Came here since my regular Thai place was closed for maintenance. The Atmosphere was really dark, we sat by a window so we got a little more light. The prices seemed a bit high. I settled on the sweet soy noodles with seafood and my friend got the red curry with tofu. Neither of us were very impressed with our food. It wasn't bad but nothing that excited me. The place overall was very forgettable. After we finished it took us a very long time to get someones attention to get boxes and our check. With other Thai places being very close (one across the street) I think I would opt for a different one. Overall not a bad experience. read more

This place was okay, we do have our favorite Thai restaurants that we regular but they were closed this day so we decided to try a new one. Over all I wasn't impressed, but I wasn't terribly unhappy either. Price wise it is more expensive than most Thai places I've been to. I typically can eat for 8-11 as I mostly only get cury but their prices were between 13-15$. The portions were about the same as others but flavor wise it wasn't my favorite. The service was mediocre, the food came out decently quick but having our order taken and paying took much longer than I feel it should have. The restaurant wasn't busy either just a lot of chit chatting, even after we made eye contact with the waitress and she signaled she'd be right over it still was a bit of a wait. Honestly, this is by far my favorite restaurant in downtown Gresham. I often use their food as a basis to compare the dishes of other Thai restaurants when I decide to venture out. It's that good. Their service is great, and their atmosphere is clean, spacious, and pleasant. They have great lunch specials and amazing appetizers. I love the shrimp spring rolls and the wonton soup. I always order pad Thai along with the yellow curry when I come here. I've mixed it up with other plates here and there and haven't been let down, but these two dishes are my staples. If you haven't been to downtown Gresham, go! It's such a cute little area where you can grab lunch here and head down the street for a drink or hit up a discount movie. Best pad Thai ever - who knew? Stopped here on a road trip on the way to Crater lake and it was a cute little neighborhood with some stores that were good for window shopping. It was nice that it opened early too so it allowed us to get on the road quicker. Great for large groups! read more

This was my first time trying Thai food. My experience wasn't the greatest. There was an issue with my food and I asked to have it remade. They offered no apology or any kind of acknowledgement that a problem had occurred. The remade Chicken Pad Thai was delicious and was enough for 3 meals. Great place in downtown Gresham to get a decent bite; fairly authentic Thai food with a good ambiance. Dining area is pretty nice and you will like the appearance. The lunch menu ranges ~ $7.50- 9 for most of the menu items and the portions are pretty good for lunch. Service is fairly good but some items are take longer than others. read more

We love Thai food with all of the flavor and spice. The Asian Thai Bistro in Gresham OR has lost the concept of how to prepare Thai food. We ordered the SP1 Lemon Grass Chicken. It was presented to our table with the chicken covered in a thick peanut sauce and fresh broccoli and carrots. The chicken was dry even under all of the peanut sauce. There was no lemon grass in the dish as the name would suggest. There was also no flavor of basil or any Thai spice present. The peanut sauce was probably from a can or jar since there was really no flavor of any spices that a fresh made sauce would normally have. The second special dish SP2 Honey Roasted Pork was presented in a watery broth that had no sign or flavor of Honey and the pork was obviously never roasted. The pork looked and tasted like it was drowning in this watery broth since early morning. It was dry and tasteless. Again no flavor of any Thai spice like mint or basil or even a chili. Again served with steamed broccoli and sliced carrots. Oh and there was a hard boiled egg on the dish that was cold inside as it just came from the fridge and dropped into the watery broth. The only saving grace was the Widmere bottled beers that had true flavor. SP1 and SP2 not very special $16.00 each, Two beers $4.00 each Total $40, no tip as this meal should have come with a refund and we didn't bother to finish either dish. read more

Had Asian Thai Bistro delivered via DoorDash and was pretty good. Large portions for the most part only the beef dish not so much in the beef was a bit chewy I did order right before close so maybe it was the end of the batch other than that we ordered the chicken pad Thai and Asian Thai rice with the pineapple cashews raisins and shrimp and it was delicious. I also ordered the salad rolls and the peanut sauce was great sometimes the peanut sauce at some places isn't that great but this was really good. I will add that it is a bit expensive but I'm willing to pay for something at a higher cost if it's good. I wish that the beef dish wasn't so dry and chewy. would I order from them again? absolutely! my order was around $54 and that's with the cost of their fees and delivery charge is only $1.99. read more

