Sales people stand near the door like sharks at feeding time, then try to sneak around display like they ran into you. I politely told the salesman that I was just looking. He proceeded with his pitch about a product I was looking at. I had to ask him three times to just let me look, he said ok and then attempted to follow me. I recently purchased a whole living room set from Ashley furniture in Poughkeepsie spent 5700 dollars with them. My furniture is delivered they sent me 2 right facing chase lounges / a table set with no hardware to install it and did not send my lamps or bar stools either in the delivery and nobody from the store contacted me to inform me that some of my things won't be arriving. Now on to the delivery when the delivery people came they asked to use my drill to set up furniture. Very unprofessional I allow them to use my drill to set up the furniture which they did not even set up entirely they only but the legs on the couch and didn't even position the couches together. Then after they were done with the delivery the driver left garbages on my floor and left my door wide open and the worst part they took my drill. Now I called the store and they called the driver to return my drill when they came to return my drill that's when they finally made me sign for my delivery so from my point of view seems like they stole my drill and was trying to leave quick wonder what else they could've have stolen Now it's a week later and I am supposed to be expecting the delivery of my other products that they never delivered and I haven't heard anything from Ashley furniture in a week. Had the worst experience ever. Bought two leather couches. On delivery both had serious problems. Material tearing away from back on one. The other was missing two rivets and the stitching was pulling loose on one of the cushions. They wouldn't take them back, but insisted on sending out a repair person. Awful experience. The delivery people came.on Saturday (day before Easter) and couldn't get the furniture in. I had given the salesman the measurements of our door the day of the sale, and he said nothing about whether or not it would fit. In fact, he just said he'd "take care of it." Since Saturday, they've been jerking us around. I went into the store today to ask for a refund. I spoke to the manager and the operations manager. The operations manager refused to refund the delivery fee. I said to her "You never delivered the furniture!" She replied "your door was too small, that's not our problem." They suck. Don't buy furniture from Ashley!!! I don't even want to give it 1 star but you have to. I bought a couch, loveseat, and recliner about 6 years ago. I also made sure to purchase the 4 year warranty, since I had never ordered from them before. I called right before the warranty expired because the arm on one side of the loveseat had collapsed for no apparent reason. My kids are older, they weren't even hanging out with me in the living room anymore at that time. So it's not like I had kids climbing all over furniture or anything. And the recliner COMPLETELY fell apart. And I'm being literal. I went to sit on it one evening and it fell apart under me. When I called Ashley customer service I got no where. The woman I talked to was really rude , and told me nothing was covered under the warranty, since it was "wear and tear". I was furious. Wear and tear?!!! After not even 4 years?!! So I asked to speak to a supervisor..after waiting on hold for about 20 min, I got no where with her either. They wouldnt even send someone to look at the furniture, or even have me send pictures, then decide if It should be covered under warranty. I spent alot of money and it wasn't wear and tear. It's really sh*tty quality furniture. I'm embarrassed to have people over my house that's how bad they are. My old couches were 30 years old given to me by my mother. I was so happy to get the new living room set since my old couch upholstery was so outdated. Other than that sturdy as an ox. Ive never had furniture fall apart on me in 4 years. The worst furniture buying experience ever. I ordered $2500.00 worth of furniture over the phone with a salesman I met earlier. Not only did they get my order wrong but they then charged me for the omitted item and denied I had ordered it. They then ignored my calls, blamed me for the incorrect order, and refused to address the problem. It took hours to get ahold of a manager and it wasn't until I had to call the salesman from a different phone and put him on speaker when I finally got hold of the manager on my phone and trapped him in his lie. Good thing I screen shotted my order and had proof otherwise they would have ignored my issue. I called corporate to complain and they would not take my call and never called back. Couldn't get anyone on the phone from the store to answer so I got routed to customer service who was really happy to tell me they couldn't help me but emailed the store who responded by email while I was on the phone & said they'd call me which they never did. I ended up just going to the store the next day & I asked about extending the financing from 6 months to a year. I was told I had to wait for the same guy that helped me before because no one knew if he had already run our credit for a different bank. I kept calling him & when he finally called me back he said he'd look into it with senior management & get back to me before end of day. No surprise he never got back to me. I waited another day & finally called & his phone was off, thankfully I had another staff member's number