I called 1st City Dental, and they were able to get me in right away. From the moment I arrived, the entire experience was exceptional. They took x-rays and told me I had gum disease and needed a deep cleaning, plus 2 to 3 crowns, plus a cavity filled. I had them do one crown then got more doubtful of the diagnosis (had no symptoms of gum disease or a cavity). I had them send my x-rays to another dentist in town who found no problems with my teeth and gave me a regular cleaning. All is well except that that the one crown Seabreeze did put on causes me to bite my cheek even months later and after two attempts to file it down some. Also, it took the dentist there several attempts to numb my tooth when prepping it for the crown and I still felt pain.

We've NEVER run into this kind of arrangement in our collective 140 year experience. One explanation, we thought, was that they couldn't hire or retain enough dental hygienists. And why is that? Are there not enough dental hygienists in St. Augustine, or does the practice not pay them enough or otherwise provide a miserable working experience? Who knows, and really we don't care. We are tired with tolerating drama anywhere for whatever reason, so we're going back to our "old" dentist in Orlando. We got two appts. about 10 days out from contacting them. I had a couple cavities that I just got filled 30 minutes ago, I had to run to Yelp to rave about it! Who raves about getting fillings? This was the most pleasant experience a patient could have during this procedure. Dr. Yang is professional, sweet, and his expertise was over-the-top evident. I didn't even feel the Novocaine injections. That takes some skill, because at previous dentists (across the street from them...) it felt like some sort of medieval stabbing and hammering at my teeth and hurt so bad. I didn't feel a THING with Dr. Yang and he drilled and filled two adjacent cavities way back in my mouth. His bedside manner is calming and his assistant was on top of everything and they had a nice rapport together. The place has a nostalgic family feel with state of the art modern tools and equipment. That's the best part about family practices. Couldn't recommend this place more!
