I hadn't been here in years and I regret it. I should have been visiting more often because they…read morehave such cool stuff! This business has been around for many many years. It's full of fun gifts, home decor and funny unique items. I strongly recommend you visit the back room. Because who doesn't need a pot holder that says "I f#*%!ing love cheese!" They have several adult humor items in the back of the store and my husband and I had a good laugh. The front of the store has more tame and family friendly items. Lots of good gift ideas for a wedding, shower, graduation or just to get something for yourself or a friend. The woman attending the store was very personable and friendly. She offered gift wrapping for my items and had pleasant conversation without being pushy. The only reason for the 4 star instead of 5 is because it's so cluttered. There is stuff everywhere! They seem to have an organization to it but it's hard to shop. They're us stuff floor to ceiling crammed in there. It's hard to navigate through and if you were a bigger person or had to use a walker or a cane it would be even more difficult. But overall a neat store!

This shop has a lot of neat things, but most of it was stuff I had seen before in other shops and…read moreit was a little pricey. It is nearly impossible to move around if there are other shoppers in there because the aisles are so narrow and there is just stuff packed and packed in. I found a bracelet I wanted to buy so I went up to pay for it, sat it on the counter, and waited for both of the women working behind the counter to stop texting on their phones before they acknowledged I was there. HUGE turnoff.

After several non-stellar experiences I'm updating my review from a five star to a three star…read more What topped it off was tonight's experience. A week ago my husband ordered an outdoor build it yourself fire pit on menards.com. Online it promised that we would have to load the blocks ourselves from the garden center but the fire ring and the adhesive tubes would be set aside for us at the back special order pick up in the lumber yard. Because we ordered online we had to go in and check in at the desk and get a print out of what we were picking up. At the desk two employees again said the fire ring and adhesive would be back in the lumber yard. After a long wait at the return desk for an even exchange and watching the crew leader show attitude to employees we drove around to get our fire pit materials. An employee helped load our blocks but said we would have to go back inside and get the ring and adhesive off the shelf. We asked about how we were told they would be set aside and he said they just grab them from the shelf. The guy said he'd grab the ring for us but my husband would have to go get the adhesive from the paint center. On the total opposite side of the store from the garden center. I waited in the truck with my son while they went to retrieve the items. My husband came back but the employee never did with the fire ring. So we had to again go find someone to figure out what was going on. They told us we'd have to go inside and retrieve it ourselves. At this point my husband was ticked. What's the benefit of ordering online for ease of pick up? Tonight's Menards visit was a complete waste of an hour and a half.

Over the last few months I've had a couple less than satisfying experiences with Menards as a whole…read more- including but not limited to, my Menards account being compromised and my card information stolen and used to purchase almost $1000 in items in store. Then most recently, I purchasing an item online with one description, and when receiving it, it being different than advertised. Every time I've attempted to reach out to any employee within the Cedar Falls store specifically regarding any issue or concern I've had, I've received the most atrocious customer service. While I understand that certain situations can't necessarily be handled at a store level - there are certain things that can be done when you're working with someone face to face - minimally some empathy, or an apology for the inconvenience. My experiences have always handled by the employees I've worked with by defensiveness, surface level service, and empty words. I've never received any actual SERVICE when it comes to dealing with issues in store. I personally worked in customer service for 15+ years. Almost a decade of that as a customer experience manager at a retail store - so trust me when I say that I understand certain things are out of a workers control, even a managers control. But, there are many things that can be controlled. One of those things is how you handle yourself at your job, and during specific situations. After coming in to the store today to attempt to deal with a situation of a defective item - I left the counter frustrated (with no resolution). As I am still in the store, I see the manager I was just dealing with walk directly from our encounter over to a coworker and give them the 'eyes' and have some words that I can only image was about the 'difficult' customer that she was just dealing with. I'm going to assume she didn't realize that I observed this (because that's better than the alternative that she just didn't care). It really does blow my mind how someone can provide the bare minimum amount of customer service and then when a customer walks away frustrated at that bare minimum service they've received, an employee has the audacity to roll their eyes as if they had done all they could do, with the implication that the customer is being irrational. I'm a younger person that works really hard for what I have - so when the issues I've had with Menards cost me around $1000 THIS YEAR alone, and no resolution has been provided, I guess I have to resort to Yelp reviews in the hopes that my concerns will be heard and addressed.

