He followed us around the store and was there to answer questions. He helped us with pricing and we left to go to a couple other stores. Because he gave us a good price, liked the quality of the couch and he treated us fairly we decided to come back. Gary Welcomed us back and helped us make the purchase efficiently. I was really excited to come here and check out what they had for my new apartment. We were greeted by a man when we came in. I explained to him what I was looking for and he immediately said let me take you to my favorite selection (the most expensive couch in the store) he made us sit down and then aggressively tried to persuade me to make the purchase. I then asked are there any other options that we can look at? That seemed to annoy him. He took us to another option that was just too bulky for the space. When we tried to explain that to him and it seemed he wouldn't take that as an answer. He wanted to see pictures of the space and then proceeded to mansplain how we had some much room and knows we want something comfortable. We told him that we wanted to take pictures of the measurements to check it to our space... he then said I'll be right back and he never came back. I cannot begin to explain how this man made us feel. I'm not putting him name in here as I don't want to personally call him out but Ashley come on you can do better. My husband and I recently bought our dining room table from this location and it was incredibly easy. They scheduled delivery and set it up quickly upon arrival for delivery. A very efficient team! While we were in the store, we were never greeted or approached, but once we found the table and chairs we wanted, we approached a staff associate. She was very kind and helpful and quickly got us processed and scheduled for delivery. So while their customer service isn't exquisite, we did have a pleasant time once we approached their team. We really do love our table and the matching set of chairs! Everything we were looking for and more. read more

We bought a desk there two weeks ago and it took two weeks to get here and during that two weeks they offered what they call a white glove service. They assemble it they deliver it and they charge you a fee. So when we saw this dresser which fits perfectly in our new bedroom, we grabbed it thought we would get a call or notice to say would you like the same white glove service? See, I'm not a builder so what was delivered today aside from being almost 100 and something pounds And just dumped at the foot of 30 stairs is now up to me to figure out how to put it together. I've bought a LOT of Ashley furniture before and always received good service. I placed an order for a family member and a couple hours later attempted to cancel delivery a few days in the future. Despite submitting multiple cancellation requests I continued to receive delivery confirmations. I called and an agent attempted to ignore cancellation request and offer me a discount. I'll never set foot in this store again. Upon entering, a woman named Ellie made a beeline to me and started in with trying to get me to be specific about what I was looking for and whispering about prices and promotions as if there were a secret sale. Well, I have a new empty house and just wanted to browse around and get a feel for the look I'm going for, but every time I'd pause by a piece of furniture for a moment she'd rush over to sell it to me. I understand letting customers know your name and making yourself available, but the pushiness was over the top. Then my friend met me there and as we were walking around, she got 2-3 feet directly behind us just CREEPING at our backs. It was incredibly uncomfortable and I did my very best to be polite in asking if she'd mind if we just browsed around on our own for a bit, but she was clearly offended. I'm just going to say it - not to be mean, but because it's downright unprofessional - she smelled terrible. I knew from the first 30 seconds of speaking with her that I wouldn't be able to do business in close proximity...discussing pricing, arranging delivery, etc, because the smell was intolerable. Please read before considering purchasing from Ashley Furniture. My wife and I purchased a $3,000 dining room table for our first home from Ashley Furniture one month before moving in. We had the dining room set delivered and professionally assembled by the Ashley Furniture team. The assembly crew severely damaged the backrest of one of the chairs, leaving a 2-inch by 4-inch chunk of wood missing, and hid the damage by placing that specific chair against a wall. We also found that the connecting bar that holds the table together was never attached because it was broken during assembly. We immediately submitted a claim, and a technician was sent out to inspect the damages. He documented everything and ordered the part and a new chair backing. When the replacement parts arrived, the second technician told us the wrong parts were ordered, including the wrong chair back. He then reordered what he claimed were the correct parts and said they would arrive shortly. Weeks later, we still have not received anything, even though we were told the repair would happen within a few days. We have now spent over four hours on the phone with customer service trying to get this resolved. We planned a large holiday/housewarming party two months in advance expecting the furniture to be ready, and Ashley Furniture still hasn't resolved the issue. Two weeks ago, customer service told us they would replace the entire dining room set because of the inconvenience, but they have not sent a case number or given us a delivery date. We were diligent in reporting the issues the day the furniture was delivered and have stayed in constant contact, but Ashley has been incredibly difficult to work with and unable to provide what should be a simple resolution. If you've made it this far, please take all of this into consideration before spending thousands of dollars with Ashley Furniture. This review is for an event held at the store, by the store, not for the store itself. I saw a bouquet building class advertised on Facebook for this location. I love flowers and it sounded fun, plus I've always wanted to know how to create a pretty bouquet like florists do. I arrived and gave my name to the lady checking people in. She had just finished checking other people in and I heard her telling them about a mini pancake bar and coffee stand as I walked up but she didn't tell me about it. I then found a seat at a table put my coat on the chair and went to get pancakes. I went to the cart where they were making the pancakes, chose my toppings and was handed a sweet little plate of mini pancakes. When I got back to the table the other guests didn't know about the carts as they hadn't been told. I put my plate down and went to the coffee cart, Goodhart coffee. There was lots of drinks to choose from with choices of different milks, sweeteners and syrups. I chose a matcha latte with vanilla syrup. It was really good. I went back to my table and ate my pancakes and sipped my latte whilst waiting for my tables turn to pick our 5 floral stems. By the time it was our turn there weren't a lot of flowers to choose from and quite a few were pretty wilty. The lesson started when all tables had gotten their flowers which took some time. The teacher was informative and helped us individuals who needed a little extra guidance (folding the paper). We ended up with lovely small bouquets and it was a nice way to spend the afternoon. Afterwards, I walked the store Looking for some ideas for new office furniture but I mostly saw, bedroom, living room & dining sets. Thanks for creating this event Ashley. Run, stay away, do not buy anything here that you might need a warranty for. This is not for this particular store but with Ashley as a company. I have met several former salespeople who have all said that my experience here was typical and it's why they left. The furniture is VERY cheaply made and the couches I purchased here had a bent frame within 2 months of the purchase. The ex had even bought an extended warranty only to never hear ANYTHING back from our very tedious to file claim. We tried multiple times with multiple calls all to no avail. $1500 down the drain and lesson learned to never buy from a company who could care less about repeat customers. read more

