told me my back tooth was destroyed with rot. A different dentist ended up doing the extraction. When I saw the tooth, it only had a cavity in it that could've been filled! Then, about 3 weeks later, get this; I'm feeling something under my gum where they pulled the tooth.. I finally picked at it and pulled out a geode sized shard. Now it doesn't hurt to chew on that side. Somehow though, like everyone else says, it seems unprofessional. I mean, the girls in the office are nice enough. And my dentist was normal.. except at first when I was trying to get in and he kept insisting that I wasn't allergic to a medication that I know I'm allergic to! I know and told them; I am allergic to that! But something's off. Honestly though I wish I never did it. The tooth never bothered me. I really think the dentist who recommended it to be pulled was being lazy about it. I've had cavities in my life and it looked the same. Like a cavity. I think it was in a pain in the ass spot and he didn't want to do the filling. At the back. I have no proof. I should've taken a picture. Oh well. I guess Ill find a new place. I used to go to a much better place for like 15 years but I got screwed out of that too. See at my old place they would have wanted to do a cleaning. Then, fillings. No extractions! Dam what did I do!

Peggy and Shelly who helped get me in a timely manner. Peggy was very hands on in scheduling. Most people do not care to go to the dental office, but this team makes you feel comfortable and right at home. Thanks again, Dr. Poirier and team!

Everyone is committed to making sure your teeth are going to be as healthy as possible, that there will not, I repeat NOT, be any pain or discomfort associated with ANY procedure*. I see Dr. Anna O'Keefe, who is always cheerful, delightful and has a marvelous sense of humor. There have been times I've come in with an emergency, and they've squished me in the same day. The fees are very reasonable and they accept a variety of insurance plans. Theirs is an incredibly modern and up-to-date office with the latest in all things dental - of course there are the digital x-rays including the panoramic films, and this amazing "instant tooth creation" lab thing that is in-house - I am doing a very poor job of explaining it. What took days and days in the past now takes about 30 minutes. The feature I like the most and get the most out of is the treatment plan. Both on a piece of paper, and on their computer screen (so the actual tooth's images can be viewed) you can see precisely what's going on with your teeth. Dr. O'Keefe identified what the triage, or urgency factors were in "fixing up" my oral health. Additionally, she tied it to a financial plan, so I could budget out what each stage of the treatment would cost. And EVERYTHING is explained in simple to understand language. As a former "abuser" of drinking soda pop, (24/7!), I only received positive encouragement from Dr. O'Keefe to discontinue drinking sugary drinks. (It was literally ravaging and destroying my teeth.) Instead of shaming me or trying to make me feel guilty, she simply encouraged me, gave me suggestions for healthy alternatives and offered support. Now I can still have an occasional soda pop, but I know "how" to drink it, and it's only once in a while. *I have the most incredibly sensitive teeth. Typically when moving to a new town, getting a new dentist and explaining please give me extra numbing medicine, I'm discounted as simply being a fraidy-cat. Then I get under-medicated and I scream with pain. Dr. O'Keefe carefully LISTENED to me, and acted upon what I told her, and from the git-go, administered the correct amount of pain medicine to prevent any discomfort, but not so much that my mouth was a numb, drooling mess for 12 hours. Additionally - this is the REALLY good part - even the hygienists can numb you up for your cleaning! For over 40 years, I've just endured the horrible pain of getting my teeth cleaned. Well, pain no more! Here they are more than happy to provide topical numbing agents for your teeth cleaning. What a wonderful difference! So: 1.) No, I am not related to anyone who works at this dental practice. 2.) No, I am not an employee at this place. 3.) No, I am not getting any form of compensation for writing this review. 4.) The only reason I am writing this is because good, honest, hard-working professionals deserve good reviews. It's kind of like 'passing it forward.' A social, moral obligation we have towards one another. :-)
