I saw Dr. Gordon in 2020 for tooth pain referred by my then pcp. He was apparently more concerned…read moreabout the cosmetic aspect of my teeth and did what he wanted to do, not what should have been done. This experience with has set me back further with issues in the two teeth he decided to put crowns on. When I attempted to speak to Dr Gordon about this, he yelled at me, like it was my fault. I've been told now by 3 other dentist/endodontist the crowns he did were not built up correctly, not placed on my remaing teeth, correctly poor fitting, and both teeth needed root canals BEFORE crowns should have been put on. Neither crown would stay on either tooth. So I have been in pain and out more money withwith having to get root canals that should have been done before and replacing the 2 crowns he decided to do. I'm extremely dissatisfied with Dr. Gordon lack of professionalism and the extremely poor quality of services he provided. It's cost me a lot of money, pain, for his mistakes.

I had been experiencing jaw and tooth pain on a stay to our family retreat in St. Augustine (…read morebummer right?) I waited to see if the pain would subside, but it continued, so I googled dentists and found Dr. Daniel Haeussner on Yelp. Called and talked to Kara, who was so kind a welcoming and they fit me in the same day to see what was going on. Everything from their lovely office, to their friendly staff, to their service was top notch. Kim, my dental assistant, quickly put me at ease and assured we'd address what the issue is as she took X-rays and made me comfortable. Dr. Haeussner came in and let me know everything looked good in the X-ray. He asked if I had been stressed lately (who hasn't!? But my job has been very stressful lately) and thought I may be grinding my teeth. He asked if I had also been experiencing headaches, which last week I had terrible headaches, so much so I got a Covid test just to be sure! He did a bite test, and even when I thought there is no way this pain is coming from grinding, he was sweet and did another one just to ease my concerns. He recommended a warm compress and anti-inflammatory. I could not believe this was causing this sort of pain, so I was so relieved to hear the news! I thought for sure I needed emergency filling or root canal. My dad is a dentist in Michigan and so this was my first experience outside of family. Dr. Haeussner assured me there were no major concerns and I appreciated his honest, sincere compassion with the situation. Funny enough, we laughed how my dad is also named Daniel, and I saw the Dr. Dan of St. Augustine. Anyone who is looking for a dentist, look no further! And this is coming from the daughter of a dentist. Thank you Kara, Kim and Dr. Haeussner for taking care of me while I was away!

Reading the reviews, I struggle to understand what people are talking about when it comes to lack…read moreof care...but after being in the office to witness some people's over-inflated sense of entitlement and their interactions with front staff, I can say that approach often dictates outcomes. I was transferred to St Augustine, and transferred care from my former dentist to St Augustine Family last year. Dr. Caggiano read my entire folder (I'm no stranger to dental work or dental procedures), even making mention of the note in my chart of my rapid metabolism and the only anesthetic that will work to numb me, and had plenty of it on hand for my first procedure. I knew that I had a prior cavity repair fail twice on my back lower left molar, but I didn't have the time to get it fixed properly. A prior dentist had attempted to repair this and couldn't manage the water from the drill, and it choked me multiple times.(Water in the lungs is not fun) First procedure: Failed cavity repair on a deep tooth way in the back that I had less than favorable experiences with. After discussing options w/ Dr. Caggiano- and my never wanting to get a root canal - we opted to crown the tooth. I'll try it one more time- on my second visit. Dr. Caggiano was very communicative during the procedure and 2 assistants worked diligently to keep the water out of my throat during the drilling with 2 large bore suction hoses running together. Their crown impressions were on point, and the temp crown held for the 2 weeks that we had to wait for the new one to be made. Over a year later, no issues with the crown and just had my semi-annual cleaning. No cavities, no gaps in the crown.

I keep getting messages to make an appointment to come in, and…read moreI do, but when I arrive they print me up a "treatment case" with wildly different patient responsibility charges. My insurer, United Health Care, says most of the things in the treatment case should be covered. United Dental agent called them but could only leave a message. She said if I don't hear from them I should call and tell them to call United Health Care Dental. I hadn't heard from them so I called. No answer. My current plan will expire at the end of June and I'm afraid the work will not be completed. What is going on over there?

When I called to ask about it, the front desk laughed at me. The office refused to take responsibility, saying the employee who originally provided the information no longer works there. I also had 1 filling done, which my new dentist let me know was poorly done. On top of that, I saw 2 dogs inside the office during visits without service vests, which didn't seem sanitary for a healthcare setting (if they were legitimate service animals, I understand). Overall, very disappointed with the lack of transparency and professionalism. Take your money & teeth elsewhere!

I previously saw Dr. Rex Painter in his Palatka Island Dentist office for a dental implant. This…read moretime I needed crowns on two back teeth that were next to each other. Dr. Painter was able to accommodate my schedule & see me last month in his St. Augustine office. He has the CEREC 3D printer that allows him to manufacture ceramic crowns while you wait. He worked on one tooth at a time & his trained dental technician Cory used an intraoral camera to design the crown that was double checked by Dr. Painter. The tooth was then created by the CEREC printer, the fit & bite were checked & Cory glazed the tooth making it cosmetically beautiful. It was bonded in place then the procedure repeated with the other tooth. I was there less than 4 hours & happy I didn't have to wait for a dental lab to make the crowns & have to return 2-3 weeks later to get them placed. In addition, I was experiencing a headache & Dr. Painter, who is trained in both dental surgery and medicine, diagnosed a sinus infection & showed me the infection on x-rays. He prescribed an antibiotic that treated my problem & saved me time & money so I didn't have to see my family doctor, I highly recommend Rex Painter, DDS, MD & 1st City Dental Clinic. Ms. Bethany manages the office with two hygienists Larissa & Amy, two dental assistants/technicians Esmeralda & Cory & the receptionist/scheduler Andrea. As a dentist & physician myself, I travel all the way from Hawai'i to get my treatment from Dr. Painter because I want the best comprehensive care & his staff is caring, friendly & informative. Please tell Ms. Andrea Dr. Mike from Hawai'i sent you!
