From the quotes developed to outline what services we'd be receiving, to the work being performed, leading up to a final walk through, we were not only guided expertly, but saw the results greatly exceed our expectations. We were especially grateful for the assistance in considering colors for each room, and the recommendations on where we needed to make some repairs that were not immediately obvious to us, as we had just moved into the house. One seldom spends much time focusing on their ceilings, but when pointed out cracks and other imperfections, it underscores the extreme value in having someone experienced guiding you in this process. To say that the whole team were perfectionists is not an understatement, because the attention to detail, from the planning leading up to the job, to covering and protecting surfaces and furniture, to the execution of the work, all care was taken to produce the amazing results we now have. In addition to the painting of our entire home, X-Clusive remodeled an entertainment room, removing carpeting, installing new flooring, repairing walls and ceiling and making it a wonderful space that before had bordered on a storage room. To say that Andres and his team went above and beyond is not an understatement. We had some minor things that needed to be addressed as work was progressing (e.g. replacing a light switch with a dimmer switch) and some hauling of unwanted furniture. Without hesitation these requests were met with a smile and a can-do response. I wish that I had before pictures for you to compare the beautiful work that they did, but sadly we didn't think of that. We needed to tear out and replace all prior tiles due to leak, and wet uninsulated walls around tub. Mr. Buendia and his team planned out the job, gave us a reasonable estimate, told us from when to when the job was going to be done, emailed us job proposal, we agreed and signed contract, and the the job started. They covered floors and stairs to prevent any damage, while we made sure they had access to an empty bathroom. In the middle of job we discovered that we needed to reinstall 'all walls, which we did not know when we started. Mr. Buendia and I went to the Tile store on Eisenhower Ave., and we chose together a tile that would fit and look great, and align with remaining ceramic floor. They did the work right, even when it meant it would take them longer, and provided advice as to how to make small improvements to increase the value of our house without spending alot of money. I haven't had the best luck finding honesty in the home improvement sector. These guys understand quality and affordability, and I highly recommend them. EDIT: I wrote a more detailed review here 11 days ago, but I got a Cease and Desist letter from a…read morelawyer representing Gust, so I took down the details they contested in the letter because I've decided I don't want to waste the time, energy and money, nor experience what I feel would be emotionally damaging to relive with this company in court. I hired Gust to install hardwood flooring in one of my rental units, which began falling apart immediately, without anyone ever occupying the unit (i.e., no furniture, just people walking through once in a while to estimate other work). I was told by Gust that it didn't need glue because it was a floating floor. However, the manufacturer's instructions were that it needed to be glued at the tongue and groove (which I verified after the install). Because that mistake was egregious, and because of how I felt about my interactions with them since planning the project in August until they installed the floor in January, I decided they didn't seem competent enough to come back and fix the floor. So at the point that I discovered that the floor had been installed incorrectly, I requested that they provide references that would prove successful work of this kind or that they subcontract to someone with references (though I recognize I obviously should've done that before I hired them). They ignored that request, instead asking that I meet with them at the unit to discuss how to fix the floor. In my opinion, that was unnecessary, since they had already admitted (in writing) to assuming incorrectly that the installation didn't require any glue even though the vendor's instructions were clear that it did require glue. They also suggested using a tape-like product in lieu of adhesive, but I contacted the vendor, who said that was inappropriate, so I decided not to allow them to do it. Instead of arguing this further with them and/or giving them a chance to redo the work (or possibly screw it up even worse), I chose to pay someone else to completely undo and redo the work they did. I've been investing in real estate for years and have dealt with many contractors. In my opinion, Gust Renovations was unprofessional and incompetent and I exhort you to find another contractor AND to ask for and thoroughly investigate references for any contractor you engage with.
