Went in for a check engine light... and he recommended to see a transmission expert. Very honest and knowledgeable mechanic. I would support his business in the future. read more

Was recommended here and it was the best experience ever! John was very kind and helpful and the price was great I will most definitely come here again and recommend them a million times over read more

Ok ok ok people I'm back to write another review. And for those of you who have read my reviews you all know I DO NOT DO THIS VERY OFTEN SO IF I WRITE A REVIEW YALL KNOW YALL SHOULD PAY ATTENTION. I got an inside tip from a buddy of mine to take my vehicle to John Owner of this establishment and of course I did. And let me tell you I was VERY VERY HAPPY I DID SO. I own a 2007 Toyota Avalon XLS and needed a major tune-up and my alternator replace along with flushing transmission fluid. I was able to buy and bring my own parts and was charged SUCH A FANTASTIC PRICE I HAD TO GIVE JOHN AND MR. CHANG A HUGE TIP. John is the coolest, most honest mechanic I'VE EVER ENCOUNTERED IN MY LIFE. So much so I took my wife's RAV 4 to replace the brakes and my daughters car I helped purchase for her to do rear shocks, alternator, and tune-up. I just wish I heard about John earlier in my life . So NOW PEOPLE IF U WANT QUALITY WORK, AT A VERY REASONABLE PRICE TAKE UR VEHICLE HERE AND YOU WILL NOT REGRET YOUR DECISION TRUST ME. I LOVE THIS PLACE I WILL BE GOING HERE FROM NOW ON read more

I came for a maintenance repair out of a referral from a friend. I was hopeful this would be my go-to mechanic shop especially considering the rave reviews. But my interactions with John the owner were a bit abrasive. I tried chatting with him regarding the job and the cost breakdown. He seemed particularly irritated at the latter question and asked me sarcastically if I brought my own supplies to do the job. I said I'd be okay to do it here and he agreed in a huff. Tom the mechanic was the one who did the repair and he was quick, efficient, and friendlier, even offering me a chair as I waited. In the end, I asked if I could come back to do future repairs if needed and John muttered to Tom to tell me, that they can't do other repairs with my specific car. This left me with a weird feeling and wondering why John couldn't tell me directly. The prices are fair but I wish there was slightly friendlier service. I suppose it can be a hit or miss depending on John's mood. read more

The last honest mechanic. John is awesome he's honest and reliable. If you are looking for a great shop to work on your vehicle, I recommend this shop. I have been a customer for over 30 years. read more

I literally only got 8 words out of my mouth before "John" cut me off and rudely told me he couldn't tell me "if" he could do the work I was looking for. Apparently, I needed to make an appointment so he could assess it. Work is pretty straight forward, catalytic converter replacement, and my insurance is paying for it. This was a referral from someone....and it won't go past me. Sir, perhaps you are busy, but it takes just as much effort to be nice as it does to be rude. read more

John is great and his reputation speaks for itself. He was highly recommended as a trusted mechanic so I drove my truck from San Jose to San Leandro to inspect my check engine light. My truck runs great. Thanks John! read more

I have been coming here for more than 25 years with several different cars and the owner (John) has always been honest and fair on the repairs. I just brought in my car on Tuesday 7/18/17 to check why my engine light came on and then turned off, as well as for a tune-up. John told me that my #4 ignition coil mis-fired. Instead of telling me I have to replace all four of them, he only recommended to replace one. His price is fair, he never suggests unnecessary repairs and I highly recommend his services. As long he can service my cars I will only go to him. read more

This is my go to spot whenever I have a car problem. They tell you exactly what you need and don't try to over sell you. This place is so close to my house. Each time I need something done, I just drop off my car and just walk home. Once they're done, I just walk back and pick it up. Great place for brakes, window replacement, oil change, starter replacement, and more. Very reasonable pricing too. read more

The owner John is amazing, he is very fair with his pricing. I bring both of my vehicles to John any time i need work done on them. I would recommend this auto shop to anyone. read more

Very honest and very well priced. Had a chat with John (owner) he has had the place over 25 years. Smaller place but quality of work is great. Get an oil change or fix your cars problems and go hangout at the fresh fruit supermarket across the street! read more

Windsor Square Auto Service - Front of Building - Auto Repair Near Me - San Leandro, California

Special thanks to John... I had a problem with a smog fail test and i called him up, he was so nice that he asked me to bring the reports to check. I went and i realized im dealing with a real professional. He figured out the error in the report when the smog station technician couldn't. I went back to the smog station, told them what their mistake was and my car passed the test. John is not only a professional, but also a decent and a respectful person. Thank you John :) read more

So glad I called John at Windsor today! He fixed my car in a matter of hours at a great price.

First time here!!! What great service from John (owner) and his mechanic (didn't get his name) on my 2006 Honda Civic. He made me have faith and fall in love with my car again :) Love taking care of my little car! So many more years it will give me read more

Went to get my car brakes, oil and rotors changed. Did a great job and did it within a few hours. Customer service is amazing. The owner here is very nice, kind, and honest! He saved my cars life and mines!!! I'll be a returning customer. read more

I went there this morning and want to have oil change for my Prius. Eventually they don't do oil change for hybrid vehicles. One star represents nothing but I still need to give rating when I write this review. Hope this can help. read more

Great place! I recently brought in my Honda for a transmission fluid change and brake system flush. When I came in, I thought I needed to do a bunch of other random things, but John is very clear about what actually needs to be done. He doesn't try and sell you on unnecessary work. He even told me what items on my list I didn't need to do at this time. That level of honesty is rare to find in an auto service shop. John is very friendly and professional. On top of all this, he delivers on time! He told me he'd have my car ready by 11am, and he called me at 10:45am to let me know my car was ready! I will definitely be bringing my car back for future service with him! Highly recommend the place and like other reviews have said, they're really quite busy and very well liked! Ran into a return customer while I was there and she adored John and his team. read more

