Sadly, my wedding was here back in July. The communication was terrible since the beginning, and it is still terrible now. We never felt welcomed, and I will never forget walking in less than a week before my wedding (because my wedding planner changed a week before) and being scanned up and down by my old wedding planner and the management as I said hi and smiled to them, and didn't get a single response or smile in return as a walked by with my new wedding planner who was provided by Ashton Gardens. It is now November, and they still struggle with communication of whether a clothes steamer was left there. It's been over a month since I have reached out, I have reached out three times to a personal number and no response. Just about sums up the communication with said wedding planner for 14 months. The day of was a disaster and yelp would not let me type everything out because it was 'too negative'... when it was the order of events and how many things went wrong. Don't recommend. I got married here in 2013. Beautiful Venue. Pictures came out wonderful. I highly suggest checking this place out. It's a great Photo opp. The wedding planners are on point. Didn't fell rushed everything went smooth. I just went with the flow and did as I was told by my "operator". She was sweet and always there when I looked up. ready to help in anyway. My little personal assistant. If it wasn't for her I would of just drank the whole time and got nothing done. I was productive because of her:) The Perfect day! Oh and we opted for a sit down meal. I don't like wedding buffets. All dressed up, in heels trying to carry a plate is not my vibe. It was like a movie. the graceful staff quiet and swiftly kept our drinks full. The chicken Florentin is what we chose. It is to this day my favorite dish. My husband makes it now. our anniversary is today! 8yrs. SO he'll make it tonight, They picked up our finished plates. No dirty dishes left in front of us which is my biggest pet peeve. And kept it moving. I didn't have any issues. we had outside vendor as far as the DJ and photographer. Those were my issues. But also probably my fault for planning a wedding in 72days. You won't be disappointed. although it could have changed the way they do things since 2013. read more

The venue is gorgeous, and the chapel speaks for itself. A wedding coordinator is included when you book at Ashton Gardens! Paige, our wedding coordinator was absolutely amazing. She is kind, patient, professional, and organized. Not only is she on top of every little detail, but she is so pleasant to work with. It is so evident she enjoys her job and truly cared about making the day perfect for us. She was responsive to all my emails and questions leading up to the day. The process of working out our day-of itinerary, setting the details, and customizing the layout of the ballroom with her went smoothly. While the venue does have restrictions on outside vendors, Paige worked with us to accommodate our request. On the day of, she did an excellent job of setting everything up according to my labels and instructions, packing it all up at the end of the night, and making sure everything in between ran smoothly. I think the only thing that went "wrong" on our day was that the champagne we ordered for the bridal suite was not provided. I didn't notice until the end of the night when we got to our hotel and found that the bottle of champagne was sent home with us in our to-go bag (yes, they pack up our leftover food and cake for us!). Such a small detail, and quite honestly we were so busy during the day with hair and makeup and getting all our photos in, it didn't bother me at all. One downside of the venue is that day-of access begins at 11am. With request and approval from corporate, we were allowed 10am access. We made it work with our hair & makeup and photo schedule, but the late access time is definitely something to consider if you are wanting to get ready at the venue. We were very impressed with the level of service from the wait staff. They introduced themselves to us (B&G) and checked up on us frequently throughout dinner. They remembered our guests' drinks and offered refills. During cocktail hour, they came into the chapel and served hors d'oeuvres to family members waiting to take family photos. I could go on and on about everything the venue offers and how they think of every detail...but I'll let you find out for yourself when you visit and plan with them. Summary: Beautiful venue, not a beautiful experience. If you are looking at this location for your wedding let me say the venue is gorgeous, breathtaking really. We got married Nov.9 th at 11am. The sunlight coming through was defused just enough at this time. Lighting is a bit dark for pictures, so make sure you hire a photographer that uses flash well. Our photographer was amazing! The reception hall is just as breathtaking, especially at 12pm the lighting was perfect. As perfect as this location venue was, the experience was not as magical. First what did I learn from this experience that will help you make a decision to time and dates when using this venue for your wedding? 