because they don't answer the store phone, I got through to him & he said he'd talk to the first guy & get back to me, of course they didn't. I ended up just cancelling the order. I should've read the reviews about how horrible Ashley furniture is. It doesn't even seem to be an issue in just this store, sounds like the culture of Ashley is to do as little as possible for the customer & tell them you'll call them back in hopes that what, we'll forget about the $3,000 purchase we just made. So glad I was able to cancel, still waiting for my money back but I think I dodged a bullet that the problems happened early because I can't imagine how bad it would've been if I had already received the furniture. Waited long time for delivery and when they came to set it up they cracked the legs and staircase to the bunk beds. Repair support has been giving me a run around for the last month. We walked into Ashley Furniture after visiting 4 furniture stores in the last 90 minutes. A young salesman introduced himself as Paul and I told him what I was looking for. (a small couch with a chaise). He quickly brought me to the exact model I described, then told me there were 2 similar models in other parts of the store. He knew exactly where they all were, and described each one in detail. He was so polite and courteous and unlike some of the other places we had visited, he exerted no pressure whatsoever and told me to take my time. It was an extreme pleasure to shop with him. What a horribly run company. I ordered a bedroom set for my new home on September 10th....finally after numerous delays and several store visits/phone calls later (due to the stores lack of communication with customers) I received a bedroom set close to 6 months later. To start off the day of the delivery, I have videos of this company driving down a NYS hiking trail to get to my house, because there incompetent delivery team cannot follow a GPS. Then after the furniture was set up in my bedroom, I quickly realized the entire bedroom set was not what I ordered. Upon arriving at the store that day a sales associate named "Bill" who was originally helpful, realized that "Andre" who I originally bought the furniture from in store on September 10th, mistyped my whole order, and I had been waiting on the wrong furniture for 6 months. Bill helped in the store that day start the process of an exchange, that was supposed to take 2 days for approval. 3 weeks later, and several phone calls to customer care later, I had still not been given a date for the exchange. By this time Bill had become completely unresponsive to his phone and my questions of what the status was with my exchange approval. After another trip to the store, somehow a sales manager was able to approve the exchange within minutes, after being told for weeks that I needed an approval that was sent from corporate to the store, with emails being sent directly to me to further prove their email had been sent. At this point I stated that I only wanted the furniture in my house to be picked up and refunded and to cancel my original order. The pick up date was set for yesterday, Saturday the 13th. I received a phone call prior letting me know the truck was 30 minutes away to pick up my furniture. An hour and a half later, I received a voicemail stating that my driveway was unplowed and they were getting stuck and I would have to reschedule. I own a plowing company....my driveway is plowed as wide as a highway. There would have been no issues getting to my house even with a semi truck, which only meant one thing. They tried to drive down the public hiking/skiing trail yet again. Another hour plus on the phone with customer care, and I have another pick up date scheduled. This will be close to 7 months I have had to deal with this disaster of a company. They hire completely incompetent staff, and must teach all their employees to lie thru their teeth to the customer to give the illusion that they care and are trying to be helpful. THEY ARE NOT. Avoid this company at all costs so you do not find yourself in the same situation as myself. Lastly, I'm never one to write reviews about poor experiences at establishments, but this has been such a headache and become almost comical at how unorganized this company is that I feel as if I have to, to hopefully prevent others the same misery. read more

On Friday, December 4, I accompanied my mother-in-law, to the Ashley HomeStore in Poughkeepsie New York. My mother-in-law and ailing father-in-law had recently relocated from Virginia. Upon entering, (after being ignored by two sales people), a salesperson was gracious enough to help us. I immediately explained to him the importance of shopping based on availability because my parents did not have any furniture and it was very important for them to have furniture to settle in with as soon as possible. Our hope was to make this new home as comfortable as possible for my father-in-law who has dementia. We purchased two recliners (one on clearance) a floor lamp, one sofa bed, a lamp (that we also bought clearance) a fireplace insert with entertainment center, a counter height dining room set, two Chest of drawers and nightstand. We were very pleased with the service. Most of the furniture was scheduled to be delivered the next Thursday with the remainder of the furniture to be delivered by the end of December. The next Thursday arrived, and the only items on the truck were the recliner and nightstand. A dining room set was delivered and was the wrong one so it went back. I dropped what I was doing and went to the store