Asian Thai Bistro is prominently situated with a great location on Main Avenue in "Historic" Downtown Gresham. Their dining room's dark wood furniture and richly colored wall art seemed quietly relaxing to me. Whenever I go to any Thai restaurant, I almost always order salad rolls as a "benchmark" item to compare with other places. So, here, we ordered the Shrimp Fresh Rolls as an appetizer. They were really good...fresh tasting and crispy...plus the peanut sauce for dipping was heated up and warm, which enhanced it. We ordered Asparagus Panang Curry (with Salmon Filet) and Pan-fried Curry Noodles (with Chicken) as our entrees. The Panang Curry sauce was smooth, rich and delicious, and the salmon filet with it was really big. That piece of salmon was as big as what you'd get if you ordered a salmon dinner at a seafood place. The dish was excellently prepared. The Pan-fried Curry Noodles was also delicious and nicely prepared. It consisted of wide rice noodles and white chicken meat mixed with all kinds of tasty things such as egg, mixed veggies, cashews, fresh pineapple chunks, tomato, raisins, and curry powder, along with crunchy fresh bean sprouts on the side. Also, both entrees were brought to our table sizzling hot, and that shows how prompt and efficient the service was. I'm not an avid yelper but I was so impressed with this restaurant, the quality of their food and the super flavorful dishes that I had to leave a review. These are the dishes we ordered: Apps: *Thai Shrimp Tempura Soups: *Tom-Kha Soup - seafood combination Stir-Fy: *Spicy Eggplant - shrimp and tofu Chef's Specialties: *Chu Chee Catfish *Honey Roasted Pork Beverages: *Thai tea Their Thai Tea was one of the best I've had! You can order it in a 16 or 20 oz. It was sweet but also had enough of the Thai tea flavor. I absolutely loved it. The shrimp tempura came with a mixed salad with sweet and sour sauce. You can't go wrong with shrimp tempura so not much to report there and the salad was a delightful surprise. The Tom-Kha soup was one of my favorites. It was packed with so much flavor I had about 2 bowls to myself. The spicy Eggplant Stir-fry was also delicious. Tons of flavor loaded into this dish. We were pleasantly surprised with the Chu Chee Catfish. It's stir-fried with green beans, asparagus, chili paste, bell peppers and lime leaf. Again, tons of flavor! The Honey Roasted Pork was quite amazing. It's slow cooked so the meat was super soft. It reminded us of a hmong dish called nqaij qab zib which is a sweet, caramelized braised pork with eggs. It was so amazing, we all finished this dish first before any others lol. I'm from Seattle and was in town for a funeral. We dined in on a Sunday afternoon around noon and it wasn't busy at all. So, so delicious. The Thai ice tea was refreshing, but also very sweet. Helped to cool our palates, so consider it if you like your food spicy. We ordered the Tom Yum soup in a bowl. Certainly big enough to share. We split a drunken noodle, as well. Heat of 3, which had a nice note, but not overwhelming. We could have gone to a 4. Also had the chicken skewers with peanut sauce. I wish someone would of Yelped on this restaurant before I decided to go eat there. Lucky me. SoOoOoOoOo....I wanted some really good Thai food, but didn't want to go all the way into Portland to get some. My hubby and I decided to try Gresham since it has plenty of Thai restaurants on Main street, unfortunately we picked a bad one. The atmosphere was great and service was nice, but the food was really bad. We first ordered the appetizers of egg rolls and curry chicken skewers to share together. The egg rolls were small and greasy and the chicken skewers were just thin slices of chicken stabbed with a long stick. Whooo hooo. Nothing to talk about. Next, the main dish. I ordered the pad thai and my hubby ordered the red curry chicken with veggies.I hoped they would do better on the main dish, but I was wrong. I should of known better. If the appetizers are bad, don't expect the main dish to get any better. My hubby's dish was actually "ok". Nice and spicy with fresh vegetables. However.....my pad thai was the worst I've ever tasted. It was if they forgot to put the peanut sauce on and just soaked the rice noodles in a stale oyster sauce. The food here is delicious, very fresh and flavorful. They sometimes have trouble regulating the spiciness but that is common with Thai food. The indoor atmosphere is nice, very serene and inviting. I ordered a to-go order! Service was prompt and staff was nice. I got home and opened my food.....I ordered pad Thai with fresh tofu. They put the noodles in the to-go box, with sauce on the side? Tofu was definitely fresh, but just cubed it up & tossed it on the noodles. I was expecting it to be cooked a little. It didn't have enough sauce and was very bland. I wasn't expecting to have the sauce on the side, otherwise would've ordered extra. I've never encountered a Thai restaurant that didn't have everything already mixed together & I dress it myself. Let me just start by saying that my boyfriend has a culinary arts degree, been a chef for years, has worked in one of Portland's most elite restaurants, and has a keen sense of what a restaurant experience should be. I'm a thick girl who loves a good meal, and have been to all best places in and around the Portland area, and have traveled extensively (and eaten extensively) at some of the best restaurants around the world. We are the perfect pair to review a restaurant on Yelp, wouldn't you say? We both love Thai food, and have high standards about it, so when we agreed that this place is our new favorite that is saying something. The panang curry is absolutely heaven - literally the best curry on the planet IMO. And everything was super fresh! The Chinese eggplant in the stir fry was delicious - and I didn't even think I liked eggplant until my boyfriend made me take a bite of his, telling me it is so fresh and well prepared. The spicy beef salad was so flavorful and perfectly seasoned my mouth is watering as I am thinking of it. There was so much food, even my big tall man and this curvy girl couldn't eat it all! (Well... I MAY have finished it off as soon as we got home with the left overs, but we won't go into that) The restaurant itself reminded us of a fancy art gallery, with beautiful mural and art work. I'm a regular. I go to this restaurant once every other week (if not more). I love that food is made quick, has a strong flavor, and is hot out of the kitchen. I go for their lunch specials which are about $7.50 (see photos of menu). The portion is stinking massive (for lunch) and lasts two meals/lunches for me. They do all sorts of items from traditional Thai food, to fried rices, delicious curries, to Vietnamese noodle dishes; the menu is honestly massive. I normally get the rice with cashews, pineapple, and curry in it...its incredible! Or the pad Thai...its always a classic. Atmosphere is casual and calm and wide open. Its easy to have a meal with a loved one here and not feel intruded on by other people's dining. (Possible) Cons: Their waitresses are not hospitable and this could make them come off as rude, inhospitable, and total jerks. I want to believe that they do care, but, one time I sat with an empty glass of water for 20 minutes (cup was at edge of table for 20 minutes). I've seen other people experience frustration because of instances like this. I feel like at least par service should look to see if customer's glasses need refreshing. I personally don't care about service because I'm not afraid to ask or holler at an employee to help me out. Others would give this place 3 stars because of that, but I think the food is worth the visit, every time. Verdict: Food, always hot and delicious. Service, sometimes cold and insufficient for a pleasurable experience. If you don't need amazing service, this location is AWESOME for South East Asian dining. 1.5/2 Thumbs straight up! read more