1. If you do want a morning wedding like us, be prepared to feel rushed by the staff. Ashton Gardens is a wedding factory. As gorgeous as this venue is, it is understandable that they would be as booked as they want. This simply means if you have a morning wedding, there will most likely be a wedding after yours and you will need to have the entire bridal suit cleaned and all your things out before your wedding starts at 11am. You are not allowed into the bridal suit until 9am, so yes, it does feel rushed. If I could do it all over again I would have just gotten ready at the hotel, which sucks because it's your special day and you want to feel relaxed and have lovely time with your bridesmaids... but it's just not enough time unless someone can clean up your things for you. We were not informed all of our things were meant to be out until 25 minutes before the wedding began. This leads me to the next point. 2. Hire someone to communicate with the staff at the venue the day of. Communication was not a strong point with the staff for our wedding. I was a do it all kind of bride. I brought the cupcakes and cake to AG myself the morning of. I did my own centerpieces with help from a family member. I planned everything to the minute. There were a lot of small details that needed to be done I was unaware of until minutes before on the wedding day. Such as bridal suit being cleared out. Other miscommunications were my guest were never told the buffet line was closing. We paid for the food, our guest should have been told but they were not so our food was quietly taken and thrown away. Again communication was not great on many levels. There was more, but I do not want to bash, just help you make informed decisions if you want to use this venue. So hire someone to get those details taken care of so you don't feel stressed. Also, so you know, we had 3 different wedding coordinators in the course of 5 months. We described our vision for the day of 3 different times because the coordinators did not stick around. That much turnover is very concerning for me. Be prepared for this. 3. Do not let anyone talk you into paying more, and stand up for yourself. This was a breaking point for me. The last meeting with our 3rd coordinator the week before the wedding was a very emotional one for me. I was pressured to up our numbers for our reception. If you don't know how this works, you are charged upfront for guests who will eat at your reception with no refund if you do not reach your number. If you go over your number you pay more per person. My husband firmly stood his ground with me that we do not want to up our numbers. He was not at the meeting so I had to be strong. I left the meeting in tears. The staff member and I did not see eye to eye. I did email and express my concerns. She was professional about it and apologized, but we never really recovered. If they had more staff I would have recommended a coordinator change due to differences in personality, but they had no one else from my understanding. We didn't feel special, just another wedding number to be pushed through. It was a very emotional stressful experience for me and my bridesmaids. Your experience can be different, just be prepared to stand up for yourself and don't let anyone push you around. The coordinator did her job, no question, we just didn't mesh well, which happens. With that said, it's your day, you have the right to stand up and make demands, heck you pay enough for it you should feel like a princess! I have heard great things from other brides that have had their wedding at this location with other coordinators so this should by no means deter you from going with this venue. The minute I walked in to this venue, I knew I would be getting married here. The beautiful windows and chandeliers makes it a gorgeous venue. The drive up to the venue isn't very desirable, but once you get on their property, that quickly leaves your mind. Our coordinator Paige was always very helpful and responsive. The staff the night of the venue was very accommodating and made sure everything ran smoothly. The bridal suite is absolutely gorgeous - I really enjoyed spending all day here with my girls! The food was delicious and the house wine was one I would enjoy drinking regularly. The venue frequently offers deals based on when you book so we scored a free candlelight package in the chapel and I'm so glad we did - it was beautiful. They did a fantastic job with our wedding in terms of keeping it organized and on point. The whole event flowed smoothly on the day of. We got lots of compliments about the venue and food. It seemed like everyone really enjoyed it. The pictures on the website are accurate and this is a very good facility for both the ceremony and dinner. We looked around town quite a bit and did not find a nicer venue. The chapel was surrounded by trees - creating a serene environment - and the dining area was a very elegant dining room with adjacent outdoor patio areas, bar and dance floor. The venue is high quality with a classic style and requires very little to no additional decorating. They will do any tablecloth or centerpiece upgrades, etc, for you. They also