I really enjoyed that she gave us lessons on mixing colors, and did her own painting so we were able to copy what she was doing. But she also gave us space to focus on our projects. Lovely day at the Taft Street Winery in this fun paint and sip class. There were maybe a dozen of us there for the three hour outdoor class with our lovely teacher. She taught us color theory and how to map our canvas, just right for us beginners who had never painted roses before (or much else for that matter). The class included four wines and a perfectly sized charcuterie cup (also had non-alcoholic options) along with our painting experience. Included full access to the winery's outdoor picnic area with cornhole and bocce ball. We were under the shade the entire time. We had a fun time and enjoyed the experience. read more

I cannot begin to express how delightful our first "Sip + Paint" event was! It was my husband and I very first time attending, and it exceeded our expectations. Alana and her team are extremely attentive to their guests. They greeted us with a smile, and made us feel so comfortable. Alana's creativity, and attention to detail shines right though her. She is truly a talented lady! We had so much fun, and felt very comfortable. Our paintings came out beautiful thanks to Alana's tips. I attended a sip and paint with Alana at Flying Cloud and it was amazing! When my friends and I walked up, we were instantly greeted and welcomed by Alana. She has such great energy and is very passionate! I was instantly impressed by Alana's painting skills! She was available to answer questions, give artistic advice, and chat with the guests! I would highly recommend Alana's sip and paint events! Not only did we have the chance to paint fun bee pictures, we also received a delicious box of cheese, crackers, fruits, lemon bars, and more! it truly befuddles me seeing so many positive reviews towards such an un professional business. i could hardly get Anybody on the phone, then when I finally did I had to deal with the attitude of whom ever answered. I decided to just ignore the attitude because I heard such wonderful things about this business, so I just assumed it was the individual and not the business as a whole. But I was sadly mistaken. We came to an agreement on prices over the phone, and the day of my event their all of sudden trying to charge me more than we initially agreed upon. i could not deal with their service, i decided to end communication and just let it go. Alana made our Artxcursion "sip & paint" into such a fun and relaxing afternoon! From the charcuterie box and wine, to her warm and patient manner of teaching, and her friendly mom as her assistant, everything was perfect! I personally find painting very relaxing, and add in the enthusiasm from Alana and her mom, well I couldn't have asked for a better day! read more

We had an absolutely wonderful time with Artxcursion for my friend's bachelorette! They came to our hotel and set everything up outside with cute signs, paint setups, and snacks. They also helped take cute pictures for us to help celebrate. Alana was patient, fun, and struck a great balance between letting people be creative and do what they wanted, while providing helpful guidance and steps. She's a wonderful painter and teacher. She was supportive, cheerful, and helpful. As a group we were able to chat with each other, and could also work on something with a fun end product. It's such a nice alternative to typical bachelorette party games. We had a great time and highly recommend Alana! read more

I wish I could have given more stars to this event, because I was so looking forward to painting with, and learning from Alana but I just can't. There are pros and cons, regarding this event and it depends on what you actually want to get out of their version of "paint and sip" to decide if it's right for you. Pros: We had our class at the Taft Winery in Sebastopol and it is lovely. What a really cool winery, it's absolutely worth visiting. The owner is not only incredibly personable but knowledgeable. The rose was delicious. Alana and her family are all welcoming and just really nice people. Alana is a fine painter, and incredibly talented. You could feel the love as she introduced us to her mom and twin sister. If you want a nice time and place to be for a few hours drinking a flight of delicious wine and not really there to paint then this IS the event for you, absolutely. If you want to learn how to paint in a new way, and come home with a complete painting, it is not. Cons: One of my problems was that the event was advertised to go to 2:30 and my friend and I were asked to leave at 2:00 Everyone else had left by 1:30 by their own volition. Perhaps is was the heat, I don't know. But since we were still working on our paintings I think they should have honored their word and let us stay until the designated time. I got the feeling that some people were really there for the wine and mini pancakes, but we were there for the art, and art tutorial. If you want to compare this to a Yaymaker event, or Paint and Sip type class this is not for you. The paint was prepared so early, and on mini baking sheets so the paint literally baked onto the sheet of metal. This made the paint unusable except for what you could get out from under the 'skin' on top. When asked for more paint, we got push back. "We're trying to conserve paint." Yikes. For $75 sign up and given unusable paint, that kind of sucked. The other problem was that there was a 15 minute paint mixing tutorial but not how to actually create the painting. We received the beginning of the painting (flowers in vase), ie the basics for the flowers but no further teaching on the vase or greenery, or even Alana's cutting in technique for her abstract look of the roses. The answer was "look at the vase" when asked how to finish the painting and get the right look of the vase but I feel that I was not there not to observe the vase, but learn how to paint it (including the water inside, which is what I was actually looking forward to the most). In person is so much more valuable than you tube videos. Alana is one of a kind. Watching her is inspirational, I just wish she had taught us more technique, as an artist because that is what I personally signed up to receive. Therefore, it could have been better, and 2 stars. I also suggest some type of video or screen situation where the class can see and watch Alana paint and paint along. Sidenote: I didn't eat them (because food allergy, quality looked great), but I heard from everyone who could that the mini pancakes were outstanding. If you get them, go first thing because they were packed up and gone within the first hour and a half of the event. read more

I went to an ArtXcursion paint night with a friend and we had a blast! Neither of us would consider ourselves artistic, but Alana started with a tutorial herself and gave us so many tips and tricks. Our paintings came out pretty good! Plus there were yummy bites to eat and wine to sip on. I will definitely be attending another event! read more

I had the pleasure to attend Alana's event pre-covid. It was a blast and I can't wait to attend another one. It was such a great atmosphere. There was wine, cider and appetizers!! Alana is very skilled and informative. Not only that, she has a great sense of humor and is easy going. Everyone was full of smiles and having a great time together.
