I was intrigued by the low prices however the final product is nothing to get excited about. The vibe here is post work/happy hour/social gathering type of place. It also seems as if the food is designed to feed a drunkard or stoner crowd. The dishes seems simple & while I can respect the fact that they didn't overdo it, I still suspect for food to be amazing & life altering. The protein in the tacos was virtually flavorless & the same goes for the provided sauces. The elotes was the highlight of the meal but even this dish was merely ok. I checked out Asadito the other night and absolutely loved the vibe. The space is super cool and casual. They have a new outdoor space, which is great for the summer and spring months. First, let's talk about the food. The individual tacos, which cost about $3.50, are DELICIOUS. You can tell the tortillas are homemade and that the kitchen put some love into these tacos. Unlike other taco joints, Asadito's tacos were pretty big and generous in the fillings. I'm a vegetarian, so I got their mushroom one. It was probably the best veggie taco I've ever had. It was hearty, slightly spicy and very flavorful -- you definitely wouldn't miss the meat. My cousins got the steak, brisket and chicken ones and they seemed to be very impressed. We also got guacamole and elotes. The guac was super fresh and the elotes were really tasty. I put a scoop of both on top of my tacos for even more flavor. We were too full to order the churros, but they looked insane. Next time! The place is called a taco & tequila bar, so we obviously had to get some drinks. The menu had an extensive list of shots and pours, but we opted for the specialty margaritas. I got the spicy strawberry basil one, which is good if you like heat. My cousin get the avocado one, which was unique and actually delicious. My also tried the house margarita and it was fantastic. As the neon sign behind the bar says, "f**k me, I'll have another." Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience here. Food comes out quick and is full of flavor. All of the drinks area on point as well. Highly recommend stopping by Asadito. These tacos were stuffed with delicious goodness and flavor. And priced pretty damn good as well! Despite the mixed bag of reviews on here, I gave Asadito a try for lunch around 12:45 p.m. on a Tuesday. It was FANTASTIC. The chicken tinga was juicy and flavorful, the special taco of the day - potato - was sweet but spicy (maybe it was yucca, but the sign said potato...) and the chips were extremely fresh. The guac either had too many onions or added jicama, a little too texture-y for me, but not a deal breaker. Great side sauces, excellent tequila and mezcal list and cheap beer. There was some miscommunication at the register when I told the cashier what I ordered - she repeated back, "Taco special?" and I said, no, "One chicken, one daily special and chips and guac." And then she said, "Ok, taco special." *SHRUG* I didn't see anything on the menu about a taco special, or lunch special, so if that exists, it should be marketed a bit better. If you want a drink, you have to order from the bar. I wasn't aware you could sit at the bar and order food AND drinks, so they could relay that, as well. I'm so happy that there is another restaurant in the area that I can walk to besides going to Randolph Street! Asadito is definitely worth a try. The al pastor taco is excellent, the mushroom taco has great flavor, and the chicken tinga is good, but needed a little salsa because it was a little dry. They have three great salsas at the table though, so you can try out what works for you and add to your tacos. The guacamole and chips are also very good. The small gauc is plenty big for 2-3 people. They also have a nice drink list and the service is good. This is an excellent low key spot with good food and drinks. read more

I really liked the patio and friendly service at Asadito. I ordered the three taco combo with 2 Al pastor tacos, one chicken tings taco and it came with beans and rice. Flavors were good, really liked the salsa and flavor of the meat. However the Al pastor was full of fat cubes that look identical to the meat and were not fun to bite into-fat is still fat even if it's coated in sauce. The chicken tinga had good flavor but was dry. I ordered a house margarita which was about the same as most Mexican restaurants. Overall pros prices, service and patio. I was pleasantly surprised by fresh corn tortilla, which I thought was a nice touch. Also, they had different hot sauce options, including habanero, in case you like it spicy. The tacos tasted good, and the ingredients fresh. Luckily, the Mexican corn came in a bowl, so I was able to enjoy it without making a mess. Overall, the food was solid. We were in Chicago for a week visiting from Out of state for work. Asadito was by far the best priced ($3-4 tacos) and the one of the tastiest places we have visited all week. I am from Austin, TX and am a taco snob so I take my tacos very seriously. From the second we entered, we were warmly welcomed, sat, and catered to at every turn.