coordinate with the florist so you really have no venue preparation work beforehand unless you are doing something highly customized. The food was excellent and the portions were very generous which was a concern because you want guests to be happy and well fed. You do need to be aware that kids meals are not the same as adult meals, which seems obvious in retrospect. But, we didn't understand that until after we sent out our invites with RSVP's. I think it was an oversight on our part with so much going on. Luckily, the kids liked their meals. There are two types of wedding venues: 1) Venues where you rent a space and then do everything else yourself, and 2) venues that are more turn-key. Turn key places charge lower amounts for facilities but charge more for food and alcohol which you can't get from a third party vendor. That's the trade off. Prices around town just to rent a venue like the Julia Ideson Library for example are extremely high for what you get, so it made sense just to pick a good venue and have them do most of the work for us. AG is turn key. I think it evened out with what we would have paid to do all the work ourselves, so that was a big plus that we got a high quality wedding without having to attend to all the details ourselves. Otherwise, you have to rent chairs and silverware and handle all the little details yourself. Since the food at the venue was excellent, it didn't matter that we couldn't have it catered. The wedding coordinator on the day of was a big help and kept us from having to do event management on the wedding day. You will still have to hire a DJ, photographer, florist, minister and getaway driver, so there is still a lot of work to do for a wedding. All those people can coordinate pretty easily with the event planner, though. The wedding planner even took it on herself the day of to call the limo company that was picking us up and make sure it happened on time so the car was just waiting for us. Also, if you have a served meal as opposed to buffet, you will need to do your own seating chart and name placards. You will also need to bring in your gift card holders and small details like that. Just be aware. You'll likely have to do that anywhere, though. It was a great experience getting married here. Update: 7 months later, people still keep talking about what a good wedding it was. One out of town guest said it was the best venue she'd ever been to. I just saw Cody J's review and am confused as to what all the issues were. AG certainly does not warrant 1 star. That is somewhat bothersome to see your wedding venue get dinged by someone and have him say the venue was lacking when it wasn't. You do have to be really organized and understand what is going on to keep your wedding at a certain budget. There are simply too many options and variables that only the couple can make decisions on. You have to ask tons of questions. That is true basically anywhere. If I had a genie, I would transport this chapel to the venue we picked. It is seriously stunning. check out the pics. If only it was JUST about the ceremony... I did not enjoy the reception hall much at all. It had the hotel banquet room feel, which is very nice and some people prefer that, but we do not. I also was looking for a place we could bring our own booze to help save money. The reception hall is also kinda horseshoe shaped, which seemed like it would be weird for a good flowing night, but I could be wrong as Allison M. spoke very highly of it. I loved having my wedding here. The chapel was absolutely beautiful lit by candle light, and the reception area was elegant. Our wedding coordinator was helpful in getting everything together for us and we couldn't have asked for a better one. There were a few bumps, as there always are; we went to their food tasting and were disappointed by the quality, but the food at our wedding reception was delicious! It was a bit odd but we were glad to be pleasantly surprised. We made a slideshow to be played on the TV outside at the reception which didn't work, but again it wasn't a terribly big deal. So I have only been to a handful of weddings here in Houston but this has got to be the nicest venue for a ceremony to date. The ceilings are high and there is plenty of natural lighting. I just simply love the architecture of their hall. My aunt had her wedding ceremony here but not her reception so I can't judge the food. The only downsize of this place is their parking. You basically just park where ever. They encourage parking on the grass. I wish people just knew how to open their doors correctly. I got a decent sized door ding. read more

