I never write Yelp reviews, but felt compelled to write one for Asma and her amazing team. I don't even know where to start - Asma is absolutely the best wedding planner and designer in the Bay Area and beyond. I found her on Instagram and fell completely in love with the weddings she had put on. She immediately (like, five minutes later) called me back and set up a consultation, during which she discussed my budget and let me know what was and wasn't possible. Wedding planning: A huge priority for myself and my then fiance was to be able to enjoy the wedding planning process and the wedding day itself. Thanks to Asma, she took care of EVERYTHING - from selecting and coordinating vendors, helping us find and nail a venue, flagging issues we never would have thought about, and making sure the day itself ran smoothly. All we had to do was say yes/no, and she took care of the rest. Most importantly, she did this while also navigating two very different cultures (me being Afghan, my fiance being American) with grace and ease. Wedding day: Five days later, I'm still receiving text messages from friends and family about how incredible this wedding was - all thanks to Asma and her team. First of all, the flower arrangements were out of this world. Multiple guests commented on the flower arrangements alone - she truly made our wedding look like a fairy tale. Secondly, the furniture, cutlery, plating, etc. matched my vision perfectly. She actually took my vision (which I already thought was at a very high bar) and went completely above and beyond. This review is long overdue. Asma was the 3rd person my husband and I went to for decor for our wedding. As soon as we walked in the door, we immediately felt this connection with Asma. She is the sweetest, most humble person I've met. We gave her an overview of what we were looking for, without going too into detail. I have seen her work in photos and in person. I honestly did not believe that I needed to get into details with her because her work speaks for itself. It was such a huge relief after singing the contract. My husband and I had one thing less to stress about. The day of my wedding, I walked in and I was blown away with her work. I couldn't believe that that was my wedding decorations! We spoke with Asma several times last year and thought she was very sweet. However something was very off bec we would continued to get brushed off or ignored when we would want to discuss officially our contract and what we wanted for our wedding. We even set up an appt to see her at her warehouse. Where she has another appt that took over an hour longer and we politely waited. Just to talk to her for 20 mins. She explained that she knows exactly what we want and she has the best workers and great promises. I gave up on her bec she kept ignoring us. Go to someone that will give you the time of day for your special day. If you have a gut feeling something is off. Our Wedding was 10.18.19 We found Asma on Yelp and my Wife and I were blown away by her creativity and eloquence. We were originally referred to another vendor by a friend, but the unprofessionalism and lack of creativity forced us to look elsewhere. Vendor after vendor tried to change our vision and were very money driven. Queue Asma for the save! She was very warm and welcoming as we met up at her warehouse. We never felt pressured and she made us feel like our vision can actually become a reality. We made a few adjustments, but the end result was immaculate. She and her team are super professional in that she had a team working on the inside for our reception and outside for our Ceremony. They came within the window specified for setup and finished before our Ceremony started. I planned to have a reception in San Francisco to celebrate our upcoming wedding in Ireland with people who couldn't make it and Asma and her team handled the overall aesthetics of the event beautifully. The space we rented was unique since it was an antique store and she transformed it into a romantic backdrop for us to celebrate with our family and friends. The flowers were commented on by so many of my guests and even the managers of the venue. The layout of tables and spaces to sit were really welcoming and impressive. The plates, linens and vases were really pretty and all came together well. I was happy to see succulents incorporated into the centerpieces since she heard I like them. If could give her a negative 5 I would. Sadly she over promised and completely under delivered for the most important event of our lives. My husband and I confronted her after the wedding with our contract, she said she would refund us for whatever she didn't delivery. Then she ghosted us completely! We gave her an entire year to do the right thing from June 2019 to June 2020, we received no check, no apology and nothing. She is not a good person otherwise she would not had taken advantage of our kindness. We should have none better since every time we would have a meeting with her and we discuss the details of what we like and we also included photos to help her understand better our taste, she would draw our contract and every