More like 3.5 got delivery and it was very well packaged neat and clean and provided plenty of napkins Food Pros: yummy chips and elote (note it's a dip type very creamy not like traditional), red sauce is yummy and hot, green sauce is perfectly mild and flavorful Rice and beans yummy Downside: the torta with mushroom was wayyyy too soggy and filled. Also forgot to note that I did have that odd cigarette taste like charred into the bread of the torta which someone else mentioned in a review, perhaps it's a grill or oil used that causes that...And caution it's a huge portion so good value if you get it and eat it right away maybe though I did do priority so not sure how it got soggy so quickly as I was tracking . It did not come cut. I would give it another try maybe at store or try a different entree. read more

A casual local favorite, really good burritos and very big. Love their corn and churros too. Kind of hard to find if you don't know where it is but it's located in an office building. Their staff is friendly and their margs are good. They are also on UberEats so you can either sit there or get it delivered. Definitely holds up when delivered too. read more

Fantastic new taco and drink spot right next to Ogilvie. I've been here a few times in small groups and in a bigger group of work colleagues and they've been accommodating and delicious every time. I recommend the chicken tikka taco, the elotes, the blended mezcal, and the churros. Holy crap the churros are so good. The staff and the owners are extremely friendly and make any time spent at Asadito a complete pleasure. Highly recommend. read more

I was intrigued by the low prices however the final product is nothing to get excited about. The vibe here is post work/happy hour/social gathering type of place. It also seems as if the food is designed to feed a drunkard or stoner crowd. The dishes seems simple & while I can respect the fact that they didn't overdo it, I still suspect for food to be amazing & life altering. The protein in the tacos was virtually flavorless & the same goes for the provided sauces. The elotes was the highlight of the meal but even this dish was merely ok. I think it could improve with some fresher ingredients. On a somewhat busy Thursday night there was plenty of paid street parking available & although the restaurant was somewhat crowded I still managed to get in, place my order & be out in under 10 minutes. read more

I checked out Asadito the other night and absolutely loved the vibe. The space is super cool and casual. They have a new outdoor space, which is great for the summer and spring months. First, let's talk about the food. The individual tacos, which cost about $3.50, are DELICIOUS. You can tell the tortillas are homemade and that the kitchen put some love into these tacos. Unlike other taco joints, Asadito's tacos were pretty big and generous in the fillings. I'm a vegetarian, so I got their mushroom one. It was probably the best veggie taco I've ever had. It was hearty, slightly spicy and very flavorful -- you definitely wouldn't miss the meat. My cousins got the steak, brisket and chicken ones and they seemed to be very impressed. We also got guacamole and elotes. The guac was super fresh and the elotes were really tasty. I put a scoop of both on top of my tacos for even more flavor. We were too full to order the churros, but they looked insane. Next time! The place is called a taco & tequila bar, so we obviously had to get some drinks. The menu had an extensive list of shots and pours, but we opted for the specialty margaritas. I got the spicy strawberry basil one, which is good if you like heat. My cousin get the avocado one, which was unique and actually delicious. My also tried the house margarita and it was fantastic. As the neon sign behind the bar says, "f**k me, I'll have another." Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience here. Food comes out quick and is full of flavor. All of the drinks area on point as well. Highly recommend stopping by Asadito. The prices are very reasonable, so you can order a lot without breaking the bank. read more

1. You can pick by the taco. No need to buy a 3 taco lunch plate, all the same flavor. 2. Reasonable prices. $3 to $4 per taco. 3. Good guacamole. 4. GREAT FLAVOR! OMG these tacos are good! 5. Good, friendly, attentive staff. read more

We ordered Asadito on DoorDash and it was such a pleasant surprise. I was a bit worried that the items would be soggy, but everything was fresh and felt like table side quality. I went for a chicken tinga and a carnitas taco and they were both flavorful and delicious. The guac and salsa were perfect to share and the chips were homemade and great too. Would definitely recommend for takeout! read more