Attended the wedding of a friend here. I found it interesting this place existed where it does. I have lived in the general area for 20 years and would never have guessed this place was here. The cathedra/chapel is pretty nice. Lots of windows and a view of the surrounding woods. Large wooden beems seem to complete the space. The dining/ballroom area was adequate but nothing overly extravagant. The wait staff was mostly friendly except for the bar tender. He seemed pretty unfriendly for some reason. Attended a wedding ceremony here this past Sunday. The chapel is gorgeous and quaint. Floor to ceiling windows give a dramatic view into the adjacent forest. Having our wedding at Ashton Gardens was easily the best decision in terms of planning the event. Regardless of our DJ choice, our cake, floral arrangements, etc, they would have been NOTHING without Ashton Gardens. This venue is GORGEOUS, and I loved having two separate indoor spaces for our ceremony and reception; this was a huge deciding factor for our December wedding. Every step from the initial tour to our grand exit after the reception was seamless, completely enjoyable, and so easy for me. The staff take any inkling of stress out of the picture, and do everything possible to make your day absolutely perfect. Our coordinator, Paige, was a total game changer. She made the day of the wedding sooo fun, handled every single question and detail and made sure that my husband and I had nothing to worry about during the day. The staff are fabulous at Ashton Gardens, we had our drinks refilled constantly, never had less than 2 sips out before we had a refill ready in front of us. We were waited on hand and foot. My husband and I were truly treated as King and Queen for the night. We miss it, and just want to replay the evening over and over again! This review that I am writing is later than I had desired it to be because of the hectic new wedding planning I've had to plan in a matter of three months due to Ashton Gardens. My wedding planning with Ashton gardens began with an inquiry that did not get a response until a week later, and the response only came after emailing the staff about my inquiry. Nonetheless, my fiance and I went with Ashton gardens but we should have taken their behaviour as a warning. Throughout my wedding planning with Brittney Smith, whenever I requested anything, I was met with an unaccommodating, dry, denial; about absolutely anything. This worried me, because I felt like their behavior was a reflection of the service on the wedding day. I was afraid that they would make my day more difficult given how they were unaccommodating in the planning. I worried about their service in regards to food, setup, and hospitality with the guests. I made it clear to Brittney with this exact message just four, four months before the wedding, "Brittney, I am having an issue in which we believe your unaccomodation to make the bride and groom happy throughout this planning process will be a reflection on Ashton Garden's service and standards on the wedding day. I do plan on making a review after the wedding about how difficult it has been to get any sort of accommodation from the venue." The response I received was completely uncalled for, extraordinarily unprofessional, and disrespectful. My email was then forwarded without my permission and my fiance received a call with the threat of cancelling the wedding, just four months before the wedding, and conveyed the message that they would no longer want to work with me and would only work through a different member of my family, a wedding planner, or my fiance. To this, I called Brittney and let her know that I would like to speak to her manager, Shara, she provided me the number and I left her a message. Minutes after my message, my fiance, not me, gets a call the they have terminated our contract. Completely unprofessional, they would not speak to me. There was no attempt from higher staff to discuss the matter or to understand, and nothing had been said to warrant this reaction. I had to terminate contracts with furniture vendors, charger plates, makeup artists, etc. I was left with a little less than four months, four months, to find a new venue, and change everything that I had set with Ashton Gardens to a new venue. I had to notify all my guests of this change, and order and send new invitations. They know the preparation that goes into a wedding, and yet they terminated with me for nothing. I pray that anyone looking to use this venue know how disrespectful, unprofessional, unaccomdodating end extremely not understanding they are. Please take notice that they have the right to terminate three, a merely three months before your wedding date for no reason and you could be left planning a new wedding in a matter of months. read more

I knew this was the place I was going to get married from the first time I saw it. The grounds are amazing! Both Chapel and reception are on the same grounds which is very convenient. At first I thought it was a little out of my price range but around the month I wanted to get married they were having a few specials due to cancellations to where I got the entire venue at no cost and all I had to pay for was the food. Wait...wait.. don't get carried away. The food can get a little pricey depending on how many guest you are having and which plate you decide.The plate I decided to go with was at the food minimum which was the Chicken Florentine and it was amazing.I got so many compliments on the food. In all my wedding turned out beautifully and the Wedding coordinator from Ashton Gardens (Danny) was amazing. She made sure I was relaxed as possible and didn't worry about anything on my