For tealeaves salad ingredients section
Ed C.

I have been wanting to visit this market for a while & finally I was there! For those of you who love to DIY Burmese food, you may wanna visit there! Ingredients for tealeaves salad, kauk-tswae (noodle), moah-ghin-kah (curry ginger based catfish soup eaten with rice noodle), own-noad-kwak-tswae (coconut based curry chicken soup eaten with Chinese noodle), etc. you are in luck here. I was there right before they were closing. So, not much pix were taken. The lighting was dim. But I could still find the ingredients that I was looking for. Besides, Burmese food ingredients, this place also cater most Asian vegetables, meat, and food items. The older lady at the register counter was friendly, patient, and helpful. Parking is limited but street parking are available. No ev chargers are available in the parking lot. So, if you are in the neighborhood of Monterey Park, stop by and see for yourself or enjoy having some exotic Burmese food to go. Bon appetite.

Roaming the Asian markets in search of ingredients for various Chinese dishes, I decided that Asia supermarket was a bit closer than the big Cali Mart on the same Valley Blvd in Alhambra. The difference nevertheless is huge: Asia Supermarket is much smaller, not as organized and the choices are more limited obviously. The personnel does not speak English so one is on his own to decipher some labels or get advice. They were otherwise friendly but is there a difference between Oyster flavored sauce or premium Oyster sauce? Big mystery so I settled for the premium at twice the $ hoping for the best. The vegetable department looked a little tired and I did not venture to the meat and fish as it looked crowded. In summary, I found what i was looking for but the experience was not as good as Cali mart so next time, I will drive the extra miles!

This guy , after yelling at people. Hide inside but still cursing.

This is the worst Supermarket I ever been. Expensive, bad attitude. The Fish department clerk pretending not hearing you and even curse clients. I think may be his boss didnt pay him right or he was yelled at by his wife, or got off his bed from the wrong side. But whatever happened to him, he shouldn't yelled at or curse his clients. I asked the sick and tired old owner to discipline his worker. He answered : Do not tell me what to do in my store! Ok. This tells me that they all hate to serve the clients. And why so less customers . This is a BAD market, not only people are not friendly but also very Few products you can find. I couldn't find all my ingredients for my cooking demo. This is my very first time shopping there . And definitely will be the LAST time too.

This is the best Asian market in the neighborhood where you can find anything you name for here. It locates on Valley and Atlantic next to the Starbucks and Chase. Their specialty are the groceries products that are from Thailand and Myanmar. They staffs are so helpful and friendly. The price is cheaper than other markets nearby. Once I found this market, I wouldn't go to anywhere else. Price, quality, varieties of products, friendly staffs, plenty of parking space and location are everything here.

Mold

So I came to buy egg noodles to make the dupe for the famous CRUSTACEAN garlic butter secret noodles , and had I not checked , all bags of noodles had mold , I feel bad if elderly or babies eat this because I know their immune system won't be able to handle this without them getting sick , I told a couple of cashiers , but of course they just seem to brush it off . They're still on the shelf .

MOLD GROWING. FUZZY.

ok, throughout the years i come here when i am in dire need of vegetables last minute. i do tend to see a lot of vegetables going bad here and usually pick the one with less rotten / black veggies in a pack. today was the worst. MOLD. GROWING. MOLD. ON THE SHELF.

I haven't been to Asia market in a long time until my mother heard they sell fresh pigs feet. On a Sunday morning at 9am in April. I took her there to buy pigs feet. The meat counter is very clean and the aisles are organized and clean. We had to wait a little longer for another butcher to bring out the pigs feet. He was able to cut it in pieces. The lines to pay is short.

Don't go here!!!

Nooooo Arrived 655, they close at 7 and would not let me inside. Drove all the way here from downtown to buy tapioca pearls. Ugh, never again!!! Never and you shouldn't either....based customer service!

A nice selection of Vietnamese marinades that are great for bun thit nuong and com suong.

My bill always seems to be cheaper when shopping here over other nearby markets.

Fresh produce, baked goods, hummus, pizza, tamales, seafood, and more. This weekend I stopped by and grabbed grilled skewers from Far East Embers. You could smell them from across the market, they were grilling over charcoal and it smelled amazing. I got the sampler which came with one of each skewer, plus rice and salad. Really solid and filling. They had a bit of a line so be ready to wait, but it's worth it. Definitely a nice addition to the area and I'm excited to see it grow.

Look, we have to talk about the redemption arc here. San Gabriel's first attempt at a farmers…read moremarket was... rough. Not enough vendors, not enough energy, and honestly it felt like the city threw a party and forgot to invite people. It fizzled out pretty quickly, and most of us moved on. But then they tried again, and wow, did they come back swinging. Reopened April 11th of this year, and the difference is night and day. The place was packed. Great energy, tons of people, and a solid lineup of vendors that actually made you want to stick around and spend money. But the real stars? The pop-ups. There are some genuinely cool bakeries and unique drink vendors that give this market a personality of its own. The kind of thing you don't always find at your standard Saturday market. Is it perfect? I'd love to see more produce vendors, fruits and veggies are still a bit sparse. At this point I'd put it right up there with Alhambra and Pasadena, which is saying something. We'll definitely be regulars going forward. Hoping the city keeps the momentum and brings in even more pop-ups and produce vendors because the foundation is clearly there now.

The highlight of this place is Alexander's Meats. Within the market are prime cuts of meat. Everything from dry-aged beef, poultry, lamb, A5 Wagyu, and seafood is available. They have a very nice fresh produce, deli, meat and seafood section. Staff: The staff here are very kind, friendly, and helpful. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum.