single thing we talked about was left out as if she didn't even hear when we were talking during our meetings and I made sure that we to make several trips up to her warehouse to make sure she has every detail in order to deliver our dream wedding to us. My husband and I were happily married and are living a very happy life together however we strongly believe in karma and we're hoping she would do the right thing at least after the wedding was over! I should have written this awhile ago, but while I was an employee at the Palace hotel, I got to know of Asma's work and once I met her...I was totally I love with her style and her personality was ' whatever you want' and she meant it! Seriously, she is one of the most talented florists in the Bay Area. Her work can be modernistic, it can be simple, ornate...seriously 'whatever you want'. Asma does her research, knows what's in style, what she can get during different seasons. She has been in business long enough to have great relationships with her suppliers. Those savings she passes onto you. She worked with my tiny budget but still people were blown away by her work. The only thing I would say was that she was a little hard to reach sometimes. She provided helpful advice in the run-up to the wedding, took charge of the walk-thru and stage-managed every detail on the day of perfectly. Things came up on the wedding day that we simply could not have imagined but we just never had to pay attention - Asma anticipated most issues and the ones she didn't got fixed before we noticed. She just made everything smooth and graceful. Beyond this - she fun and accessible. We liked her personally and trusted her instinctively. We're not formal people but we try to be tasteful and we wanted our wedding to walk that same line. Asma understood that vibe and made decisions as we would of in her place. Hard to put a price on that. The choice between full-service and day-of coordination is hard - we (and especially my wife) would have saved a lot of time if we'd had Asma do the entire wedding. Our experience with Asma was truly exceptional. In 2008, Asma worked closely with us to create one of the most beautiful and talked about weddings within our various social circles. All the vendors she referred were just as exceptional as she was. We had an elegant, sit-down wedding at the Four Seasons in San Francisco. My fiancé and I first saw Asma's work when her team was designing a ballroom we were touring as a possible reception site. It looked beautiful, and my fiancé and I were immediately impressed. Fast forward about 5 months, and my fiancé were looking to secure a designer for draping and table linens. I remembered Asma from our initial venue visit. I was reluctant to contact her because as her work was so nice, I was convinced she would be out of our budget. I called to make an appointment to meet with her. She turned out to be more affordable than the initial designers we almost booked with. Asma also had many cost effective suggestions and she is very sweet. She even met us at the venue for a final "run through" to discuss final arrangements and expectations. One of the good things about Asma's Designs, is that they began setting up the night before. This made it easier for us and gave us more confidence that the design and linens will be at the venue in a timely manner. Although I was satisfied, there were some (important) shortcomings. 1.We had discussed purple up lighting for the stage against white draping. It was outlined in the contract and we expected it be executed. The white draping was fine, but no purple lighting. 2. The bottom of the stage was draped, as discussed; however the draping was poorly secured and the drapes were so transparent that you could see the speakers under the stage. It was as if the stage was draped, but at the same time, they weren't covered since you were able to see right through the material/drapes. My wedding coordinator also had to secure the draping because it was falling apart. As a result, our wedding photos of the stage don't look as put together as expected. read more

My wedding was October 23, 2016 at the Bentley Reserve in SF. I originally had my heart set on SF City Hall for my wedding venue and I contacted Asma because I know she had coordinated weddings there. She answered my million questions over the phone and gave me some really great insight, she also recommended Bentley Reserve as a back up, becs my husband was not fond of SF City Hall. This was all before I had hired her. Asma has been in the business for almost 20 years and this is with very little online presence, almost all of her business is by word of mouth, due to her great reputation and longevity in the business. I eventually booked Bentley Reserve and met Asma face to face and hired her. I want to preface this review by saying I am extremely picky and have been told by my dentist, hair stylist, seamstress and nail tech that I am their pickiest customer (it is the perfectionist in me). I have also had people turn down my business becs they said I stressed them out (weak people). So Asma definitely had her hands FULL. Asma was