special Day. Ashton Gardens is A Five Star Facility. My husband and I had a Vow Renewal Ceremony & Reception for our 25th Wedding Anniversary at Ashton Gardens in May, 2014. First of all, the venue was amazingly beautiful. A number of our guests commented on how surprised they were to come out of the wooded drive to see the beautiful grounds and buildings. The Chapel is absolutely stunning with the floor to ceiling windows looking out into the wooded landscape. We simply couldn't have asked for a more serene backdrop for our ceremony. While our guests were treated to wonderful hor's doeuvres in the ballroom, Servers thoughtfully brought in trays of snacks and drinks for our family as the Photographer was taking bridal and family pictures in the Chapel. The food was absolutely outstanding! All of our guests were full of compliments on the Southwest Ceasar Salad, Tenderloin and Lobster, but the surprising item was the Mac & Cheese bar! It was fantastic! My husband and I had our food served to us at the Sweetheart Table and we never had to wait for a dish or ask for drink refills, & our servers were especially cordial & helpful. We couldn't have asked for better service! We had planned a display in the beautiful foyer with pictures and other items from our Wedding 25 years ago, including Wedding dress, cake topper, toasting glasses, etc., and the staff was wonderful in accommodating our ideas. They even furnished us with granite-topped tables and easels for our display. Overall, it was a magical, stress-free day of celebration for my Husband and I, and our friends and family. It was a pleasure working with our Coordinator, Angie, who kept everything going in a smooth, timely manner and was so helpful during the entire day. Also, Shara, the Director of Sales and Planning, was instrumental in helping us plan out the entire event from beginning to end. Oh, and everyone especially loved the Photo Booth, what great fun! Ashton Gardens (AG) is the perfect venue if you're the type of bride who's short on time and not wanting to deal with the hassle of finding a separate reception site, catering, and linens rental. My fiancé and I booked a Sunday afternoon wedding slot since the price was significantly cheaper (read: about $5000 less) than Saturday night, and since no wedding had been scheduled after ours, the manager threw in the other ballroom for free. Here's a quick rundown of my experience: The property features a gorgeous chapel with plenty of windows letting in natural sunlight in a woodsy area, an adjacent and elegantly decorated reception hall/lobby, and plenty of self-parking. My wedding coordinator, Monica, kept everyone on schedule and things running smoothly for both rehearsal and the big day. I loved how Ashton Gardens also provided us with a cake stand, tea light candles, and a mirror tile for our centerpieces (you can also opt to use their centerpiece of a hurricane stand with silk petals). My guests enjoyed the catered food from AG (try the sea bass!) as well. However, there are some things that can be improved, the main one being responsiveness to emails and phone calls. I would go three to four days without receiving a reply to my questions and would instead receive numerous automated email replies about how Monica was out of the office. However, when I did finally get in contact with her, she was both courteous and helpful. Another thing that can be fixed is how quickly the buffet is taken away. The food is supposed to be available for an hour, but a family member noted that it was cleaned up before the hour was up. The last thing that I wished could be different is AG's flexibility with time. Since there was a wedding before mine, my wedding party was only able to have one hour on the property before starting the ceremony. This meant that everyone but myself needed to be ready by that time which caused me a bit of stress but turned out fine in the end. read more

Went to a wedding menu sampling event here and the food and venue were both excellent. The venue is quaint and I really didn't know that anything this nice would be out here near the Hardy toll road. So random. But It's definitely a little gem in Houston and I can't wait to come here to celebrate my friend's wedding in June '13. The wedding tasting was a full "mock" reception which included cocktail hour with full bar and hors d'oeuvres, ballroom dining with a full waitstaff, dinner menu, dessert, wedding cake, tea and coffee, champagne toast, as well as a DJ and emcee for the evening. Based off of the items served at the menu sampling, I will have to say that my favorites were the cozy shrimp, gulf lump crab cake, and baked potato soup "sip" hors d'oeuvres. The dinner service started us off with a California style salad with "flower confetti" I wasn't a huge fan of... I'm not really a fan of eating carnation, rose, and orchid petals but it made for a very colorful salad. Perhaps you can ask the chef to use flowers that compliment your color theme. haha jk. The champagne and mango Sorbettos were SO GOOD. I can't get over how much I wanted to bust into the kitchen and steal buckets of this stuff. Couples... I highly recommend this