and met with the sales manager. He gave me correct dates for the remainder of the furniture and assured us that the dining room set would be delivered within a few days. The dining room set was delivered but the table is chipped. Then the warehouse called to give us revised dates for the remaining furniture which spans all the way into the month of February! This is totally unacceptable especially since I had the preliminary conversation with them which was about the importance of availability. Now, I have to figure out alternate furniture options for my in-laws since they are elderly, need furniture and cannot wait until February. The chipped table has still not been replaced. I am absolutely upset...you cannot get through via phone to the store and their central customer care number is absolutely the worst. I will NEVER do business with them again! read more

My mother in law (93 years young) ordered a mattress from this store. The receipt clearly stated to remove the old mattress. This was stated two times on the receipt. The delivery person refused to remove the old mattress and just left the new mattress rolled up in its packaging and left!! The driver refused to assist a 93 year old woman to set up her new mattress. Calls to the customer service dept. did not help. The representative said if there is a "stain" it is up to the driver's opinion. Apparently a small stain about three inches long in the center of the mattress (which posed no threat to anyone) was enough to prohibit this one employee to assist a 93 year old woman! Why don't the employees listen? Almost 10 times, we mentioned we didn't want a recliner. We don't care that your mechanics are made of steel, we do not want recliners. If a customer is clearly turned off by your service, leave them alone. When you walk into a clothing store, nobody is bombarded by an employee, literally following them around the store. Rodney, please get your shit together and LISTEN to your customers. Edit: Why would we want to talk to the manager?? We were basically running out of the store. I really love how hours later, you managed to connect me and my dad, and bombard him with an email. At one point, Rodney went to get another employee to talk to us about the microfiber cloth, but she didn't know much of anything either. Once we walked away, all the way to the outlet side of the store, RODNEY FOLLOWED US and says "sorry for that really long cat story," because the employee he brought over was talking about her cats. Just casually talking shit about a fellow employee. Like, dude, we would rather listen to her for ten hours instead of having to deal with RODNEY. He then proceeds to hang around the area we're in, and then starts carrying over ottomans for us to try out. Yes, ottomans, more than one, just to prove that they come in different colors, when we have already been told MILLIONS OF TIMES that they do indeed come in different colors. I think your best bet, manager dude, is to just get rid of Rodney and you'll make a sale next time. :) Tell him we say 'thank you' for showing us everything we didn't ask for. My husband and I were looking for a mattress on Black Friday, so we stopped in to Ashley home store in Poughkeepsie. It was a little busy that day, but we knew what we were looking for. We try to get a sales person to help us, but no one showed up. About to walk out the store and we came across a great sale on a comforter for $25. My husband and I walked the comforter up to the front to get checked out and grab a couple snacks. Sales person asked if anyone was helping us I said no, so he said I'll check you out. He proceeded to say he needs my name , phone number and address in order to make the purchase. He needs to create a profile for the purchase, so I replied no you don't need that information. He insisted that I give him my information in order to make the purchase. I told the sales person I'm paying with cash there's no warranty or finance payment attached to this purchase. I told him I need to speak to a manager, he would know how to override that part of the transaction. The manager was rude by stating...what seems to be the problem and then quickly stating well this our policy. I told the manager I don't want to give that information out, since I have a private number . The manager just quickly states this is our policy if you don't wanna do that, then you wont be able to purchase the comforter. I need your name, address, phone number to put in our system to create a profile. I said OK then put in a fake name and number to bypass that prompt on your computer. The manager stares me down and says if you give me a fake name and number..... I WOULD NEED TO SEE YOUR ID . At this point I was shocked, aggravated and just disgusted by the whole way they handled everything. We walked out of the store ! I have a right not to be tracked or have my number out there, this should not be Ashley's Policy. Had my furniture delivered 2 months ago and now they sent me a bill stating they made a mistake and I owe more money and that they will take me to collections if I don't pay what they say I owe. They said in their certified letter that they tried to contact me on several occasion which they did not. They are mistaking if they think they're going to change my prices 2 months after the sale. Ashley Furniture only wants the sale they do not care about their customers. Bought a love seat in their Poughkeepsie NY store. The love seat came damaged so we sent it back. Was told by their main office we would get a new one in two weeks. We went to the store to see