I had to have my brake fluid and oil replaced per schedule. Weatherford was going to charge me nearly $700. I have a 2014 328i. I called Eric the owner and he quoted me $359 or so. He was also 20 mile closer. He does great work and explained everything. He reset my sensor that had me changing brake lining/pads. I had twice as much lining than the sensor indicated. Your invoice before work is attempted is explained to you in great details and that is something that you usually do not receive at any business these days. Was excited to find this business because after calling around it sounded like he has changed the timing belt on a Porsche 944 and most likely has the special tensioner required. I asked for a quote he empathized he didn't have a current one and gave me one from 5 years ago to get an idea at a bare minimum. I asked if 5 years ago that included parts, because I have already gone through the trouble of ordering parts since most mechanics I've previously called have made parts and the tensioner an issue in working with my 1983 vehicle. When I mentioned I had the parts he mentioned he had trouble hearing me but said he had no interest in those words and hoped I could find someone to help me. He wasn't disrespectful in tone but he struck me off as having ptsd from cheap haggling customers when I was trying to get information. Granted he was claiming to have issues hearing me, but the 2 stars was for basically letting me know he had no interest in having me as a customer. Out of being highly disappointment I wanted to give 1 star, but I opted not to as my review is not based on the quality of his work and I want to be fair. My review is strictly focusing on customer service. When I called them, the owner's son Eric, who took over the business, answered the phone. Even though my mom's mgb had not been in for at least 10 years, he remembered my mom (from when he was 15 years old), and even though the company no longer services British cars, he "grandfathered" my mom in, and agreed to service her car, based on loyalty to her. He was very friendly and willing to discuss the matter at length, and very forthcoming with a lot of advice and help. It's even better to have one that has been fixing your families cars for almost two decades...(ouch I am aging myself). I have been going to Eric before he moved to the nicer shop and I live in San Ramon...he is worth the drive. Okay, my family has too many cars and Eric is one of the best service mechanics out there for European cars. You cannot afford to play games with your precious vehicle, and your loved ones that drive or ride in them. I know lots of mechanics and the good ones specialize. So if you have a Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, VW, Saab, Alfa Romeo and just maybe an old Triumph or MG. You found the right guy. You might have to bring donuts to beg him to work on other types of cars, but he will be honest with you and even point you to another shop that would better serve your needs...like my big Ford Van. Not everyone can fix my bus. So there are cars he will turn down...which makes sense, so ask him on the phone. They don't play games with you at this shop. I was referred to World Imported Car Service by a friend of mine who had taken his late model SAAB to this shop for many years. When I called to make an appointment to have my late model Mercedes worked on the shop attendant made me aware of the up front costs for analysis check and what to expect upon the visit. They kept their appointment on time and immediately worked on the problem with the car. AN hour later I received a call explaining what the issues were and requested permission to have the car worked on. Eric went to great detail to explain the ins and outs of the car in laymens terms and made me feel more comfortable with the machinations of the car itself. He also made recommendations and up front estimates of what to expect with the next visit. End result, the car has never worked better and the problems were now solved, with an average of an extra 5 miles per gallon after the repair. Just purchase a used 2007 Audi A3 and needed to have it serviced so I decided to take it here instead of my usual Audi dealer in Oakland. When I first spoke to Eric about the needed service he was very friendly and professional, because of that I felt comfortable about letting him service for my car. He gave me a thorough computer diagnostics and check all my belts, brakes, tires and fluids. He also invited me to drop back in for a follow up after his service and the car is running great. I had some rattling noise which was coming from under the car so he invited me back to check it. After 2 weeks I decided to drive by and see if he can look at my noise problem. He took me in within a few minutes and fixed the problem right away. I offered to pay for his time but he didn't charge me. As other reviewers have mentioned, Eric is a jewel. He clearly communicates that he loves the cars and he takes the time to explain somewhat esoteric details that are germane to the work. I had a 1983 Mercedes and I asked for a laundry list of checking and maintenance. He looked at the somewhat long list and said "All this is covered in the major service" So, for approx $750 he went thru the car, repaired a few small things, changed oil and filters and gave it a good inspection. Another mechanic had said I needed quite a few repairs. Eric nixed most of that. I would definitely go back. He was friendly, joyful and very knowledgable. I bring my VW here. Have had some fairly significant work done (timing belt change, transmission service) , as well as regular oil changes. Eric is a pleasure to deal with. What I really enjoy about him is that he will explain any problem he finds in detail, every cost, as well as provide a good lesson to mechanically ignorant people like myself on the whys and how's. I just joined Yelp for the sole purpose of rating this place. Eric is amazing. He worked on my Mercedes and actually helped me diagnose a problem for free. I needed a new battery, and he installed it free. Here's the real reason he's amazing. I just traded my MBZ in for Lexus Hybrid. Lexus dealerships gouge you on maintenance pricing. I asked Eric if he worked on Lexus Hybrids. He said he could, but prefers to stay more of an expert with makes and models to keep his niche, and not cut into specialties of other local dealers. I asked him for a recommendation, and he told me of a place in S.F. that gets RAVE reviews. I called them, and their price for the service I will need was HALF of the Lexus Dealerships.
