I purchased a couch from Ashley and was sold the "Premium Protection plan." I was told that this plan would cover anything that could happen to my couch for five years. Well, the couch ripped after 2 years and I filled a claim. Ashley's insurance folks denied my claim. I went back into the store and was offered a 60% saving offer on another couch. Horrible! Ordered our furniture in April 7th and the last delivery was supposed to be today June 26 and they still sent the wrong parts!! We bought a sectional couch and bedset. The bedset displayed had 7 items including dressers and they said they only sold us 5 piece bedset! The sectional had the chaise faced the wrong way and had to exchange it but 2 months is way too long. Overpriced, horrible management on the items being shipped. ZERO STARS. They don't warn you, the consumer, that their furniture is NOT real wood. Not everyone is a wood expert-so they should warn you it's going to be mainly for looks, cause using it everyday, like a normal family would, will warp the table. I don't understand why this company got such bad reviews. Everything that previous yelpers wrote we had exceptional service on. I do believe the company has new management or is reading the reviews because we got amazing service. Upon walking in we were greeted by Daniella (I think that's her name). She helped us around the store and asked a lot of questions to help us find what we were looking for and was far from buy, buy, buy like most sales associates. We came in prepared with the dimensions we needed and the style of sofa we wanted. She told us to look around but pointed out different sections of the store were key sofas were located that fit the profile we were looking for. On the last spot she pointed out we found the perfect fit, perfect color and perfect style of sofa and Daniella came over while we just sat on it. She told us all about the sofa, the colors it comes in, the fabric and how to clean it, and also recommended the protection plan - since we have a 5 year-old & which is why we were looking for a new couch. We ended up purchasing the protection plan because with a 5 yo, husband, and dogs it covers almost everything that happened with our prior couch. Daniella worked on pricing with us until we found something that we were comfortable with...and we also ended up buy the coffee table with it. When we went up to the counter to pay the associate was incredibly nice as well. Our couch was said to be delivered mid-April (we bought it in March). She gave us a huge list of numbers, emails and contacts (including the General Manager) to call in case we wanted to check the status of the couch, or if the shipping got delayed, or if the couch was defective upon arrival. Our couch ended up arriving at the end of March - got there early. It was defect free and the people who set it up were very professional. Overall, I couldn't have been happier with the service I received, especially making such a large purchase. I walked in to the store prepared (from reading prior Yelp reviews) to have horrible service but I was blown away. Worst customer service experience ever! We came due to an add that said we could get a $50 coupon if we were the first 25 people to come. They opened at 9:00 and we were there at 9:15. Totally dead parking lot, I think we were there only customer. Some condescending little brat came and asked to help us. I really wish I had read the reviews before purchasing. I've just purchased an $1800 mattress set, only to find that once in my home....I can't sleep on it. I adjusted the frame, added slats to frame....tossed and turned every night. I called Ashley....and was told that after item was placed in my home, I had 24hrs to return or exchange. Excuse me? I've waited at my house for more than 5 times, 4-7 hours each time and I still do not have a loveseat. Devon, the manager of the Fairfield store doesn't do anything to help. Gretchen tries to help but has been unsuccessful. I believe Steve was our salesperson. He could care less about helping the customer with their delivery cause he already made the sale and doesn't have time to help the customer with the delivery cause he's too busy trying to make commission on the sale of the furniture. I cancelled $900.00 worth of furniture already cause it was on back order and I didn't think it would ever show up. I wanted to cancel the entire couch/loveseat order but I had half of my order and I couldn't find another set that we wanted. Carlos in the Oakland warehouse said he would stay on top of my order until I received it and dropped the ball. I was expecting my loveseat again today but since my 3 piece coffee table (replacement) was on back order, they cancelled the delivery. If you order furniture and something is on back order, you will not receive any of your order until everything shows up at the warehouse. As you can see, this can take months. We didn't get to celebrate Thanksgiving at my new house cause I had no furniture. They failed/cancelled my delivery 3 TIMES before Thanksgiving and it is now December 18th and they cancelled my delivery again. What a nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had the worst first experience! stopped by today with my mom between 4 and 5, Pretty slow day. There was only one other couple in there and three different employees walked right next to me and didn't even acknowledge me in the store. We were there for 30 minutes or so. Well let me tell you I was beyond excited waiting for my furniture to arrive. When it arrives to my surprise the couch & entertainment was damaged & broken. When I told the delivery driver he said I would have to accept the order since I was his first stop. He said he would note it my account and schedule for a technician to come out. When I called customer service they said they didn't see he noted anything but they would take care of it. As sometime went by I still didn't hear back from anyone. I called again they sent a technician out he said it was non repairable & they would put in for a special order to have another one delivered. Please save yourself don't buy furniture here! They smart talk you and rip you off! Never buying furniture here ever. Charged us a $45 "processing fee" and wouldn't refund it when we decided to terminate the order. The "processing fee" was essentially them printing out the paperwork.... We were promised a date of delivery and once we were about to finalize the order were given a date...3 WEEKS LATER, than the original promised delivery date. And to top it all off, it is a lease to own payment plan, which isn't advertised to the customers. Would give this place no stars if I could. read more