When I tried to return an ottoman four hours after it was delivered and was told it was not returnable I was floored. I assume a reputable store like Ashley would have a reasonable return policy. I am an empathetic person who doesn't write negative reviews unless they are truly warranted. If I could give the San Marcos location zero stars, I would. Be advised this location DOES NOT accept any returns and their customer service is horrific. Unfortunately, the day we purchased furniture the sales associate did not bother to inform us they do not accept any returns-even when I asked the sales associate if accessories were returnable, they did not bother to tell me that nothing was returnable. When I called the store to inform them I wanted to return a sofa because the fit in our home would present a safety hazard, I was told my request would need manager approval. I wrongly presumed the manager would easily approve my request- nope! I made my return request on November 18. I was largely ignored or put off by the Customer Service team until January 6 when they ultimately denied my return. Even though I feel a store should inform a buyer of a zero return policy, I attempted to compromise and offered to pay a restocking fee or accept store credit. But nope. The flat out denied my return after stringing me along and communicating poorly for two months. I am so dissatisfied that I will never purchase from any Ashley Furniture again. read more

This is one the worst stores I've ever been to I was told to go to WALMART when I first arrived and asked a few questions regarding my bed I was going to purchase until I was rushed out the store by an older raciest woman employee who Looked at my two year old daughter and I with discussed were rudely rushed out so she could help a couple who had just walked in. Purchased a dresser and a nightstand at the end of Jan. Both were delivered to my apt on time, but the second I unwrapped the dresser, I realized it was damaged. I have called, emailed and used Ashley chat. To no avail. I am stuck with a damaged dresser. I will never shop here again, and it's a shame we even told the customer service guy we were looking for other furnishings for our home. PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING!!!! I genuinely would give this awful company a 0 if I could. The sales associates we encountered were all very sweet, however, the higher ups such as managers and even the customer service line is AWFUL. Their customer service is the worst I have ever come across. I could not get a hold of someone who actually had information on literally anything. NO ONE is on the same page in this company. One person said that to make our return, we had to bring the item to the store. We bring it, and they tell us they are unable to process the return in store and said we should give it to the delivery guys when they deliver our other items. After they came, they said they can't do that. Are you serious? Train your workers! No one replied to our numerous emails and their phone was connected to a foreign country who had 0 knowledge on any of our concerns. There's so many more events that occurred thanks to Ashley's that were the cause of several headaches since September. First our delivery driver literally went home after we didn't pick up the phone once, delaying our couch a month. They ordered our couch in the wrong color and blamed us for it! OBVIOUSLY, we need a couch! But the lady said that if we accidentally dirtied it, THEY MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO ACCEPT IT?!?! She genuinely said "maybe just don't use it". Are you serious??!! YOU made a mistake. We are going to have this couch for another month, if mistakes happen, you have no right to not accept it. There are soooooo many other things that happened in between but one of the most unacceptable things happened earlier today. For some background, we have a loft we were looking for a couch for. We thought: hmm, this color would look good in the loft. We have had this wrong colored couch for over a month now, how about we ask Ashley if they could sell it to us for a good price considering all of the hardships we had to go through with no compensation. However, they said absolutely NOT! We had to pay full price! Whatever. It's not worth the headache. We bought it online but had to go to the store in order to pay extra for them to bring it up. To our surprise, the same couch's price went down by 400 dollars. To our SHOCK, even after DENYING our offer, they brought us our old dirty couch back!!! Yes, that's what we wanted from the get go. The problem is how they LIED and didn't tell us that they were going to accept our offer! I have to admit, their couches are nice which is why I still bought it. I had a question regarding having a chair picked up that was damaged (at no charge) to me. Joyce was helping me. He (Richard) talked very condescending to her and was rude to me. Said it was store policy they will not pick up the damaged or broken furniture. Which I said the store policy should be changed if the electronics in the chairs malfunction in less than a year. What good is an electric recliner that's stuck in the recline position? Needless to say I will have to figure out what to do with my none working recliner. I have been trying to resolve an issue with our mattress and have received zero help or communication. We were sold a tempur-pedic mattress with a box spring that is incompatible with our mattress which caused it to