Quite tasty! First time thanks to Yelpies. Staff was pleasant. Grandson had a meatball soup that he says he would order again. Tom Yum soup is nicely done although no rice came with it. We ordered a side. I was most likely profiled as a Geezer as I was given a mild curry. I forgot to mention my preference which is quite spicy. But is was still flavorful and delicious. It seems many Asians workers in restaurants are shy but when shown a smile appear friendlier. I would encourage anyone to give Asian Bistro a try. read more

We were disappointed, because the food was not as good as that served by previous owners of this Thai restaurant. Flavors were relatively bland and spiciness (heat) was extreme. I ordered 'Drunken Noodles' and explicitly specified "mild," but got a dish that was beyond my tolerance by a long ways. What were they possibly thinking? In retrospect, I should have sent the plate back. Others in our party were disappointed too, although able to eat the dishes they ordered. One, who likes extremely hot food, tasted mine and verified that it was far from "mild." There are certainly better Thai restaurants in the Portland area. read more

I decided to try Asian Thai Bistro today based on reviews I read. I have a cold and spicy Tom Yum soup is my go to. I ordered through a delivery app and my food was delivered about 40 minutes later than was originally specified. I was starving by the time my food arrived. Disappointed does not begin to describe my sentiments. The Tom Yum tastes like tomato dish water. Funny, as I only counted two pieces of tomato. It is so gross. Hardly any mushrooms at all. I'm used to plenty of yummy button mushrooms. Not a single piece of lemongrass, which is the main reason I get Tom Yum when I'm sick. I can usually taste fish stock, but this soup tastes like watered down Cambells soup. Not impressed and won't be back. Siri on SE Powell has the best Tom Yum in Portland. Everyone has a favorite Thai dish that they use to measure Thai restaurants by. For me it's red curry and pad Thai. The red curry isn't too salty or fishy and the pad Thai has the perfect flavor. Both dishes are great and every time I'm in town to visit family we come here. The chicken satay and peanut sauce are also wonderful. read more
