It was a pre Christmas wet day here in North West England and this place was really inviting. They have an impressive selection of cakes and home made cheesecakes but it was savoury for the adults this morning. The kids, being kids opted for varieties of waffle. Some waffles were chocolate and banana based some were strawberries and cream - it turned out that the slightly under ripe banana was apparently optional - the 7 year old reckoned it could be left on the side. I ordered a mackerel omelette and it was delicious with the only issue being a cold plate. It was served with two pieces of bloomer which hopefully had butter. Cold plates don't work with hot breakfasts. My wife chose an off menu salmon omelette while junior opted for the full English breakfast which again was perfectly cooked. He chose fried halloumi as an extra. I tasted a piece and it was excellent. The coffees: flat white, cappuccino and junior's black were ace too. The welcome was friendly, the service very good but no excuse for cold plates with hot food.

How pretentious did that sound. They're very new, so that needs to be kept in mind - they might still have plans for the interior. It lacks colour and cosiness and didn't leave me feeling I'd want to return soon for another hot chocolate (which was lovely, by the way). I really want to support local small businesses but they have to be appealing to the locals. If they up the comfort factor and replace the furniture they'll be well on their way. I prefer the Cafe to the standard machines, as they always is a larger variety of different, exotic tea bags, coffee syrups and it is overall a nicer, more pleasant experience. The staff here seemed polite, as with any Waitrose stores and didn't mind listing the tea bags for me, in the end I settled for a Twyning's tea "Nutty Chocolate", which takes about 3-5 minutes to brew. My server didn't really know how to serve it, for example how long to brew or whether it was milk, but she still was helpful and found out for me, and presented it nice in a teapot. The tea was quite nice, especially when I left it to brew, and with a dash of milk, I liked the Nutty Chocolate flavour, although I still didn't prefer it to the "Bollywood Chai" tea of the same brand I had at the Waitrose Cafe previously in their Sheffield branch. This is quite a nice cafe, and has a modern feel to it, it is often good hours, which is near enough in line with the store, I was visiting when they were closing so it was quite quiet for me, as expected, but they don't need to remain open all day as that would be a waste of time and money, as customers just won't go in at a certain time. I also got a Waitrose yogurt for £1, which was available in store for 80p, a 20p price rise or 25% isn't too much, especially to be able to enjoy your yogurt in a cafe, my yogurt was okay, and it was good quality. I chosen Honey and ginger (or something like that), and although it wasn't fantastic, it wasn't bad. My tea, was above average but still could have been a nicer flavor, and the staff already knowing what to do would have been better, and maybe asking if everything was okay, with me being the only ones in the cafe, sat right next to the counter would have been good too, but still I can't complain about a place that gives you a free hot drink every day, with a great selection, good staff and a nice cafe its-self to warrant anything lower than a solid 3 star rating.

The sesame chicken noodle salad is delicious, though comes with a tonne of unnecessary lettuce, and the halloumi/red pepper toastie is a real stand out, served with spinach and harissa creme fraiche. Chains, as ever, aren't the most inspiring places to eat but, when you're hungry and working hard, you just want some food. A positive example in a saturated field.

After having a coffee from Starbucks elsewhere in the Terminal, I came here to grab some food to take on my flight, unfortunately, they don't have soup at this location which is one of my favourite things from Pret, after speaking to a barista, I was advised that the gluten-free options gave me a choice between crisps, fruit or a salad with no hot gluten-free food available. The selection of food was a little depleted, but they still had some sandwiches and salads left, just after the lunch rush. I originally was going to go for the chicken salad, but the lid was left open, so I didn't trust it, and went for the tuna nicoise salad instead. The quality of the ingredients inside the salad was good, especially the tuna and the dressing, I also liked the eggs, onions and tomatoes. I would have much preferred some proper iceberg lettuce for a more juicy crunch, compared to the salad leaves they'd used, which just tasted bland and unpleasant. The prices are a tad higher here compared to a regular Pret, as expected from an Airport location although you can still use your Pret subscription here, where you can get up to 5 barista-made drinks a day (at regular intervals) for £30 per month, which also includes a discount on food. I ended up talking to an Airport employee, who noticed my paper bag and mentioned how he likes to make use of this offer and that the good part about it is you can use it at Pret throughout the UK too outside of the airport. 3* - Limited selection of gluten-free food, but the salad was reasonable quality, some good offers too if you're willing to visit Pret often enough to make them worthwhile. Overall, a nice addition to the airport and the plentiful choice for coffee and more at Terminal 1.

The first few times I went I only had a little time so had to go for the pies and each have been amazing. LOVE the cherry, that is my favourite at the best of times and this one was great! When I've been on Fridays, it's been a lot more chill and relaxed, easily got a seat, enjoyed the layout and ambiance, looking out the window through the plants. When I went on a Saturday (granted it was around noon) it was very busy ... which is a good thing as I only wanted a takeout coffee. Every slice of pie I've had has been epic (especially the Manchester tart). The staff has always been super helpful and lovely. Recently I was able to sit down for longer and order a fuller meal. I went for the cowboy beans, and while they weren't what I was expecting, they were super tasty. Cannot recommend this place enough and I look forward to going back time and time again.

They have a daily freshly made soup, free wifi, a comfortable seating area, and even have skimmed milk and decaf tea for awkward customers like me. One of the staff tells me about some great future plans too, jacket potatoes and Carrs pasties for instance. Really nice place. I'd definitely come here again.

Bolton has it's fair share of chain coffee shops and setting up an Indie Shop, that is actually good enough to take on the big boys, is not an easy task. However, it seems Panda Coffee Co might have damn near pulled it off. From the signage, to the decor, this place has it nailed.