what they can do. Come to find out the love seat is back ordered and a over month out. They could not say why I was lied to. I then said I want my money back but since I paid in cash I have to wait 2 weeks because they have to cut a check at their Edison NJ offices. Now my money is being held hostage for two weeks, being penalized for paying in cash. Customer service doesn't care along with management. I will never walk through their doors ever again. I think this place is getting better now, but I'm still not set to say that "it's okay". When we got in there, we had this one employee who went several rounds in a rendition of "what do you have in the line of chairs to replace a broken Ashley chair (that we got from a third-party just last summer)?" to her response of "how much do you want to spend?" And although it took some real investigative rounds to get through her thick skull to break the ice, she ended up having a knowledgable experience with her doing some looking with somewhat good communication with us as the customer. The employee explained some of the differences between the types of bases of chairs and tried to puzzle out what type of chair we had so that she could find out why we were dissatisfied with the other one we bought elsewhere and tried to explain their warranties on their products. I couldn't believe they can haul away just mattresses (with picking up others) and no other furntiture. Normally, with most stores we end up coming into, it's just the reverse or where they'll pick up a 1-for-1 trade with purchase. Apparently, not with this place. I think it'll take some more investigative research to see what else is out there that we are missing. We tried Bob's Discount Furniture next door, but I do feel our best bet so far was here. Their prices are about inline with most other locations nearby - even given the comparison between them and Raymour & Flanigan (Clearance Center across the street from Raymour & Flanigan) nearby. I think it'll take a few more years before we'll have to see just how well things work out. But I'm feeling better about this place. read more

I paid for the mattress and got home only to see ashley furniture had charged my card for the mattress AND an additional $1800 charge which I did not buy anything for. Attempted to call the store to have them take off the $1800 charge and was directed to their automated system. After waiting on hold for 2 hours, someone picked up only to HANG UP on me. I have been trying for almost a week now to reach anyone in customer service to fix their $1800 mistake. I used to recommend ashley furniture in the past but NEVER again. The recliner mechanisms are starting to shift around and make noises, And wouldn't you know those are things they say they do not cover even though you purchased an extended 5 year warranty for hundreds of dollars.. We walked into Ashley by chance and we were looking for some furniture to decorate our new home. They let our dog in which was nice and Bob's furniture was not willing to let our dog in so Bobs missed out on a 3K puchase. Ashleys has nice stuff-not the best but 100% good for us and they have warranties that are inexpensive. They have nice artwork and other accessories which we did purchase as well. We came out there with a couch, sleigh bed, ottoman and cool pic. The accomadated my deliver as i only could do a certain day and a few days after I foudn it less expensive than what i paid so they honored that and credited back the difference on my credit card. AGAIN if I could leave this company and there garbage products no stars, I would. So I bought furniture awhile back. Wouldn't you know its falling apart. A little over a year it lasted. Both my sofas have the stitching coming apart leaving holes and my coffee table is wobbling. Upon further inspection noticed the wood looks like its coming apart on the table and it you try to tighten the screws it will break. I didn't want to touch any of it because then if I did they probably say I tampered with it and void the warranty which they will more than likely find a way to void it anyway. This company does not care about there customers. I have complained and bashed there name online. I have never received a call or email or anything from the HQ. Go elsewhere people. read more

They asked me to email my credit card to them then wanted me to sign a credit card authorization form even tho I was in the store. Not a fan of places where the sales people follow you around and talk non stop. I felt like I couldn't walk through and browse at my own pace and I ended up leaving sooner than I'd planned because the sales person was a bit overwhelming, even brought the manager over to talk to us about sales and "if you buy now" speeches which do nothing for me but turn me off. I probably won't go back and probably wouldn't recommend you go in, UNLESS you are the type that can handle the non stop sales presence. I bought a living room set and the sofa broke in half on the sixth day, a week and a half later they sent an engineer to look at the sofa and they wanted to fix it with a new piece of wood. Also within those two weeks the cushions lost their shape. So far it's been a month with a broken couch and we are waiting for a second visit from an engineer to ANALYZE the cushions. Their solution is to replace it with the same model....so I'll have to deal with the HORRIBLE costumer, very condescending After this horrible experience we don't want this furniture anymore BUT THEY REFUSE TO GIVE US OUR MONEY BACK or Get a DIFFERENT MODEL ( manufactured better) read more