completely slope on both sides of the bed. I have been calling for almost a month to speak with the manager to resolve this issue and get the run around of "he is not available can I get your information so he can call you back" with zero return calls. This is a terrible way to handle customer service and issues. Their sales rep pulled the good old bait and switch on me. I came in to purchase a couch and found one on clearance. I told the sales rep that I needed to go to work (I host a television show) And when I came back, it was no longer on clearance LOL. The sales representative told me in his 20 years he has never seen this before... I too have never seen something go from clearance to normal price. The sales rep told me it had been in the store for over a year and they had been unable to sell it.... Interesting that after they looked up my work profile online, the price went up... Very shady! I also live in Carlsbad near the water and they were asking me about the street I live on and commenting "you're so close to the beach." I would never purchase anything from Ashli's furniture. The manager of the store told me it was no longer on clearance because they wanted it to remain on the floor because a corporate manager was going to be walking through the store that weekend... That makes absolutely no sense, a piece of furniture that has been on clearance and has been unable to be sold for over a year would not randomly go back to full price because they want corporate manager to see the merchandise continue to sit. Very annoyed as well because I came back with two trucks to pick up the couch then left empty-handed, but it worked out because purchased from Diamond sofa and got a way better quality sofa, not to mention a way better designed sofa for my home. Safe to say I will never ever ever ever ever be shopping at Ashli's furniture and I don't recommend you do either. PS the manager of the store did not know the corporate managers name that was going to be walking the floor nor did she have his contact information... I purchased a large mirror that was shown displayed horizontally on the wall. I asked the salesperson if mounting hardware was included and informed it was. Based on the horizontal mounting of the mirror and the sales person's statement that mounting hardware was included I purchased the mirror. When it arrived there was no mounting hardware. I need the mounting hardware. I called the store many times and had sales people tell me it wasn't their job to solve this issue, had phone answered and then quickly hung up on me, and the last straw, ringing and then being disconnected. I finally went online and used the chat feature. Chat has a very slow response time from the agent. After much discussion, the end result is that there's no refund and I have to engineer a mounting system for this large mirror. Avoid this store. There's no store after sales support. All sales are final. Products are not presented truthfully. Sales person not truthful. read more

This review is long overdue. We recently moved to Escondido. Our first stop was at this store. We purchased a sofa set with side tables, a lift up cocktail table and an accent cabinet. Paid cash for all of it! The store literally forces you to purchase their furniture protection plan. Comes delivery date and ALL of the furniture have some defects. See attached photos. Everything is cheaply made!!! It's such a hassle to have a technician come in and "fix" the defects!!! I will never buy furniture from Ashley again!!! Buyers be AWARE. Racially profiled. Came in yesterday with my husband to purchase a new bed and had a horrible experience with Robert. We genuinely liked a few pieces there, including a couch and patio furniture but were only going in for a bed that day. When Robert (the salesman) realized we were only buying one item, he commented "oh I wish every deal would be a big one but sometimes you just have to be kind to people." Like wtf does that mean? A $500 bed is too "poor" for you that you felt we were wasting your time. Little did he know that if we had a good experience we would've gone back for the couch and patio furniture shortly after. I'm in sales, and I can tell you that you NEVER EVER make customers feel like they're less than because you never know a persons situation and don't know if/when they'll come back for more. Also, just be a decent person. Later, while discussing whether to purchase a bed with drawers vs without drawers, I mentioned the drawers were a bit small so we would move forward with the model without drawers. I said this super politely and Robert felt the need to joke that "yeah the drawers are a bit small. You could put a couple things in there or a couple b*mbs." Then he thought he could save himself by backtracking and saying "oh but I thought you two were Hispanic". Management then tried to make excuses for his behavior saying "oh he's old, he doesn't know better." I hope customers know better than to shop here in a hostile environment. read more

We came in like a tornado of not knowing what we wanted. We sat our butts in so many recliners...they all started to feel the same. We visited multiple furniture stores, with mostly abysmal results. We walked into Ashley and Richard greeted us immediately. He was great. He was informative, helpful but also backed off when necessary. We never felt pressured. We visited Richard at Ashley first, and then went on to mor and then Jerome's. We ended up coming back to Ashley because of Richard.
