If I could give zero stars I would, because I believe that the General Manager, Jorge was implicitly biased towards me when providing me customer service. I walked into his store today excited about utilizing my gift card for being a loyal customers of Ashley Furniture stores. I wanted to utilize my gift card and take advantage of the price match option but was not allowed to. I was told that only the manager (Jorge) could apply the gift card and the price match to my purchase by a nice sales rep by the name of Velma. The general manager "Jorge" walked over and barely greeted me. Usually, Ashley associate greet you with a handshake. That is the professional ones. Anyway, Jorge came over rudely saying that they only do price matches for Mathis Brothers and Levits. Confused, I asked him why? Because in my mind they are always more expensive than any furniture store in the country. Anyway, he said that I could only do price matches online, but if I choose that option I would not be able to use my gift card. He then went on to ask me in a condescending way if I know which size bar stool I needed to avoid a return in the future because most customers get confused as to the height they need and have to return it anyway. I was really irritated by this time and just ready to make the purchase without losing my patience with the managers poor customer service skills. While I was finishing up with his associate Velman I explained to her that I was not intending to spend that much on the chairs. She called the manager over again, and Jorge rudely in his monotone and joker-ish condescending smile quoted me the same price without any other options, and he said, " well you can look for a more affordable bar stool if you like". I said I will just shop around. Velma offered for me to come back and see her at 5 pm, after he he walked away. I felt so belittled I explained to her I did not appreciate his approach, it was very rude because I had already done my research, my items were already in the shopping cart. All they had to do was show me how to get the price match and take my gifts cards and allow me to pay the difference; whatever it was. I came back at 5pm, and spoke to another sales rep and they said that they do price match and they could show me how to do it online. Confused, I said why did your manager turn me away earlier? They were not sure. The manager looked over at me and smiled. I got the customer service number from the rep instead, left the store again, and decided to reach out to corporate office but after an hour on hold and being hung up on. I went back to the store to speak to the manager and asked him why did he tell me they do not do price matches when the website guarantee price matches and it says nothing about not accepting gift cards. I tried to explain that that I did not come to argue or debate only to do business. I done my research and it is his job to assist me. I told him to please not judge me by the way I look I am not stupid. He went on to say that it is store policy. when I asked Jorge to see the policy, he said it does not exist and told me I cannot use the gift card anyway because they are not to be used with promotions. I asked him to show me where it says that otherwise he can't tell me that. He walked over to show me the back of the card which says, not to be used for promotions. I said then why did the other store allow it yesterday, and he said, "go talk to them about it and walked away". Three trips to this Ashley's and now I know why the parking lot is empty. Many other things were said Jorge while he assumed I did not know what I was doing, and that I could not afford the bar stools when all I was trying to do was get them to honor the price match and utilize the gift cards that were given to me from two separate purchases over $1500; one happened to be yesterday. JORGE did not help. This manager is biased towards me because he treated me unfairly for no good reason; assuming everything about me that was total the opposite. all the reps in the store seemed fearful, clueless, and unhelpful. They all just sat around and talked on their phones with fake smiles with little to no eye contact; weird actually. This was a horrible experience. Then to top it all off the price match item just went up and now the same chairs are $50.00 more. Ugh!!! I am going to file a discrimination complaint because why else would he refuse to help me? The policy says nothing about what he was saying and or doing to make him refuse to assist me with my price match and gift cards, even his employees would not help me. I am sure it is because they are afraid of Jorge's insensitive mannerisms . Velma was nice and she tried to help me. However, she could not do anything without having to call for Jorges' poor assistance. So sad!! She lost a sale and he lost a great review. Unfortunately, I have no photos to show because he did not assist me to buy anything. read more
