Up towards the back of the shop, they have the cafe and seating area. They do a variety of food such as making up sandwiches, chips, curry, fries, and all the usual breakfast, brunch and lunchtime fare. The food is just ok, nothing to write home about. It's cheap enough, bit tired looking inside, but nothing exceptional. The only thing about this place that is not mediocre, is the staff. They are sour faced, abrupt, and quite frankly downright rude, so they would need to do something about that for me to ever go back there again.

In a prime location, this has to be the town's most innovative bakery- selling a variety of breads including Guinness wheaten and Mediterranean loaves. There is also a wide range of (rather unusual) scones to buy, with everything from your ordinary fruit scone, to flavours such as Cadbury's crunchie and raspberry ripple. I am personally a big fan of the Snickers- flavoured scone, as the chocolate and caramel just melt in your mouth. Shaw's also makes a real effort to follow baking trends, creating an array of delicious delights such as cupcakes and whoopee pies. The bakery also provides a daily supply of 'Paddy's pizzas' (a famous Northern Irish snack consisting of soda bread with a pizza topping) along with sausage rolls and other pastries. At lunchtime, Shaw's sells an assortment of sandwiches and you can also buy a meal deal (consisting of a sandwich, cookie and drink) for less than £3.

Belfast Baking Company is located on the main Gilnahirk road, near the Maxol station and beside Corries Farm Butchers. Parking is tight in the area but it's worth taking your time and popping by if you can. There's a few tables and chairs outside the branch to site and indulge in some treats and inside you'll find all the things you'd expect from the Northern Ireland Bakery of the year, 2016. The Cherryvalley branch is stylish, well stocked and the staff were very helpful. Samples were provided too of a few items and I'll be heading back soon for some of their pecan pies as a result. I opted for some veda, baps and a few patisserie items but to be honest I couldn't bought one of everything as the presentation was stunning! Items are well packaged for travel too - top points here! If you're in the area, make sure to pop in and have look around, you won't leave empty handed.

I used to know people who lived near here so I would often call in to pick up a bite to eat after or before playing football in Ballyholme park with my friends in the long summer evenings. There is a lovely, local, home baked feeling about this place and the sausage rolls are to die for. Also, there is excellent pastries and cakes and the like on offer. I still frequent the Sheridan, it is one of the only places you can go in and still have a chat without feeling pressured to leave. The staff are amazing, they recently made a picture cake to perfection for my sisters birthday, but they did display it in the window which ruined the surprise. I suppose they were just keen to show off their work and why shouldn't they be. You can mould your diet around the Sheridan, toasted Crusty Bap for Breakfast, Sausage roll for lunch and Mince pie for dinner. Oh and if you want to get one of your 5 a day, I recommend an apple turnover. This will all cost you under £5 so you do not really have a reason not to do it.

The Antrim Road was crying out for a bakery/sit in deli like this and judging by the queues today the locals have already taken this place to their hearts. There's an exceptional take out selection which is clearly displayed on the wall. It can be tricky going to a new place and deciding what to get but I was sold on the Italian Style Panini with Salami, chorizo, pesto and mozzarella. These are pre made and ready to be toasted so you don't even have to wait around for the staff to combine the ingredients. I was really impressed with the quality of the food, fresh, flavoursome and incredibly delicious. Cheap too - at £3.75 I felt like I was robbing them. They have a great selection of buns and tray bakes and Yes, we did have one but shared it as they where quite substantial. They also do a takeaway service as typical home bakery produce. Filled soda's, sandwiches and baps are availible to take out and very reasonable! So around about £2.50 to £3.00 . They where non stop and it was nice that the sit in area was a little bit separate from the take away so it didn't feel overcrowded. With the prices and the quality of food I can see why they are non stop. Always a good sign for any coffee shop.
