An open air restaurant with great vibe, and the legendary Argentinian beef? Yes please…read more This is the most exciting restaurant in the most exciting corner of the town. Beautiful decor, open air all around, filled with happy people. The service of course is impeccable. The bread came with 3 salsas, they were all amazing. The sausage and asparagus appetizers were absolutely delicious. My La Vaca steak was fatty, juicy, seasoned well, cooked perfectly. I would highly recommend this place!

They have a wide selection of items and is a great restaurant for a large party. I ordered the salmon dinner. Each meal is served with their house salad. The dressing they use is delicious! It's a honey mustard base but it's not overpowering and is very light and refreshing. If you get anything from this review please please please try the crujiente de platano for dessert! It's so delicious, has great texture from the crunchy cookie/wafer crujiente, and is still very light! It was definitely the table's show stopper for the evening. The service is incredible. They are generous and very attentive. They have menus in both English and Spanish. I believe our waiters name was Alejandro. He was very kind and did his best to communicate with us in casual conversation throughout the evening. I'd highly recommend this establishment!

Ajiic Tango, Ajijic…read more After a long day of hiking and walking around Ajijic, I was absolutely exhausted and waiting for my ride back to Guadalajara when I came across Ajiic Tango, an Argentinian restaurant. Being Argentinian myself, I thought, "Well, why not? A little taste of home sounds pretty good right about now!" The restaurant itself is lovely. It has a warm, inviting atmosphere, with lots of leather, comfortable seating, and an open, lively feel. The place was packed, and people seemed to be having a great time enjoying their meals, especially the meat dishes. It definitely had the feel of a popular local spot. The service was excellent, and I really appreciated the attention they gave me. They brought bread to the table right away, and it was warm, tasty, and wonderfully comforting. After a long day on my feet, that little touch was especially welcome. Sometimes, it's the simple things that make you happy! I ordered two empanadas. Now, here's where my Argentinian credentials come into play. They were okay, but just okay. Let's say they didn't quite meet my expectations. When you've grown up with Argentinian empanadas, you develop certain standards, and these didn't quite hit the mark for me. But that's my personal take, and someone else might enjoy them more. I finished with a special serving of ice cream and asked for dulce de leche on the side. They happily accommodated my request, and that definitely earned them extra points! Because let's be honest, dulce de leche makes almost everything better. I also enjoyed a very cold beer, which was excellent and exactly what I needed after all that walking. Overall, I really liked the atmosphere, the attentive service, and the welcoming feel of the place. Although the empanadas weren't quite what I would hope for as an Argentinian, the restaurant was busy, lively, and clearly appreciated by its customers. Would I recommend it? Yes! Especially if you're in Ajijic looking for a comfortable place to enjoy a drink, good service, and Argentinian-style food. Just keep in mind that my standards for empanadas may be a little unfairly high. After all, some things are hard to beat when they remind you of home!

Great food, great waiter. Definitely on my list of top places to eat when in Guadalajara.read more

Once you walk in, you're warmly greeted by the staff and the ambiance. The decor was strange with quirky wallpaper and art but somehow worked. As we made our way to the bigger tables in the back, we came across an atrium like dining area with tons of plants and open air near the grill. Not only is it beautiful, but it helps to make sure you won't walk out after dinner smelling like a barbecue! Much appreciated! We were handed a couple different menus - one for drinks and one for food (neither of which were enough for each of us to have one, so we shared). I will say the menu was a bit confusing since there are so many pages, each with only a few items on it. Also, we didn't know much, if anything, about the different Argentinian steak specialities which I think contributed to our confusion. As our orders finally started to arrive we realized that these portions are MASSIVE. None of our selections notated that they came with anything, but most of our came with a salad (also huge) and mine ended up coming with some homemade potato chips. Yum! I ordered the Bifo de Lomo which is a tenderloin (think filet mignon) and it was slap your mama good! It came sizzling in butter... need I say more? It comes a little rare and you can't change the temperature (I asked for medium rare, but they said it comes the way it comes). No biggie though, I just cut the steak up as soon as I get it and laid the slices on the sizzling plate. It cooked perfectly! Since we weren't sure if any of the dishes came with sides, my husband and I split the potato puree (otherwise known as mashed potatoes). They were also really delicious! We ended up having waaaaay too much food but the experience was amazing and my meal stands as one of the best steaks I've ever had. Definitely, DEFINITELY check this spot out when you are in Guadalajara!