Prices are very reasonable (usually under $10 for almost anything that I looked at). Most of the items I looked at were in surprisingly great condition and mostly modern-looking items. Nothing looked like it was out of the 90s. Some of the items had hidden tears or holes. They weren't marked down for that, so I'm unsure if the store knew that they were damaged when purchasing the items initially. Women's sizes go up to XL, but men's will go up to 3XL. They do carry a couple of odds-and-ends plus-size items for females, though. Everything is very well organized. Amazingly so. Items are organized by type (mini skirt, top, athletic top, denim, colored denim, etc.), then by size (S, M, L, or XL), and THEN by color. So you can go to the athletic tops to find a Medium top in pink. It's honestly an amazing way to shop if you had something particular in mind for what you wanted to purchase. My selling experience still stands as a pretty poor experience, but purchasing is much, much nicer experience. Check-out went pretty smoothly and was relatively fast. They accept credit cards as well.

I've never stolen from the business nor have I been rude to any of the employees. However, when I came to the business today, I was told that I was not allowed to sell anything to them because I was "flagged" in their system. When I asked why I was flagged from the system because I had never been notified of any wrong doing. The girl at the counter LOUDLY suggested I had stolen or been disrespectful. This was not a private conversation whatsoever and was handled very disrespectfully. I get the employees are younger girls, but this seems to be a business filled with gossip and toxic negative behavior. So then I asked to talk to someone who is a manager she said to call the store. So I called the store and there's no way to get a hold of an actual person. This business is ran by mean girls. This does not look good on the business and makes it less profitable. I was someone who continuously went to Plato's closet and purchased many items. Like I said, I've pretty much paid rent at this business with how many things I've purchased over the years. Since I am flagged for unknown reasons that were never communicated with me. I will not be spending another dollar here. I felt like I was humiliated for something that was completely out of my control. I have never stolen or be rude with an employee. You really can get flagged for absolutely no reason. It is really disappointing because I did enjoy looking at their clothes. However, now I will recommend no one to step foot in this store.

It looks like a small strip mall, but it turns out that all of the stores are interconnected - yet still somewhat separate. There's a mattress store, wooden furniture store, something else I don't remember, and then there's Soft Mart. Soft Mart is, as you imagine, filled with soft, plushy furniture. They sell regular couches, couch sets, chairs, sectionals, decorations, end tables, coffee tables, and pretty much any furniture you'd think would belong in a living room. There were tons of sales people around, but we weren't offered help. I consider this a GOOD thing. I'm sure I could have asked anybody about something if I wanted, but I wasn't pressured into making a buy nor did I feel awkward while a sales associate stood around while my partner and I were talking. I love knowing I could ask questions, but I wasn't being pestered. This was definitely a good sign. They do have a good variety of furniture. We ended up finding a couple couches that could have potentially worked. Unfortunately, they were outside what we wanted to spend or larger than the room we were outfitting. I did like the selection they had, though. We didn't end up buying anything. The prices were higher than we originally wanted to spend. However, that's not to say that there weren't some great deals. For Memorial Day, they're selling a couch and loveseat set for $500. We're looking for more of a sectional-type couch, so it wouldn't work for us, but that's a good price. I'd recommend checking out their other deals on a weekly basis. We'll probably be doing that. I wasn't as fond of their clearance section. When I go to a clearance section, I expect a decent amount of useable stuff. They have a lot of single, awkward pieces of sectionals. They also "stack" up their clearance, so you can't even sit or try to sit on the items on the higher shelf. (See photo for example) Everything is extremely squished into this tiny room, and it's very difficult to shop. Again, most of the pieces were recliners or single sections of a sectional, though. And for being clearance, prices seemed extremely high, so I'll admit that I wasn't very impressed by the clearance section. Final thoughts: It's a good place to shop for furniture with a good selection and some stress-free shopping. Their prices are a bit higher than I wanted, even in their clearance section, but I'll be keeping an eye on the weekly sales to see if I can find something I like.

We stopped in here on a Saturday afternoon to check-out the houseplants…read more Upon entering through the Garden Center we were immediately greeted by Front End employee, Russ. What a guy. We asked Russ where the houseplants were and headed straight there. We looked around for about 20 minutes. OK houseplant selection; if you're looking for a larger plant to fill some space, you might have luck here. Otherwise, for smaller plants, head to a local greenhouse. Most of the smaller plants were already in decorative pots, thus more expensive prices. Prices on the larger houseplants are outstanding. Mine was just $12.98 for a 1 gal. Majesty Palm. Back to check-out with Russ we went. What a friendly employee Lowe's has in him. Someone who truly seems to love his job (I presume his 'retirement' job). Employees like him make shopping in public enjoyable. For larger, very reasonably priced houseplants definitely try Lowe's. Maybe you'll bump into Russ, too. Recommend.

The toilet is listed at 108#, an employee was literally 20 feet away from me while I tried to load it on a cart and then just walked away. The lumber was 2"x12"x12' - long & heavy planks. I had to stand & wait until someone asked me I needed help, I had already told the cashier I did. The guy who asked me if I needed help didn't even help me just went and got someone else. Some serious customer service training is in order.