Called Windsor Square Auto Service and talked to John on the phone about an issue with my car. I had changed out a bad battery in March, then it was due for a smog test. Couldn't do the smog test as the vehicle had not completed its OBDII (On Board Diagnostics level 2) self test for the catalytic convertor. He could of told me to come in and charge me for a diagnostic 5 gas analyzer to test the exhaust to see if the convertor was bad. But he didn't, explaining to me that if there's no check engine light on or stored codes from the past, then the convertor is probably ok. Just have to keep driving the vehicle between 55 and 65 when possible with an easy foot on the gas peddle. I, myself, have been a heavy duty journeyman diesel mechanic for over 40 years, but this type of testing and repair is beyond my capabilities, as in the equipment required to test for a bad catalytic convertor. If I need a good gas mechanic in the future, I will most likely go and see John. I found his repair facility from a referral on the Nextdoor.com website. read more

Great auto repair excellent prices John serviced and tuned up my 2006 ford truck very pleased!!!! This will be my new go to place for all repairs. read more

I will NEVER take my car anywhere if I can help it. John is a rare gem.He is kind and does the BEST work around. He is honest (no, I mean real honest) As a female that is uneducated in cars and there still are those unscrupulous individuals that take advantage of that....I can't get over my luck.I highly would suggest getting your work done here.Thank You John. !! read more

John - The owner is great. He provides a great service at a great price. A true honest mechanic. A must for trustworty service you can depend on. When he is unable to do a repair (A.C.) he will send you to a reliable person who can. read more

This place is an excellent place to get a tune up or to get smog tests done. They all seem to be really honest guys here and they are always working on cars so they must be doing something right. I've been going here for a while now and they have always been helping me through my automobile troubles. The only thing that I don't really like is the wait before they can work on my car. That's the drawback of them always working on vehicles. Too bad they aren't a bigger mechanical shop and can only work on so many cars at a time. read more

I brought my van to him to have a heater motor problem fixed. John (the owner) and Tom (his other mechanic) went above and beyond what would be normally expected in fixing the problem. John actually drove me around to different parts store to find the right motor. And this was done at a very reasonable cost. Both John and Tom are really nice guys who are easy to deal with, and know what they're doing. Wish I had found them earlier. I'd give them more than 5 stars. read more

What am I thankful for? That last night when my truck broke down, I was able to nurse it home safely. That today my mechanic at Windsor Square Auto Repair John Yu, had room to look at my truck this morning. That it was in fact the VSS Sensor and that John was able to determine which of 3 sensors it was on the first try. That I happened to have the cash to get it fixed, and I am now back on the road. Thank you God for blessing me with the resources to fix the issue. Feeling truly blessed. read more

My family and I have used Windsor Square Auto for well over a decade on a variety of cars and issues. We have ALWAYS been impressed with the service and value we receive from John. Finding a good mechanic at a decent price is hard. However, finding an honest mechanic can be even harder. I have no doubts that John has been straight up with us regarding our repairs. I absolutely recommend Windsor square auto without hesitation. As long as I am in the area, I will never go elsewhere. read more

Honestly the best place I've ever brought my car! John takes great care of my Toyota and he's also super friendly, honest and professional. I used to go to the dealership but now i wouldn't take Any of my cars anywhere else! read more

This establishment is great! We have been bringing our company vehicles here for over 15 years...I should have reviewed this company on Yelp years ago, but I don't really use this website much. Anyhow, John is the owner and he is amazing. He provides excellent customer service and always does a great job with our vehicles. His prices are fair and the quality of work is outstanding. read more

I've been taking my cars to Windsor from the past few years, and I'm very happy with their service, their prices are reasonable, the owner John is very nice and honest. Highly recommended. read more

this man John is a crook who performs half ass repairs that dont last! Then when i brought my vehicle back he called me a liar. My wife brought her honda in to repair the trunk latch, a week later the trunk wouldnt shut, he then accused my wife of slamming the trunk which she doesnt even use.I brought my classic cadillac in to replace a gasket & he didnt cover the area he was working on scratching my car down to the metal which he again denies, this car didnt have a scratch on it & he knows it! I also had a problem once with my other car which he said i needed a sensor which cost me$700 & did nothing & i still have the same problem, his response oh well i did the work. so $700 down the drain? I'm really debating about sueing this disrespectful FOOL! read more

I've been going here for 10+ years - simply the best. Oil changes, brakes, timing belts, you name it on several different cars and they always do an exceptional job while beating everyone else's prices. John, the owner, is super personable and will be honest with you about your repairs, letting you know if something isn't necessary or when recommending specific services. I'm living in the Central Valley now but bring my car here whenever I can because of the quality of the service. Highly recommended. read more

I never write reviews but had to because of the service i got today. Stopped by after getting quotes from a few other shops in the area. Only place that didnt try to overcharge and leave estimates open to be charged for more things later. Owner was honest and upfront about what was needed which i totally respected. Hard to find mechanics like that nowadays. Plus the price was really affordable compared to others. Im surprised this place doesnt have more reviews. read more

Probably the most honest mechanic I've ever dealt with doesn't charge out rages prices does what he says he's going to do and is always on time highly recommend John is a good guy read more

What more could I say that hasn't been said before! Between John and his Super Mechanic, these guys have a formula for success. Straightforward, honest, and all around good people. I have made appointments with no problem or very last minute problems with little to no fuss. Did I mention, they are VERY reasonable.... San Leandro's finest! read more
