I just recently moved to Oakland two months ago and I have to say that I called around many shops to have my car worked on and everybody quoted me a really high prices this is the only shop that was straight up about what could be wrong with the car they told me that I could pay for diagnostic but because I knew what was wrong with my car and they gave me a quote on how much labor would be and they did find an additional part that needed to be replaced and still kept their word about the labor cost I am super satisfied with the shop and will be taking our other car to the shop I highly recommend if you need someone trustworthy and on a budget. I came back here again to fix my mom's Rav4. She only needed new brake pads that could pretty much be done anywhere around the block in Hayward. I drove all the way here because Ive experience their service and they earned my trust as mechanics. This time I was charged roughly ~$260 to have all the pads replaced which was fair. I couldnt tell if the pads were really worn or not but I could feel it while driving. I told the mechanic to use his best judgement to make the repair or not. Now this I would NOT do anywhere else. Why? 99% of the mechanics will repair anything if broken or not just to earn a buck or two. My background story is that I had brought my car in for a Starter replacement. It only had trouble starting sometimes. I left my car there for 2 days hoping they replicate it but couldnt and they suggested that I should put a hold on the repair to save money. I dont know much honest and modest mechanics like this one. But I was certain and got it done anyways. Anyways.... got the brake pads replaced and came back the next FEW HOURS only to pick it up. I was only expecting new pads but got my rotors resurfaced too!! Im not quite sure of his name as I might have forgotten. I believe it may be Quynh or Quyen?? Just look for the asian man. But stop by for your repair needs. It might be a little further out of your way but the quality of service and pricing is by far my best experience. read more

I have come here since 2009 when my car's timing belt broke. They did a very good job and even though the car was not completely fixed after, the mechanic looked at it and found that more work needed to be done. So went back under the hood and felt that since they should've seen the extra work there was no need to charge me more so to make sure my car was good when I brought it back. Over the years I've taken my car to them to get brakes alternator starter all types of work done and referred all of my friends if they're in Oakland . The place may not be in a convenient location but I definitely trust them and know that they work with you as a client to make sure everyone's happy. read more

The only reason why I won't give 5 stars is because this shop needs to find another office assistant she really needs to know the difference between asking questions and and trying to get aggressive my husband and mother in law where asking the mechanic questions regarding the warranty not the one he offered but if the part had warranty and I guess the mechanic didn't understand which okay that's fine but for the office assistant to start recording and taking pictures which is horrible the office assistant needs to be replaced or trained how to act with customer who given the shop a lot of business but the mechanic does amazing work I just wish I could give a better rating but unless they train the staff better that won't happen read more

A mechanic who was referred to me by my sister in law, referred me to this shop in May 2012 and this was the best experience ever! I had met with the first mechanic near my job one morning and he changed my break pads, as soon as I got ready to pull off, my car wouldn't start. The mechanic looked at it and he diagnosed the possible problem, then he got on the phone and called Sean at ASE and did a hand off. Sean at ASE took such good care of me, he helped me get towed clear across town, during rush hour to drop my car off and then helped me get to and from BART. I went here for a timing belt. They gave me a good price and they got the job done by the end of the day. I drove two days and on the second day my radiator plug sprund a leak. As it turns out this was not a consiquence of the repair, but of old age of the plastic plug. I was able to get a replacement and was on my merry way. read more

Please beware of this place. I have brought my cars here a few times. The second time I brought a car here they supposedly fixed a problem but forgot to connect a hose correctly resulting in my car breaking down on the side of the road and then it needing to be towed. When I told these guys the problem they DID NOT take ownership in their work. The other weird thing is the other car I brought to them now intermittently has problems after I leave there shop? WTH I had a big heart to think I just had bad lucked but after a few times I figured out that this father and son run shopped is as shady as they get. Very accommodating over the phone and in person. I needed a tow but didn't know any cheap towing in my area and Quan (If I spelled his name right) gave me a referral to someone they closely work with and he charges $45 minimum (it was a 1.5 mile tow). Unfortunately, I couldn't get a hold of him and I needed a tow right then and there so I called someone else (I mentioned it in case you guys need a tow to ASE Auto Repair, just fyi they'll refer you to someone). Anyways, when we got there Quan helped us. He was very helpful and he even educated us on the parts of our car and gave us advice on what we can do on our own to save us money...you can see his passion in his profession. So it turned out it was the starter and he let us know that everything was good except for a minor problem which is an exhaust leak which we didn't get fix. He was very honest, accomodating, no BS, price was worth it, and I'd recommend them to anyone and everyone! read more

I have been going here for years and I always was satisfied until now. My brakes went out. I had it towed to the shop. He found that my master brake cylinder went out. Of fix it. 250.00 . Well I payed drive my car home. It was way tight! I took it back a week later maybe 10 days to see if it would straightened out. Never did. Brought it back. He readjusted them. No charge for that. I take it back a third time. It was not stopping well. He said the brakes may have gotten damaged when the master brake cylinder leaked. I thought you just had it apart why didn't you notice it before? Any way 150.00 more. Ok fix it. I payed, picked it up, guess what? No! Again they are mushy. The very next day, I took it to another tire shop and payed 100.00 for them to adjust them right. Now the brakes are perfect. I took my car to him 3 different times for the same problem. Including the second shop it was in 4 times for the same problem. I gave him 2 stars because he used to do a good job. Now not so much. read more

My girlfriend and I have been going to Queng(Quin) for several years now. He's always been good to us.. Due to the economy, there's a lot of Mechanics that are hard up for money, and that'll lie to you just to get more money, but I've never had that problem out of Queng(Quin) or Sean.
