It was my boyfriend's birthday so he splurged with a coffee-based milk shake that was pretty much the best thing ever. It's located a block from the beach and they were a bit busy, so we had time to stroll down for a beach view before our drinks were ready. Perfect start to the day. They roast their beans on-site and they were tasty. My latte was flavorful enough to be a treat but not so sweet to make me feel gross after. Loved it! read more

Good spot for a drink! We stopped after a long drive because we had time to kill before check in. Solid chai latte and as many milk alternatives as you'd find in the city. My husband had a fancy coffee drink and was pleased. Inside was a bit crowded so we got in and out and took our drinks out to the beach. No matcha on the menu, sadly. If management is reading, would love it if you'd add matcha! read more

Delicious coffee and really yummy pastries! We came here every single day we were in OBX, we couldn't get enough. If you are a coffee person you'll love it here. We got cold brews with different flavors. They have a good assortment of breakfast pastries we had the banana nut muffin, chocolate chunk cookie, and cranberry orange muffin- all very good. They offer dairy free milks. They also allow dogs inside and will give them treats, bonus! read more

So we are in the OBX for our 31st wedding s anniversary this week. Since the house we rented did not have a coffee maker that worked, I made it my mission to try a new coffee place each day to do my own survey. Well after a week of going to different places, I say that Ashley's is the winner of my unofficial survey. The folks behind the counter were friendly and very helpful. The coffee (and tea for my wife) were the best. Thank you and I will be back in September. read more

Good coffee shop! It is eclectic indoors with a variety of seating options, drink options (including alcohol), art, and OBX memorabilia. The workers were kind and helpful in recommendations. Ordered a mint chip cold brew shake (delicious and resembles coffee ice cream) and an iced caramel macchiato with almond milk, was good as well. Out of all the coffee shops I visited in OBX, this was my favorite. The coffee was good, but the actual shop was amazing. The decor took this place steps above other coffee shops. Although I only stopped in for a coffee, it's the kind of place where I could see my staying awhile. Plus, the store had plenty of stickers, mugs, etc. to shop from (and I'm a sucker for coffee shop merch). I would love to stop by here again. read more

I'm required to give one star, although I wish a lower rating were available. Saw this place online looking through restaurants to visit during a vacation, and was intrigued. Went in today with my partner, and every bit of intrigue washed away upon the experience the staff provided. A young man who was behind the counter never wore a mask or gloves, and even coughed in between fixing products for customers. The other part of the staff seemed rather oblivious to the tasks at hand and kept focusing on what seemed like friends or family members as they are preparing drinks. Not only was the experience terrible, the wait time was well past fifteen minutes after the previously mentioned young man asks what we are waiting on, seeming to forget what our orders were. After the completion of our orders, it came to be known that they got mine incorrect and didn't immediately fix it, and proceeded to take other customers orders and prepare them as I waited even longer for a correction. This "cafe" has numerous art pieces for sale for astronomical prices, and this place is no cafe, but a art gallery posing as a cafe. Worst experience ever, and please pass this place. Don't even bother with this location, and go to Dunkin, Starbucks, or anywhere you know that would provide a better service. Terrible service. read more

My husband's and my favorite coffee shop we visited on our honeymoon! We loved it so much we went 4 times. Their pastries and coffee are relatively affordable. Bagels are huge and delicious. I got their drip coffee every time and it's really smooth and so good we had to buy beans to take back home. A definite re-visit if/when we come back to the OBX. read more

This coffee parlour just invites you in to stay a while from the well decorated menu signs, smiling employees, beautiful artwork and plethora of comfy seating areas. My first time in today, we are from NY, and my wife and I ordered a large iced vanilla latte and I ordered a cold brew coffee with a shot of vanilla. They were both rich well rounded, not bitter, not watered down.i browsed through some of the amazing artwork I definitely will return to sample more goodness. This is the only coffee house I visit when we are staying down at the outer banks since they open. The owner has created an excellent environment that encourages people to sit down relax and stay awhile. The coffee without a doubt is the best the outer banks has to offer. Due to the pandemic aaaand the gas shortage I was unable to visit Ashley's for almost 2 years. I live in VA and missed this place. The staff are so welcoming and I loved seeing the regulars greeted by their name and conversations engaged. Such a warm and splendid place! We were in the OBX for five days and after finding this spot the second morning, we returned each day. One day we went twice haha. I had a couple of different mochas and they were really yummy! Also enjoyed their fresh baked ham and cheese croissants. Great local artist vibe, and atmosphere here was really chill. While I do not have high expectations from a vacation spot, their capuccino by far was the worst I had in a couple of years - they simply have no idea how to make it. It tasted like a house coffe mixed with milk and with foam on top. I could not drink it and returned. The staff was friendly and nice, but begging for a tip (yes, I was asked for a tip) from a hole-in-the-wall business and prior to the service is quite unusual and unwelcoming. Summary: overpriced compared with Starbucks, low quality, and add-on guilt for tip refusal. read more

I heard really good things about this place. However I was extremely disappointed. The line was long so I was hoping the coffee was worth waiting for. Turns out the line was long because the employees are just really slow at their jobs. They also are not very good at making the drinks. Forgot the chai flavoring in my dirty chai. Gave me the wrong cream cheese flavoring, and the coffee drinks were border line undrinkable and definitely unappetizing. Love, love, love this place. This is the coffee place I have been yearning for on OBX for years! The coffee is delicious and smooth, not bitter like the other places around. Went to this place everyday we were visiting for the week it was that good (I usually only buy a couple times during the week max). Even the rest of my family agreed it was that good because they also went all week. The owner and staff are super friendly and helpful too which even makes it that much better.