my day of coordinator and decorator/florals. We worked together on every aspect of the wedding, down to the tiny details. She was in charge of all of the vendors and ordered all my rentals. I felt her prices were fair and was able to negotiate some things after I price shopped. On most items her prices were market value or below. Asma and I were in constant communication. The two weeks before the wedding, when Id call her she would pick up before the phone would even ring! She was available 24/7. Asma went above and beyond in so many ways. She let me borrow some of her items for another wedding function I was having. She also pulled some strings and I was able to borrow a very beautiful and pricey wedding accessory from a top bridal designer and it saved me hundreds of dollars. My wedding was truly breath taking and EXACTLY what I wanted. I will be honest, I was a little worried becs Asma's prior weddings did not have the look/feel of what I wanted. But we went over photos and designs often and when I walked into my reception I was in tears. She NAILED IT!!! She is an artist and can basically create anything that her client wants. Her designs and florals are top notch and her prices are great. I feel like I got huge bang for my buck. There was an issue with Bentley Reserve and my deposit. Something that was going to cost my husband and I hundreds of dollars, due to no fault of our own. Asma worked with Bentley Reserve and myself to come to a fair and equitable outcome. Asma is a very kind person, almost to a fault. My wedding had some small hiccups and I wanted/expected her to be VERY firm (slap some people around) with the offenders (the DJ). Diablo, but the actual reception room needed help in the decorating department. Asma literally turned the reception room into a wedding wonderland: King's Tables, Chivari Chairs, the freshest/most beautiful flowers, uplighting, pipe/draping - UPSCALE designs that you will see no where else. As I finally got the time to place a review for Asma for the amazing job she did for my engagement on 01/18/2014 at the Dublin Golf Club, I noticed this shocking review of Shveta S. about her experience of an event she had back almost a year ago. I would have to disagree with you 100% about the description and rating you have given Asma. I am sorry for what you may have experience but to completely judge a person's character, personality and behavior based on how certain songs weren't played at your event or some gossip that took place amongst you and you in laws is completely unfair, inappropriate and fallacious. She is a wonderful, amazingly talented, brilliant person with a very kind heart who always looks to bring smiles of peoples faces. I have experienced that myself during my event to where she spent days working on a centerpiece I had wished to have at my event but couldn't afford to pay her for it and she presented that to me in the form of a gift. She is extremely affordable and works within your budget. My fiancé and I are very pleased with her work and our guests were astonished by her work and how beautiful and elegant the place looked. She referred me to many websites for items which I needed and never withheld any information. She made recommendations but allowed us to decide if that was in fact what we wanted. Asma saved me! I was going to work with another designer but she kept putting me off.. She had given me a verbal agreement and basically strung me along for three months and then two months before the actual date she tells me my date is booked. She also told me that if I didn't drape my venue, it would be too ugly. So I was freaking out calling these other places and the quotes were just so high!!! Finally I got connected with Asma. What I love about her, is that she doesn't count the nickels and dimes. I said I was looking to purchase Mercury tea lights - and she said, oh no worry you can borrow mine. She let me have three per table. Basically I paid just one fee - which also she gave me a Great price, much cheaper than those big companies. And I guarantee she would have done a better job too because she has a very artistic eye. She gave me a great price on chiavari chairs as well and let me use her awesome gold table cloth for my dessert table. Honestly, I am a person who can be taken advantage of if the person is very aggressive... But she was so kind to me and gave me much more than she could have. This took me very long to write and I apologize for that Asma!! I am sorry because the people were delayed in finding out how good of a decorator you were for my event. I had an event at Marriott on August 3rd and being the groom, I needed someone to take over the decoration. Asma did an excellent job in creating a room full of lights and glamour and she worked with me financially as well. She met up with me as much as I wanted to answer all questions and concerns which I am very thankful for. MULTIPLE people asked me who I got my decorating done with. I am recommending everyone to pick Asma for decorating. Not only did she do a marvelous job at decorating and working within my budget, but she also was very enthusiastic about it.
