Dr.Torrano's professionalism as well as her caring for her patients coupled with her years of experience in the field makes her dental office a dependable place to visit. However, those praises to her are in no way to offset how awful her partner dentist performs. This review is 3 stars only because Dr.Torrano amended ALL of the mistakes the other dentist made, and retained the reputation of her office. This is as fair of a review as I can give, given the circumstances of what I have been through. On Friday Dec 18 2015, my right molar suddenly became painfully unbearable. I experienced excruciating pain 2-3 times after I bit down on food on the molar last year, with the left one already undergone root canal and crowning in the past year, that I suspect the same for the right side. I looked up on Yelp and saw Dr.Torrano's office, with five stars but overlooked only 3 reviews. The office was clean, receptionist polite, and nurse courteous. At the time I did not know there were two dentists. The other dentist came and took some pictures, and told me I only needed a reduction for the crown. Even after I explained my situation in detail to her, and how much pain I was in, that she believed, "There are two separate issues with the tooth, one is a crack and only needed a reduction for the crown, the other is the sensitivity of the tooth". Ignoring my suggestion for a root canal, she started the reduction. Her anesthetic shot was also painfully injected. Furthermore, the shot gave me a HIGH, instead of numbing my gums, so the molar saw was painstakingly real! I complained about the situation, and she gave me another 4-5 shots, that made me even HIGHER, yet barely covered my tooth pain. The reduction went on for an unbearable two hours, in between which she did the clay model TWICE. When the reduction finished, the temp was clearly out of place. She prescribed me no painkillers, and told me the "out of place" feeling for the temp crown is normal for the next 3-4 days, but if the pain persists, I should come in the office, which unfortunately was closing on Dec.22 to Jan 4 for the holidays (see the irony?). With no surprise, the out of place feeling persisted for the next 4 days, and the pain increased on Dec.21. Biggest mistake that I let the tooth sat for another day. By night of Dec.22, the pain suddenly exploded into a world of hammering and throbbing, but it was too late. I started by taking 2 tylenol a day, then 4, then 6, then 2 every 3 hours, with no reduction of pain. On the Dec.24, Christmas eve, it went on every 5 min for at least a min, as if someone took a jackhammer and started to drill down the molar. It was an excruciating sleepless night, yet it did not stop. The next day, it became a swollen pulsating wound, that I can not touch it in any slightest way. This went on for the ENTIRE holidays, not till Jan 3 2016 did the pain slightly subsided. on Jan 4 I immediately went to the office for an appointment. Dr.Torrano I believe heard my situation and took action. She took care of me herself. Her anesthetic shot was painless, direct, and instant numbing gum, like any good dentist shot would! The root canal went very well, and I also got tylenol 3 for the after pain. The gum pain only lasted 1.5 days, and no tooth pain after. I visited her for the 2nd round of root canal, and a week after the crown came (4th visit in 1 month!). The night before my crown, I went, and bit down on a piece of SOFT tofu ever so slightly, and crunch! The temp crown broke into two pieces!!! On the day of crowning, the other doctor came to do the procedure. Having HUGE doubts of her abilities, I asked her for her misjudgment on the root canal, and also why the temp crown would break off so easily against a defenseless piece of soft tofu. She brushed off on her impotency judgment, then blamed ME for breaking the temp crown. She stated "the temp crown broke off, and therefore shifted your molar slightly, so the crowning will be more difficult". As this statement went, the crowning undergone her usual two hours, as she filed and sawed the crown trying to fit into the reduction she crudely did the first time. The clear result, not two weeks later, the $1k ceramic crown I paid for broke into two...Dr.Torrano came to rescue again to another reduction, and crowning, which is working beautifully still. Despite the free second crown, I visited the office six times in two months. So in the end, your team is as good as your weakest link. Dr.Torrano, maybe you should consider changing partner to better your office. read more
