Seth arrived on time, got right to work inspecting both of our fireplaces. He determined that our smaller one was was in good shape and safe for operations, no charge! He then serviced our larger, more used wood stove, by cleaning the flue, checking door operation and generally getting the stove to a safe operational status. We booked a chimney cleaning 3 weeks ago for our cabin in Arnold. we live 2 hours away the day if the appointment he is a no show no call?? 2 hours later i text him takes him another hour to text back saying my truck broke down we cant come today??? really it takes 4 hours being late and AFTER I text you where are you i get this lame excuse??? i know things happen but call your customer ket them know whats going on?? Then Seth says i will call you hopefully its a fast fix... well SETH still waiting for a call?? long story short needless to say he wont be getting our business.. good luck if anyone uses this company no communication at all .. guess we drive back home with still no clean chimney . so much for a cozy fire at the cabin read more

I scheduled a Chimney Service with Seth and he arrived as planned. Since I was a new customer, I briefly mentioned that I was a little concerned about some recent reviews I had read on social media about his company. Seth took the time to explain to me that there had been a few issues the last two years, that had disrupted his business and communication with clients. Some nagging equipment failures, a medical issue with his spouse and an unexpected death in the family. I was sad to learn of these issues, but was honestly relieved when he said business was back up and running smoothly. I'm glad I gave him the opportunity to complete the service for my cabin. Great company. Very helpful. Did a fantastic job cleaning my chimney and taking a look at my wood burning stove.

They were recommended to me by a stove company. I called on November 3rd to make an appointment to get my chimney cleaned. He texted me and asked for pictures of the stove and pipe outside. He then said he was 4 weeks out. I made an appointment with him for Friday, December 18, 2020 at 11:30 am. The price was to be $150.00. It is a 110 mile trip (RT) for me, I was there, cleaning the cabin, the blinds were open and the TV was on. I never heard a knock on the door. My husband came back from the store and said there was a card in the door. It had been left there 10 minutes prior at 11:50. Seth (the owner) left his card and said he was "Sorry" that he missed me and that I should give him a call so that we could discuss my chimney. As far as I was concerned, there was to be no discussion, The job was to be preformed and paid for that day. I called him immediately, which was about 10 minutes after 12:00. He did not call me back, So I don't suggest that you use anyone that will only "Text" you and not call you back on such an important matter for me. I will not call him back. read more

We've been using Ash Away for as long as I can remember. They are reliable, honest and trustworthy. Many people even share the location of their hide-a-keys so Seth can go into their cabin and do the work without anyone being present. If you're up in Bear Valley they usually try and schedule jobs in the area together so you might have to schedule ahead of time....and if that's the case it's worth the wait. We used Ash Away today for the first time and were really impressed with the level of service provided. We've owned our place in Arnold for many years and were very overdue for a chimney sweep. Seth was very personable and extremely knowledgeable. He left the area around the fireplace cleaner than when he arrived and was careful during the sweep to not get soot everywhere by tarping everything off inside. Would highly recommend. Wow, what a great experience! Seth came on time, was knowledgeable and honest. I recently bought my home and wasn't sure what I would be charged for a cleaning and check up. I wouldn't be able to tell what I needed so I had to trust Ash Away. The result? A clean bill of health for the fireplace and a small inspection fee. When I had my first fire of the year I had some soot on the top of my stove. Thought it was time to get the chimney cleaned. Seth came out and inspected and told me the chimney was fine, didn't need to be cleaned. He explained a few things about the pipe and fittings that put my mind at ease. He could have easily gone ahead and cleaned the chimney and charged me for it, I wouldn't have known the difference. I put a post on a FB online sales group for a good chimney sweep. Two people came back with Ash Away. I called around several places for a quote on a "sweep & inspect." I had just bought a house with a wood stove and had no idea the condition OR how to use it. I went with Ash away because Tony, the man who left me a return message sounded very polite and knowledgeable. My appointment was for a Monday.. the Monday after the blizzard of 2016. I did not think they would show up or call. The appointment was for 1-3pm Monday. I called at 1130am. Not only were they coming, they were on their way already. My two techs were great. Took of their shoes (we do not wear shoes in the house) and were polite. They even went on the roof and kicked off some snow. Jared, who was also a fireman, showed me some issue - fixed it (chimney was put back together wrong from last person) and actually showed me how to use the wood stove. I've found Seth to be the utmost pro-he's honest, timely and his prices are more than fair.