sorbetto if you have a wedding. Ask them to make it for you! The buffet selections for dinner were decent, but my favorite out of the three proteins that were served was the Pan seared filet of sea bass. Oh. My. Word. This fish was not "fishy" tasting and was flaky and moist and just plain wonderful. If the bride and groom of the wedding I am attending order this as one of the items on their dinner menu, they can be sure I will be going back for more! I was part of a wedding party and arrived early as requested. There was NO WATER to be found ANYWHERE before the wedding ceremony, on a hot, sweaty August day. MANY of us suffered dry mouth before and during the wedding, just awful! Then, when the wedding was over, at the reception, you had to wait in a long line at the bar to get any water. THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN PITCHERS OF ICE WATER AVAILABLE. I mean, DUH. Even without a 100-degree day, there should have been. Also there was NO SOAP OR PAPER TOWELS in the restroom off the chapel area. Then at the dinner, the portions were tiny and our table never got bread like the other tables, and if you wanted water glasses filled, well by God, you had to go wait in line again. I am reviewing the catering/food side of Ashton Gardens. The church and reception facility are great and the grounds are pretty amazing for a wedding. The food actually was very good, but I'm deducting a star due to the planning. I think I was the last person to get food and people were saying the salmon was amazing. Unfortunately they ran out of salmon but I got a small piece, it was tasty. The other entrees were also well prepared but not a whole lot remaining. I asked the chefs if they had more and they said "No". It also seemed like the wait staff didn't understand the need to refill water and drinks often. Either they were short staffed or don't normally serve people. The ambiance was great though. One suggestion is that they should make an announcement about everyone getting served and then allowing for seconds and thirds. read more

Went here as an invited guest of a friend that was getting married. Everything went off well, with one hitch. As we made our way from the chapel to the dining hall, there was no staff to direct us to the proper room. Made a guess as to which room i needed, and the staff promptly closed the door, leaving me to guess that it had to be in another room. The food as the reception was good, the kept the hors doeuvres coming non-stop! It's a fine place to go for a wedding. Would be 5 stars had the staff been a little more on top of their game in regards to crowd flow from chapel to reception. read more

I will change my review based on the fact that the cake must have not been provided by the facility. I will say that I still believe that all guests should be able to see the dance floor regardless if it was being announced by a DJ or not. You need to relocate the dancefloor to the center of the large room (when that is the room being used) so that ALL of the guests can be involved throughout the reception. Your comment that guests should get up and find a place to sit near the dance floor is impossible because those few tables are already occupied by other guests. You know that the dancefloor is located in a breezeway type of area which is in between the two larger rooms, that is why I describe it as an L shaped area with the dancefloor being in the small part of the L and literally around the corner from the majority of the guests in the large room. All weddings I have been to, the dance floor is in the center of the reception/dining/party area so that everyone can enjoy it the entire time, especially at a seated dinner situation even though it was served buffet style. I cannot think of a better venue to have had our wedding ceremony and reception. Everyone involved was completely wonderful and Angie our wedding coordinator was AMAZING!!! She helped walk me through every scenario and was incredibly flexible plus on top of things as last minute hiccups and mix-ups occurred. I really appreciated everything she did both in the planning process and on the day of the wedding. She really did go above and beyond to make my wedding so incredible! The luxurious bridal suite of rooms gave my 6 bridesmaids and 4 flower girls plenty of room to relax in the beautifully appointed room. Hair and makeup came to us and everyone had a wonderful day of pampering and fun. Ashton Gardens provided us with snacks and drinks that could not have been better. All these special touches made my wedding morning with close friends and family a great way to start the perfect day. I spent about 6 months researching venues in Houston and ultimately chose Ashton Gardens. Its really a good value compared to most other venues which have high minimum packages and many hidden costs (i.e. wedding coordinator, cake cutting fee's, additional wait staff charges, higher service charge, etc).The venue also offers a food tasting four times a year that my fiancé' and I got to be a part of before we made our food selection and it was out of this world. We loved the pan seared filet of sea bass and the mac and cheese bar. It was even more received at the actual wedding. My northern family couldn't get enough of the food so I was very glad we choose a buffet style menu as it was all you can eat! The entire experience was like a dream come true!! I highly recommend Ashton Gardens to any bride looking for an AMAZING venue and staff of professionals! read more