I've been driving around to several stores looking for a non-rocking recliner chair-to no avail was I successful. As I driving home I saw an Ashley Homestore I was like hmmm...let's give one last shot....walked into the store to plethora of furnishing options and was hopeful but unfortunately when I first walked in-two associates looked me in my face and neither uttered the word "welcome to Ashley Homestore..." The estimated delivery date is a joke. I wish we would've read these reviews before going. We bought 4 pieces of furniture. Sofa, loveseat, chair, and ottoman on 11/13 w/ an estimated delivery date of 11/27. Not getting a phone call on the delivery date, I called and was told that there was a delay and a delivery co. would be calling me 12/3 to set up delivery. I was called later during the week told that there was another delay & that i could be delivered on 12/10. The delivery co. called to give a time window the day before. I moved all our old furniture in the garage the night before. The sofa was a pain in the !@ btw. Well the day OF delivery I was called to be told that every piece was going to be delivered except the sofa haha. Nice, especially when we we're expecting company. Looks like I'll have fun moving our old sofa back in the living room only to move it back in the garage later. So ETA 11/27, it's now 12/11 and still without all of our furniture. I understand the word estimated, but Ashley gives it a whole other meaning based on my experience & these other reviews. We recently purchased a dining room table and absolutely love it. The salesman was professional, nice and helpful. However, if you purchase a warranty on any of your puchases, beware! I had an accident and had to notify the warranty company. I swear, it's like I'm in the twilight zone talking to these people. First time around truck broke down but couldn't get a new truck out. I went there to buy a new living room set and a dining table. The couch I saw online. I asked a lady employee if they had that couch and she told me no. I walked around the store and I found it. But it was too big for my living room. She thought I had no money was going to buy nothing so she blew me off. So did a man. He was kind a rude when I asked him to measure the couch so I can see how big my living room is. So I bought Ashley furniture. From someone else and saved 40%. Anything Ashley has. SAVE YOUR MONEY Sherrie, Gretchen, and Jose are the only great thing about this store. They are professional, helpful, and compassionate. Far more than I can say about the management at the Fairfield Ashley. Besides the few people listed above, we have had the WORST experience at this store. The manager (I use that term only because it's on his name tag, and NOT because he acts the part) Perry is one of the most pompous, dismissive, unreliable people I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. We had multiple issues with the 3 deliveries we purchased through them. We were promised correspondence with Gary (the district manager). After many back and forth phone calls with the store, and Perry refusing to come to the phone, we were never able to get ahold of either men. The issues we had with the store are far to long to type out here, and I am far too frustrated to do so. I guess I should have read the reviews prior to shopping here. Divina out sales person was wonderful. There seems to be a theme in previous reviews that are in alignment with what I am experiencing now with delivery service and customer service. I am scheduled for delivery of my couch set today 1230-430 time frame. Around 1235 I receive a phone call from delivery dept stating that they realized that I was not informed ahead of time that a portion of my order was on back order and did not get to the warehouse until this morning and did not make the cut for delivery, but that she can have it delivered tomorrow. I was upset and demanded to speak to the manager. A man name Ricardo gets on the phone. He offers no help, denies he can deliver my other piece till tomorrow, that I would need to give them another day to keep open so they can deliver the other portion of my order. He was so rude and obnoxious and I am surprised he calls himself a manager. I called the local store for customer service. I get someone from Ohio who also could not do anything to resolve my frustration and help prevent further inconvenience. I am still sitting here with no couches unsure when I will receive what I paid for. I would never recommend this store to any of my family and friends. Local staff never answers their own phones and customer service and delivery service which isnt free by the way is the worst. I have been buying furniture for many years and this has been my worst experience ever. Ashley Furniture needs to rethink their customer service experience. I doubt they have many repeat customers. I went to their Columbus Day sale recently at their Fairfield, CA store. It turned out to be a very stressful event and I will never purchase anything at any Ashley Homestore again. Also, be aware--all Ashley Homestores are independently owned and operated. Here's my experience: I was looking at Power Recliners and found one I liked. I chose the Boxberg power recliner. The saleswoman (JoJo) was very helpful. I applied for credit and it was approved, and assigned an account number and credit limit. The "sale" price totaled $535.99, plus tax and delivery (with 12 months of interest free financing). The saleswoman entered my personal information into the computer as well as the price I was to pay. The information she entered was $799.99 less the discount. She stated that I could not finance the tax and delivery fee, which was fine and I stated I would pay those by credit card. When everything was set (the information completed in the computer and ready for my signature), she then said she had to get the manager's approval. He came over and said that the original price was $849.00, not $799.99. He stated the $799.99 price was for the Boxberg non-power recliner (which I didn't even see on the floor or was told about). He stated I had to pay $50.00 more. Annoyed, I stated to him that I agreed to pay the negotiated price of $535.99. He again stated I had to pay $50.00 more. He then added a price in the computer stating that it was a discounted price for their extended 5-year warranty. (I had already told the saleswoman long before the paperwork was being drawn up that I did not want to purchase the extended warranty). This annoyed me further and I told the manager I did not want the extended warranty. He stated that he just thought I would want to know, and he removed the charge for the warranty. He stated that the saleswoman looked at the wrong price sign. (Their was only one sign next to the recliner I chose). I again stated stated I would not pay an additional $50.00 and told him I would only buy the recliner at the price quoted to me. He then changed the price back to $535.99. I purchased the chair. When I returned home, I said to myself that $50.00 is way too low a difference between the cost of a non-power recliner and a power recliner. (While in the store, I looked at many recliners and noticed a much larger price difference). I went on my computer and looked on their Ashley Homestore website and found both the Boxberg power recliner (no price stated) and the non-power Boxberg recliner stating the price as $499.99 discounted to $399.99--quite a difference from the $799.99 price I was told by the manager for that chair. Lastly, after looking in their store, I did not do my do diligence and research prices at other stores before buying. In searching other company websites (Hello! Furniture and JC Penny, among other sites as well), the price for the VERY SAME RECLINER was listed at a significantly lower price than the Fairfield, California Ashley Homestore price of $799.99. read more
