I usually get very good second hand items such as staplers, hole punchers, DVDs, shoes, and board games. This location is actually my favorite place to shop for vintage film cameras (I'm afraid to post this because my fellow Yelp friends will be coming more to grab them before I do!). Today, I bought a good pocket minolta film camera, some stuffed animals, and some office supplies. The cashiers are sweethearts and are willing to help you look at items! The pricing was another thing that surprised me. A lot of the prices didn't really make sense for a thrift store and felt on the higher side compared to other spots I've visited. The atmosphere was just missing something. No cool decor, no personality, and overall the vibe wasn't there for me. It feels like it caters more to an older crowd, which is totally fine, but just not my style of thrifting. Also, no restroom available, which is always frustrating when you're shopping and spending time looking around. 4/10 for me. I came in and asked where the birthday candles were and the young man told me a long winded answer with rolling eyes like this "well(big exasperated sigh ‍) idk, but walk down the back aisle and look on the wall to the right if but look on the left and if not there then go try the other aisle and maybe you can find some because idk" ‍ I was shocked but willing and openly walked to the far back aisle and looked in all the areas he had mentioned and still couldn't find them. I ended up grabbing some other quick party supply items and got in line to be checked out. It was the same young man who was ringing everyone up. There was a line and I patiently waited my turn, when I began unloading my items onto the counter top, I gently smiled at him and said "how's your day going" he didn't even look up at me and said "not great, because people keep asking me questions" I was appalled and I just said "oh" and looked at the lady behind me who was up next and she was just as shocked because prior to me getting in line , I overheard her ask him if anyone was available to ring her up and I think the older man in the back was stocking shelves so this young man was the only one up front to ring anybody up. As soon as he went behind the register , he seldomly grunted and whined while ringing folks up. I thought I was just tripping but when I saw the look on her face when he made that comment, it became very clear her and I were thinking the sam thing and both equally alarmed at his lack of customer service or consideration. Now granted I understand, when your young in your early 20s you probably don't wanna be working at a convenience store but at the end of the day it is a job and a consistent one at that. A simple "welcome to dollar tree" upon entry and a considerate wave is not much to ask for in terms of greeting and customer service. But to then be told "not great, because people keep asking me questions" knowing all to well your the only person on the floor that is visible to the eye that is an employee lol well of course any and everyone in need of assistance will ask you some questions lol Work ethic on this new generation lacks eye contact and hospitality. Today was honestly one of the most uncomfortable shopping experiences I've had in a long time. I…read morewalked into the store with my purse just looking to grab a few items quickly, especially because the music was already so loud and overwhelming. Then, before I could even shop, I was told by the cashier that I could not enter with my purse and would need to leave it at the front. As a woman carrying my money, identification, and personal cards, I was not comfortable leaving my purse unattended. When I expressed that concern, I was simply told, "That's fine." At that point, I realized the experience already did not sit right with me. I chose to leave the store, and unfortunately, I will not be returning. It's disappointing because customer service and making people feel respected and comfortable matters. I could have easily become a loyal customer, but first impressions are important, and this experience left me feeling unwelcome and uneasy.