Venue is beautiful! Food was amazingly delish! My fav was the mac & cheese bar! Customer service was great BEFORE the wedding (aka before they received all our payments). Now onto the negative comments. Our coordinator quit about a month before our wedding. I saw similar reviews on other wedding websites about AG so that might give you an indication of their turnover rate. The new coordinator left our envelope box in an unattended room despite me requesting it to be with family members. So much was going on that day that I didn't even know about the unattended box until after the wedding. I didn't know I needed to micromanage the staff especially considering their specialty & line of business is wedding venue & all it entails (their one stop shop selling point). Needless to say, we had monetary gifts disappear. I contacted the venue immediately (a week after our wedding when I realized gifts were missing) & I had a hard time getting a response. Emails to the sales manager were ignored. I sent multiple emails to different contacts & the facility manager replied here & there but had no sense of urgency or a sincere desire to help. They dragged & dragged their feet (more than a month later) only to tell me their video footage gets deleted after a month. Oh, how convenient. I did manage to receive some clips of video footage but it was poor resolution & quality. Couldn't really make out who was who due to the super grainy quality. That doesn't even make sense to me because they charge clients thousands & thousands of dollars per each wedding but they are too cheap to buy top of the line video surveillance? In addition, the facility manager also admitted this was a common occurrence throughout the year with some of their weddings. Hmmm...different weddings throughout the year & the same problem keeps happening? Let that soak in & I will let you figure out the common denominator in all of this. We supposedly had our own waitress to attend to our needs at the sweetheart table during the reception but it took forever to get our food served to us. Our glasses were often empty so we went to the bar to get our own drinks. I'm torn as to whether I would recommend AG or not. Like I said, the venue is really beautiful. Floor to ceiling glass windows overlooking a private forest? Pretty rare in Houston. Food was probably the best wedding food I have ever had. Very attentive & responsive staff PRE wedding...not so responsive AFTER they had all our money. I honestly don't know what happened to our monetary gifts nor will I ever know because AG was not very helpful or timely in their response time. All I know is some of our monetary gifts disappeared on AG premises & apparently other couples have had this same unfortunate experience in the same venue. My advice to you...if you do decide to book with AG then micromanage these folks and do NOT (I repeat do NOT) let them handle the envelope box! Believe me, having money disappear on your wedding definitely taints what would've been a completely wonderful day. *UPDATE* I had to reduce the 3 stars to 1 star because I don't appreciate Rex lying about the situation to save face. 1) I never had any contact with him at all...the only person who was semi responsive was Chris. 2) I asked Chris SEVERAL times if I could come in to view the footage (I still have the sent emails) but he wanted to send some of the grainy footage via email. Had I known the footage "gets deleted after a certain time", AG was going to drag their feet (quite conveniently after 30 days) & that he wouldn't send all the footage via email then I would've drove up there. 3) Your coordinator failed to have the envelope box with a family member like I requested. Had the box been with my goddaughter then this probably would've never happened. 4) Chris admitted that some of the video captured people walking towards the room area but you can't tell if they were walking into the room or out the door (because of the camera angle) so it is beyond me how Rex is saying it so matter of factly that only family members walked in there. You can tell the clients to refer back to their contract all you want about how AG isn't responsible for this & that...it doesn't change the fact that AG dropped the ball in multiple areas. I would've recommended you before but Rex's comment has now changed my mind. I would NOT recommend AG to anyone I know. read more