I had read reviews and the menu, which had no steak tacos, only barbacoa, which is totally different from steak, so I wasn't sure I would try this place. However, they now have regular steak tacos! The steak is cooked on a rotating spit like gyros meat, it wasn't grilled or cooked on a flat-top like regular Mexican restaurants, but it was pretty good, there was a lot of meat in it, and they did use two tortillas (I had read reviews that said they were only using one tortilla at first). HOWEVER..... I was NOT HAPPY that they refuse to do any type of modifications on my taco. All tacos come with different toppings (for the foodies I guess), and you MUST get on the taco what is listed on the menu. I think that is absolutely RIDICULOUS. I said to the girl behind the payment counter that it's not YOUR fault, but I am really not happy that I can't get what I want on my taco. She replied, well, we're downtown. REALLY?!? I work across the street, downtown, and I don't know of ANY other restaurant around here who will not let you modify your food, even at busy lunch rush times. It's MY food. I should be able to order it the way that I want it, not the way THEY want it. I am picky and I do not like most of their toppings - I'm not a foodie so forgive me if I don't like freaking pineapple on my taco. I'm not sure if I will go back and pay $4 plus tax for a taco on which I cannot get basic, Not-Foodie-Person toppings, such as lettuce and raw onion (the steak tacos have grilled onions - they are too sweet. I like the spiciness of raw onion on steak - again, it should be MY CHOICE). If they insist on making it a trendy place only for people with more advanced tastes than mine, I guess they will miss out on my business. And I eat a lot of tacos. read more

Would never recommend this restaurant. tamale was 95% masa and 5% filling. Wayy too salty and not flavorful birria taco and birria torta did not include the consumme to dip the taco and torta into. the taco was insanely dry with zero sauce, and the meat was very dry and too salty. the torta was extra salty and not flavorful on any levels. churros were not great and every bite was just biting into a ton of oil in my mouth With Covid being a tough time for a ton of small businesses, I don't like to trash on businesses, but this food was just not enjoyable by any means and I was lied to by not receiving a birria entree. I would not have ordered from this place in general if they didn't have birria. none of my food was hot either, which makes no sense since I got it in 30 minutes from ordering and i'm less than 1 mile from the restaurant. read more

As a native Texan from the State of TexMex, and as someone who's traveled all over the country eating way more tacos than I'd ever admit to my cardiologist, I can honestly say this place is the real deal. These tacos were stuffed with delicious goodness and flavor. And priced pretty damn good as well! (the same tacos would be double the price in Miami, and not nearly as good) I had the al Pastor and the Barbacoa, both stuffed with juicy meat. I only wish they offered a flour tortilla option, but then again the mix they use for the corn tortilla was better than your traditional store-bought corn tortilla. Still a damn good taco. The corn elote was pretty tasty as well! read more

This spot is so good!!! The tacos are amazing, drinks are great and Rodney is the best server in the area! The food is always fresh and tasty. Very local spot we went on a Thursday evening and sat outside. Was a bit thrown off by the inside which is more of just order and pick up but wow. Margarita was great chips and guac/salsa the guacamole was very good and the salsa had a great spice to it. Also they were huge servings. The 3 taco combo for $15 is unreal, any 3 tacos, choice of chips/salsa or rice and beans and a drink (Mexican coke, jarritos, normal coke products). The Al pastor was amazing with whatever they marinade it with. First time have birria and it did not disappoint. On top of that our server Rodney was one of the best we've had in the city. Overall experience was wonderful, great service, large portions, affordable prices. Will be back. read more

Just awful...where to start. I walked in and attempted to order from a gentleman working under a "order here" sign. I said "hello, how are you?". His response "what do you want". Okay, rough start. He got my order wrong the first time and had to re-explain it three more times. I asked him if I offended him in some way because of his tone toward me. A short conversation with the manager would fix everything right? Wrong! The order still came out incomplete after ordering 4 times! The food: meh. The shrimp tacos are salty, salty, salty (others have noted this as well). I ate one and refused to muscle down the second. The elote was decent, chips and salsa was horrible for $8 dollars. Tacos are served on cold, wet tortillas. Overall, not going back. Terrible customer service aside, the food was inedible. Edit: response to manager who "happened to be behind the bar". Your employee responded to me with "what do you want" NOT "what can I get for you". Absolutely two different kind of responses. Moreover, I never called him a jerk (or the other manager) . I said " don't treat me like a jerk". If you were so close and I was so rude, why didn't you approach me? Perhaps because everything I'm saying is true. You attempting to reframe what happened is just laughable. You have 5 reviews so far, 3 of them are not so good. I suppose this is what happens when the food is inedible and customer service is awful. Finally, I paid for the chips and salsa. You comped an additional salsa because you got my order wrong! Calling me a liar, nice touch. Your food is tasteless and overpriced Your customer service is horrible Looking forward to your closing in 6 months read more

