Sometimes supermarket shopping is just utterly depressing. The Sainsbury's Local at the end of my…read moreroad is a complete joke. Every time I stroll in there to pick up an onion they're out of stock. It's uncanny. That's one reason why I choose to go to other local grocery shops like Paamir Super Market. They never run out of food and all of their stuff is quality. I don't know whether it's organic or not, but you can tell that the fruits and vegetables you pick up from here are way better quality than Sainsbury's; they're brighter and they simply look more edible. The prices are generally cheaper than at huge grocery chains as well. You can get four avocadoes for a pound here and a three tonne bag of rice for a fiver. I'll trade Sainsbury's shopping for this any day.

Okay, so first of all, this isn't open 24 hours; least of all on a Sunday, when it closes at 5PM…read morealong with every other grocery store in the area. That being said, even during the lockdowns, it is open fairly late and is really only one of two stores on this street that can be considered an actual supermarket. Enormous though it is- by UK standards- it isn't hard to get around inside and has two floors to keep things simple and easy to navigate, as well as an underground parking garage for those who dare to drive on these streets. Food and seasonal grocery-related items are on the bottom; clothing, toiletries, cookware, toys, and everything else are on the top. The prices here are very good for most items, and the quality ranges from, "I wouldn't trust this," to "I'll take ten!" The variety alone makes it worth the trip and the rather long checkout queues, as you're likely to be able to find everything you need in one go. Just don't expect a whole lot from the staff, as most will give you a lukewarm response, at best. If for any reason, you don't find what you're looking for, there are two other- smaller- grocery stores just a few minutes' walk down the street. And personally, I rather like walking here. Streatham High Street has a nice homey vibe to it.

Fun!…read more I headed down (rather further than my usual shopping ventures) as some friends had mentioned it and I wanted to check out this giant store that's now vaguely nearish me. There was something in particular I was looking for and while they didn't have it, 2 different associates were very nice in trying to help me locate it at another store. Overall, a nice place. Good location, lots of bright and natural light (always a bonus in any shop), and good selection.

Overall, I believe that they've delivered on that promise. This Wimbledon store is a good size but can't compete on floorspace with the giant Sainsburys Savacentre or the Tesco Extra store nearby. However, it's a good size for a town centre supermarket. They have a nice selection of food counters where you can buy and eat at the tables provided. Alternatively you can take home a ready made meal such as fresh pizza to be cooked at home. I like their fish counter very much and I tend to find more interesting fish and seafood here than at their competitors. I've bought fresh oysters, octopus and sushi grade fish here. They will scale and prepare any of the fresh fish for you. Similarly the butchers seem to know what they're talking about. The rest of the store is quite generic. One trick I feel they're missing is a loyalty scheme like Tesco's Clubcard

It hasn't changed much in the years that it's been part of the local shopping scene although the cafe has gone to make way for a plant department. There always seem to be queues at the checkouts although the store is generally well-staffed. This may be testament to its good value. I believe that it now stays open until 11pm on weekdays and, further to Yee Gan's review, there is a loyalty/price comparison card available.

As well as that they have another section that sells clothes, toys and even electronic equipment. Always be sure to have a look around there while doing your food shop as there are sometimes some bargains to be had such as the recent 25% off its clothing range or the half price toy sale that was on a few weeks back.
