They did a fantastic job catering my 50 person backyard wedding. It was the perfect food for the "BBQ cookout" vibe we were going for that was a little more elevated than just simple hotdogs and burgers (plus the vegans in our group were happy with the tasty variety of options). The wonton chips were addicting, the meat was tender, and all the fun toppings were very tasty. Everyone was raving about the food and vibe of the food. I had the option of having the food truck itself rented but instead opted to go for drop catering. All their food travelled really well in this format and was easy for our guests to help themselves from the buffet we set up. They were very flexible with us the whole time, including delivery location & time, menu options and what they could do in our budget. Best of all the budget wasn't wallet-busting. We had a pretty tight wedding budget and I'm SO glad I didn't have to settle on Chipotle catering or pizza. Plus the leftovers kept well! If I had one downside, is that communication was slow in the start (1 week to get a reply via email). I get it though - they've got a food truck to run. But still - we were actively getting quotes from multiple vendors and we almost wrote them off for ghosting us until we actually got a reply back. Figuring out the menu was similar long response times. The communication itself though was clear and thorough, and as we got closer to our date response times were within a day or two, so it didn't end up being a problem. Was looking forward to Ash and Oil after seeing Yelp reviews. They were hired to serve lunch at a membership event. Unfortunately, it was completely disappointing. If you were to pass by and see a long line in front of their trailer, you might think it was very popular, but the line was due to extremely slow service. There were four couples in front of us, each were allowed to order one item per person, yet it took 40 minutes for us to get our order. We tried a Loaded Hot Dog and Steak Loaded Wonton chips which would have cost $13 and $17. For the price we expected each to be loaded with toppings, but the portions were somewhat small. From comments we heard around us, others felt the topping amount to be skimpy also, leaving you hungry. We would expect the price to be more reasonable for a food trailer because there is no building overhead and staff cost. $17 for a small tray of Wonton wrappers with toppings compared to $20 we paid for lunch yesterday at Macaroni Grill including bread, Soup, Salad and Pasta with meatballs. We want to support small businesses, but we would not recommend Ash and Oil due to service and value. read more

My wife and I both loved our sandwiches from Ash and Oil! I had the Steak sandwich and my wife had the Chicken sandwich both were delicious!

Stood in front of the truck for about 15 minutes w/o being acknowledged - we showed up after the initial rush, so they were busy with orders and we expected to wait a bit, but the people in the truck served up 3 orders over the next 15 minutes while we waited and didn't even offer eye contact or a wave to let us know we were noticed. Bummer because the food looked and smelled good. I will note that they had set a chalk line to queue at, which we waited behind for about 10 of the minutes, before we walked up a bit closer (still maintaining social distance) to indicate we were ready to order, but no acknowledgement whatsoever. I'll try again the next time they're around and adjust this review if appropriate, benefit of the doubt and all that. read more

The concept of Ash and Oil is pretty straightforward-- choose your protein and then choose how you'd like it served. Step 1: Choose your protein The day I tried Ash and Oil, they were serving their bourbon steak ($15), Filipino BBQ Chicken ($12), and a tofu option. Step 2: Choose your vessel-- lettuce wrap, tortilla wrap, or put it over rice All items include a side of raw veggies (cucumbers, tomato, carrots, lettuce, onions) and your choice of a sauce (herb aioli, spicy aioli, citrus aioli, bourbon sauce) Step 3: Pick your extras-- I know they had polenta tots on the menu, but I have completely forgotten what other extras they were offering (for an added price, of course). I opted for the Filipino BBQ Chicken over rice with the herb aioli. I think they were kind of backed up when I went because I was told that the wait was going to be about 20 minutes, which normally would be very frustrating for me, but I wasn't in a particular hurry and I appreciated that they told me this upfront before I ordered. I wasn't expecting that much from Ash and Oil, so I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed my meal. The chicken by itself was very flavorful and tender, and with the herb aioli, it tasted that much better. From the Rice Bowl, to the Tortilla Wraps, & if you'd like to skip a carb the Green Leafy Lettuce. Then follow-up with the choice of 3 House made sauces. The Herb Aioli, the Spicy Aioli, & the Citrus Aioli. My eyes were rolling heavy for the Deep Fried Marinaded Pork Belly on rice & I went with the Spicy Aioli with no regret. As an extra that sounded fun & intriguing, I had to have the Crispy Polen-tots. I then choose the Citrus Aioli. Service was fast and easy. As I waited, the front man was helpful and willing to answer any questions I had about Ash & Oil. If the wanton chip bowls were rice bowls, it would be much more satisfying, and much more reasonably priced. Paying $14 or so for an ounce or so of food is absurd. I got the Filipino BBQ chicken and rice with spicy sauce. It was a really small portion for 12.00 dollars a lot of rice but barely any chicken. The chicken had good flavor in seasoning but the chicken itself was way too fatty so I didn't really get any chicken. Just the fatty part. Overall it was ok but if there was more chicken or it was at least actual meat OT would've been 4 stars. I think they need to either Lower price for this portion or add a bit more chicken. Went here yesterday during trivia at At Ease Brewery. Very expensive, the person working there was not courteous at all--a lot of attitude. One would hope expensive and attitude would at least result in exceptional or at least palatable food. Wrong. I ordered the $13 hotdog (no one should ever ever pay this for a wiener). The product was dry, unsatisfying, and ultimately painful. Not to be graphic, but my digestive system has been upside ever since. Within 10 minutes of finishing this dog, my stomach cramped and I woke up with a headache this morning. Unnecessary to say, I'm sure, but I will never drop $13 there again. Had a sampling food from this adorable food truck. bourbon steak pita, asparagus with egg and ceviche tostadas. Steak pita= I could and would eat two or three in one sitting...this pita is mind blowing delicious. Perfectly executed. Steak cooked proper, warm Pita, veggies crisp and cool and that spicy mayo yummo. Asparagus: yes this chef knows how to cook her veggies right, egg was rich and creamy, herbed aioli was finger licking good, perfectly composed dish.
