This restaurant has great ambiance and even better food. The complimentary starters (bread, chimichurri, and beans) are fantastic. I had the Rib-eye (excellent) and the linguini Bolognese (delicious). Try the desserts: chocolate cake was amazing! Strawberries with cream and vanilla ice cream( IDK the name) was refreshing. I also had the sweet potato (camote) with almond crunch over vanilla ice cream, this was the winner for me!

Fresh mixed green salad.

La Matera is like an Argentinean restaurant. First of all, the wood work is amazing. Especially the ceiling. I highly recommend sitting outside. The cervezas are plentiful. The service is second to none. The assortment of breads and appetizer are truly magnificent. Surprisingly, I ordered a shrimp pasta dish, as opposed to a meat dish. Between the shrimp, Calamari, sauce, and pasta it laid on, the dish was fulfilling from start to end. I filled up on Negra Modello (beer) and bread, there was not enough room for me finish it nor enjoy any of the wonderful such as the chocolate moose. Oh well, there is next time. I will be back.

Short: food was 3.5-4 star. Service was 5+ The food was decent, but overpriced. However, the service was amazing. Our toddler spilled his juice and moments later our waiter cleared out entire table, put down a new table cloth, and reset the table. She did it cheerfully without any negative vibes. Also, more than once I said to my partner that I'd like X and seconds later our waitress was on it without me having to ask. As the same time, she didn't hover. It was a very pleasant dining experience. Unfortunately the food wasn't as good. My main plate was the spinach raviolis. The sauce was not much more than crushed tomatoes, and the raviolis were bland. My Sicilian empanada was pretty good, though it had the same sauce as the raviolis. My partner had a cappuccino after the meal and it was very good. Probably the best we've had in our two months in Mexico.

One of the best Argentinian spots in GDL. The beef is outstanding! Oyo de bite and the Asado are the go to!

La Bocha La Bocha La Bocha!…read more I was celebrating my 30th birthday in Guadalajara when I had the very fortunate experience of discovering this place. It was located around the corner from an Airbnb I was staying at and was surrounded on a fairly walkable strip by other sophisticated eats. This visit was a nice evening date where we grabbed lamb tacos, drinks, and empanadas. The lamb tasted as if it had been marinated by the gods; it was tender, melted in your mouth, and carried a flavor that I'll never forget. The empanadas were perfectly filled and made fresh to order. I highly recommend anyone visit this place for drinks, empanadas, and tacos. The ambience was sleek and comforting and the food is something I reminisce about often.

Great food, great waiter. Definitely on my list of top places to eat when in Guadalajara.read more

Our group was in need of some serious food and, upon the recommendation of one in our party, we…read moretraveled to this amazing spot and had arguably one of the best meals of our entire trip! Once you walk in, you're warmly greeted by the staff and the ambiance. The decor was strange with quirky wallpaper and art but somehow worked. As we made our way to the bigger tables in the back, we came across an atrium like dining area with tons of plants and open air near the grill. Not only is it beautiful, but it helps to make sure you won't walk out after dinner smelling like a barbecue! Much appreciated! We were handed a couple different menus - one for drinks and one for food (neither of which were enough for each of us to have one, so we shared). I will say the menu was a bit confusing since there are so many pages, each with only a few items on it. Also, we didn't know much, if anything, about the different Argentinian steak specialities which I think contributed to our confusion. As our orders finally started to arrive we realized that these portions are MASSIVE. None of our selections notated that they came with anything, but most of our came with a salad (also huge) and mine ended up coming with some homemade potato chips. Yum! I ordered the Bifo de Lomo which is a tenderloin (think filet mignon) and it was slap your mama good! It came sizzling in butter... need I say more? It comes a little rare and you can't change the temperature (I asked for medium rare, but they said it comes the way it comes). No biggie though, I just cut the steak up as soon as I get it and laid the slices on the sizzling plate. It cooked perfectly! Since we weren't sure if any of the dishes came with sides, my husband and I split the potato puree (otherwise known as mashed potatoes). They were also really delicious! We ended up having waaaaay too much food but the experience was amazing and my meal stands as one of the best steaks I've ever had. Definitely, DEFINITELY check this spot out when you are in Guadalajara!