Don't get me wrong, the chapel is gorgeous but keep up with my long review to understand why i gave it a low rating. The coordinator has that type of "I-am-the-boss-around-here" attitude that did not settle well with my wedding party and I. It does not leave space for creativity for us which really sucks. During rehearsal, I asked MANY questions which clearly annoyed the coordinator because she would stare at me and answer very slowly in a passive aggressive condescending way. (example: "where will my string quartet play during the ceremony and can i leave them some water?" her response= "**stares at me for 5 seconds*** they.... will stand... near the entrance... and no... we do not usually do that... it could spill"). Also during the rehearsal, I already had a specific order in which i wanted my wedding party to walk down the aisle. Coordinator had something else planned. After trying her way out first I could tell my bridesmaids were uncomfortable walking with groomsmen (they are married and they have never met my bridesmaids) Instead i requested to change that processional order and just wanted them to walk single (ladies first then the men). Coordinator was annoyed by my request and said that couples look better. I insisted on the change anyway. Thirdly, towards the end of my rehearsal, I don't remember what kind of comment I said but i do remember the coordinator responding "this isnt my first wedding soooo...". My husband and i kind of stared at each other like well its OUR FIRST AND ONLY wedding we will ever have so it's much more important to us than it is for her. (ugh im still upset about that comment). Fast forward to today, I never received my photo album that i paid extra for. my photobooth vendor was third party and he took pictures of my guests, print them out on the spot, and placed the pictures on a scrapbook. At the end of the night the coordinator was supposed to make sure my belongings got to me. I never received my scrapbook so I called Photobooth guy to see if they even made the scrapbook and they said they did and that my coordinator should have it. I called Ashton Gardens and they said they never saw one. Guests confirmed that there was a scrapbook. so there goes 500 dollars down the drain. Lastly, and this one is the big one: when the whole wedding was over it's as if I am less important to them. There was this issue with the security deposit where I was promised a refund and that never happened either. When i called to ask about it, one associate said wait 15 business days for refund to appear in bank statement. Month later there was no refund. I called again and the coordinator told me that I was not going to receive a refund because my guests did not buy enough drinks so they had to charge it off of my security deposit. (complete BULL CRAP) a month before the wedding, we had a whole conversation about if my guests do not purchase enough alcoholic drinks then will i be penalized in which the coordinators response was no because it is a cash bar service. They really are after your money, so do yourself a favor and find a different venue to have your special day. Only nice thing was food (you can only cater with them) and elegant chandeliers and chapel. read more

the 1 star given is simply because this venue is rather attractive. However, that is where the positivity ends. You have to use their caterer and the food is not on par with price at all. The communication from the wedding planner we were assigned to was poor, it took over 3 weeks to get back to us regarding our wine selection which was about 2 weeks before the wedding date. We had to repeat and correct her numerous times on details that were important to us- we opted to make a few menu changes and style changes (linens, number of chairs per table, nothing absurd) yet she continually defaulted to "factory reset" or what they must do for every other wedding. The day of the wedding we had photos taken before the ceremony and there was still a couple in the chapel having their rehearsal, when we went outside to take photos the sprinklers were turned on and we actually had to ask our onlooking "planner" to turn them off as she just sat there. The walk down the aisle was a complete disappointment as there was no music until half way through, while the planner mouthed from the back "it's not working"- Probably something you should check before that moment comes. Set up for the actual reception was by far the most frustrating, as we opted to have both ball rooms open, yet during set up we were told we had to keep the wall closed so they could use it to show/interview with potential new clients, but they would set up for us before reception time. This was completely unacceptable, because by this time I have zero faith that our "planner" is competent enough to follow OUR plan rather than what she normally does, and this was our day! We paid a great deal of money for this one day to be treated like we no longer mattered because our checks have already been written. The final straw however was when the director came down and told myself and my wedding party as we were setting up that we were "the worst party they've ever worked with", no matter what- you never tell a bride who has trusted you to make her day special something like that on her wedding day! Overall, I suggest going with a venue that listens and that will value the fact that this is a day you will remember for the rest of your life even though it's just another day at work for them. She worked with my family and I, even though we were calling and emailing her non-stop for about a week.