This place is on the ground floor of my office building so I went more out of convenience than anything else but I was pleasantly surprised! Had the El Poll Maximo and it was HUGE. It was also super tasty. A little spicy (nothing crazy), salty, good comfort food! The fried chicken inside was super well done too! I was expecting like fried chicken strips but it's a decently sized piece of friend chicken. Would go back again! read more

Despite the mixed bag of reviews on here, I gave Asadito a try for lunch around 12:45 p.m. on a Tuesday. It was FANTASTIC. The chicken tinga was juicy and flavorful, the special taco of the day - potato - was sweet but spicy (maybe it was yucca, but the sign said potato...) and the chips were extremely fresh. The guac either had too many onions or added jicama, a little too texture-y for me, but not a deal breaker. Great side sauces, excellent tequila and mezcal list and cheap beer. There was some miscommunication at the register when I told the cashier what I ordered - she repeated back, "Taco special?" and I said, no, "One chicken, one daily special and chips and guac." And then she said, "Ok, taco special." *SHRUG* I didn't see anything on the menu about a taco special, or lunch special, so if that exists, it should be marketed a bit better. If you want a drink, you have to order from the bar. I wasn't aware you could sit at the bar and order food AND drinks, so they could relay that, as well. I definitely want to try the elotes so I'll be back soon. read more

Average to slightly above average food quality. Staff is good. Quick service. I've been there 4 or 5 times.

I'm so happy that there is another restaurant in the area that I can walk to besides going to Randolph Street! Asadito is definitely worth a try. The al pastor taco is excellent, the mushroom taco has great flavor, and the chicken tinga is good, but needed a little salsa because it was a little dry. They have three great salsas at the table though, so you can try out what works for you and add to your tacos. The guacamole and chips are also very good. The small gauc is plenty big for 2-3 people. They also have a nice drink list and the service is good. This is an excellent low key spot with good food and drinks. read more

Pinto beans are the staple of refried beans not black beans. Your "refried" ninja bullet black beans were seasoned decently, and the barbacoa tacos we're seasoned nicely for someone who doesn't have high blood pressure. I'm glad the steak tacos weren't tough. The pico recipe is nice. For future reference, it's tacky to allow customers to bring drinks, let them drink them, order food, then say drinks aren't allowed. I understand you need the business during covid, but have some common courtesy to inform customers of the rules outside in advance, prior to ordering & paying then coming to tell us it's not allowed. Tackasito I mean Asadito had good pico. Also a waiter with Jim Carrey vibes. read more

I really liked the patio and friendly service at Asadito. I ordered the three taco combo with 2 Al pastor tacos, one chicken tings taco and it came with beans and rice. Flavors were good, really liked the salsa and flavor of the meat. However the Al pastor was full of fat cubes that look identical to the meat and were not fun to bite into-fat is still fat even if it's coated in sauce. The chicken tinga had good flavor but was dry. I ordered a house margarita which was about the same as most Mexican restaurants. Overall pros prices, service and patio. The kitchen would really benefit from taking more care with the meat especially if you are known for it. read more

Worst restaurant experience ever! Went there for my first time yesterday and went to sit down to hear... I found Asadito Taco by sheer chance while going to the bathroom. I was initially planning on going to Slightly Toasted (evidently, both owned by the same owner) but decided to give this place a try. My first reaction was positive, as the atmosphere gave a simple yet very modern look. I decided to order a chicken tinga, cilantro shrimp taco with Mexican street corn. I was pleasantly surprised by fresh corn tortilla, which I thought was a nice touch. Also, they had different hot sauce options, including habanero, in case you like it spicy. The tacos tasted good, and the ingredients fresh. Luckily, the Mexican corn came in a bowl, so I was able to enjoy it without making a mess. Overall, the food was solid. The reason why I didn't give it a higher star is that I thought the service could be improved. While the service was not bad, it was nothing to praise or above the norm. Perhaps, I'll revisit and update my review. read more

We were in Chicago for a week visiting from Out of state for work. Asadito was by far the best priced ($3-4 tacos) and the one of the tastiest places we have visited all week. I am from Austin, TX and am a taco snob so I take my tacos very seriously. From the second we entered, we were warmly welcomed, sat, and catered to at every turn. The guac is amazing and better than most Mexican food places I have been to. House margs are fire and happy hour is fantastic. I had a Barbacoa and roasted pepper and mushroom taco, which was to die for. Rodney, our server, was fantastic. He was extremely attentive, checking on our drinks and picking up used items. He had an amazing upbeat funky positive attitude and great energy. Rodney is a live example that customer service isn't dead.
