They tried to cover up their errors, and I had to go to different specialists to find out what had actually happened. In addition, it turns out that a dentist who had never even examined me accessed my treatment plan and added three unnecessary fillings to it. This same "dentist" was the one who damaged my mouth and caused months of problems. This was Lucia Greer and, interestingly enough, she no longer works there. Kevin Snyder behaved arrogantly and was very defensive when my husband and I went to speak with him about what had happened. This was after he blew off attempts to contact him for well over a month. He and Greer were huddled together in his office when we arrived to speak with him. My original dentist here was James Lee. I was under the impression that he had ordered all of these fillings, but it turned out that he had only put down a filling for a cavity. I remembered Flavia doing a cleaning when she said that she noticed some recessive areas in my gums. She called Lucia Greer over, who looked in my mouth for about two minutes. She then typed something into the computer and left. At the time, I had no idea that it was, in fact, HER who said I needed additional fillings. When I asked Snyder why a dentist who had never examined me was allowed to do procedures on me, he replied that when she peeked in my mouth during my cleaning, that counted as my actual evaluation. Yes, he really said that.

I would NOT recommend this dentist's office. I was told I needed a two-part "regular cleaning,"…read morewhich I've never had elsewhere, and it was later billed under a different code than what I was told--leaving me with unexpected charges. When I called to ask about it, the front desk laughed at me. The office refused to take responsibility, saying the employee who originally provided the information no longer works there. I also had 1 filling done, which my new dentist let me know was poorly done. On top of that, I saw 2 dogs inside the office during visits without service vests, which didn't seem sanitary for a healthcare setting (if they were legitimate service animals, I understand). Overall, very disappointed with the lack of transparency and professionalism. Take your money & teeth elsewhere!

I previously saw Dr. Rex Painter in his Palatka Island Dentist office for a dental implant. This…read moretime I needed crowns on two back teeth that were next to each other. Dr. Painter was able to accommodate my schedule & see me last month in his St. Augustine office. He has the CEREC 3D printer that allows him to manufacture ceramic crowns while you wait. He worked on one tooth at a time & his trained dental technician Cory used an intraoral camera to design the crown that was double checked by Dr. Painter. The tooth was then created by the CEREC printer, the fit & bite were checked & Cory glazed the tooth making it cosmetically beautiful. It was bonded in place then the procedure repeated with the other tooth. I was there less than 4 hours & happy I didn't have to wait for a dental lab to make the crowns & have to return 2-3 weeks later to get them placed. In addition, I was experiencing a headache & Dr. Painter, who is trained in both dental surgery and medicine, diagnosed a sinus infection & showed me the infection on x-rays. He prescribed an antibiotic that treated my problem & saved me time & money so I didn't have to see my family doctor, I highly recommend Rex Painter, DDS, MD & 1st City Dental Clinic. Ms. Bethany manages the office with two hygienists Larissa & Amy, two dental assistants/technicians Esmeralda & Cory & the receptionist/scheduler Andrea. As a dentist & physician myself, I travel all the way from Hawai'i to get my treatment from Dr. Painter because I want the best comprehensive care & his staff is caring, friendly & informative. Please tell Ms. Andrea Dr. Mike from Hawai'i sent you!

Dr. Trunk is super friendly but also great at what she does. She's also realistic - she encourages strong oral hygiene but doesn't talk to you like a lot of other dentists can (read: condescendingly). She just chats with you. The hygienists are also quick and professional and clearly enjoy what they do. I also had a more major procedure done (root canal and crown due to a mistake from a previous dentist) and that was as pleasant as could be. They are professional and do great work and I have had no issues with the crown since they put it in nearly two years ago.

My fillings were from many years ago. Now instead of $78, it's going to be thousands of dollars. Went to another office getting a filling not a root canal. Also, beware of the topical fluoride for adults....it is a profit center. I have never been asked if I wanted this additional treatment. I researched on line. Make up your own mind. Some research says it is great for adults, other research says it is all about the money. Dental Doctors has changed a lot in the past few years. Maybe it is time to make a switch. It appears their business is not nearly as busy as it once was. These are my views and I am not a doctor or dentist. As always, buyer beware.

Reading the reviews, I struggle to understand what people are talking about when it comes to lack…read moreof care...but after being in the office to witness some people's over-inflated sense of entitlement and their interactions with front staff, I can say that approach often dictates outcomes. I was transferred to St Augustine, and transferred care from my former dentist to St Augustine Family last year. Dr. Caggiano read my entire folder (I'm no stranger to dental work or dental procedures), even making mention of the note in my chart of my rapid metabolism and the only anesthetic that will work to numb me, and had plenty of it on hand for my first procedure. I knew that I had a prior cavity repair fail twice on my back lower left molar, but I didn't have the time to get it fixed properly. A prior dentist had attempted to repair this and couldn't manage the water from the drill, and it choked me multiple times.(Water in the lungs is not fun) First procedure: Failed cavity repair on a deep tooth way in the back that I had less than favorable experiences with. After discussing options w/ Dr. Caggiano- and my never wanting to get a root canal - we opted to crown the tooth. I'll try it one more time- on my second visit. Dr. Caggiano was very communicative during the procedure and 2 assistants worked diligently to keep the water out of my throat during the drilling with 2 large bore suction hoses running together. Their crown impressions were on point, and the temp crown held for the 2 weeks that we had to wait for the new one to be made. Over a year later, no issues with the crown and just had my semi-annual cleaning. No cavities, no gaps in the crown.

My insurer, United Health Care, says most of the things in the treatment case should be covered. United Dental agent called them but could only leave a message. My current plan will expire at the end of June and I'm afraid the work will not be completed. What is going on over there?
