Brightly lit, well organized, and of course I gravitated toward the clearance racks. I was on the lookout for a rain jacket for an upcoming trip but wanted something stylish that I could wear as a layer on the airplane (I always get hot in airports and cold in planes so I have to plan layers accordingly). I found a DKNY short trench coat style black rain coat with hood, machine washable, light but water resistant, originally $75 for $40 on the clearance rack. Tried it on, loved it. (A convenient tall mirror was nearby in a column by the skincare items). Score! I will use it for years to come and it goes with everything. Long line to check out, but it moved fast. Marshalls has an automated system to announce which register is open so the staff don't have to yell "next customer!" in hopes that people are paying attention. The staff person helping me was efficient and helpful and I was overall in and out of the store in 20 minutes. I thought I'd have to find something online since my trip is coming up fast, but you never know how clothes will fit unless you try it on (jackets are less risky but still). The store was clean, organized, and actually easy to shop in, which is rare for Ross. The aisles weren't chaotic, the selection was solid, and it didn't have that overwhelming feeling you get at some other stores. Prices were great as always, and I found everything I needed without having to dig through piles of random items. I would absolutely come back based on the inside experience alone. The one thing that really threw me off was the checkout process. The cashier kept calling the next person in line even though the customer being helped hadn't fully cleared the area yet. You end up squeezing past someone who is still waiting on their receipt, and it creates this weird, awkward moment where nobody knows where to stand. It felt rushed and uncomfortable, and it's something they really need to fix because it makes the ending of the visit feel messy. The parking lot also gets a little sketch after sunset since the lighting isn't great, so I definitely prefer coming during the daytime. Overall, the store itself is good and I would shop here again, but the checkout flow and the nighttime parking vibe definitely need attention.

I was also looking for comfortable walking shoes that were somewhat water resistant and found a pair of lined Skechers slip-on shoes that were snug but not tight, very cozy, black, on clearance for $40. Perfect. Both of the staff at the checkout lanes in their respective departments were helpful and friendly. I think I even saw a manager on the floor, who bid me a good day, which was a nice touch. I kind of like the fact that the checkout counters are more centralized, one on each floor now, though it took getting used to. JCP feels more inviting, spacious, bright, and organized. I asked a lady by customer service where something was. I found it. Then we went back there and asked her where the next thing was, she told us, and we went and found, it so on and so forth. She told us when we are ready to check out to go to customer service and would allow us to bypass the long lines. My mom uses a walker, so it was greatly appreciated. Turns out she was the store manager... super nice lady! It's worth it to pay a little more than Walmart. Place is pretty nice inside.

The employee working, Jesus, was noticeably rude from the start. A mom and her daughter were ahead of us, and when she asked for popcorn, he abruptly told her to wait. When she tried to add a cheese pizza for her daughter, he responded with, "grab it and put it down then." They ended up apologizing to him before leaving, which was honestly surprising given his tone. When my boyfriend stepped up and greeted him politely, asking how he was doing, he replied, "doesn't even matter." He quickly scanned our breadsticks and gave us the total, but when we asked to add a couple more items, he said something along the lines of, "oh great, you guys aren't going to make my life any easier." He then tossed our food on the counter and told us to "have an okay f%#ing day." This was honestly shocking and not at all the level of service I've come to expect from this location. I hope this is addressed, because it really put a damper on an otherwise positive place I've trusted for years.
