This event center was an easy 5/5 Star review. We attended a good friend's birthday party here and it was BEAUTIFUL! Place is elegant, bright, and very spacious. The event was held with lots of dedication and care. The crew members working the night of the event were all very friendly and helpful. Decor and lighting added an additional wow to everything. Would highly recommend this location to anyone looking to host any event. My sister is already thinking about having her Wedding here... Beautiful. read more

We recently held my daughter's quinceañera at Ellington Hall, and I can honestly say it was worth every single penny. First of all, renting this hall in the winter was absolutely the right decision. The space is beautiful, spacious, and perfectly maintained, and our guests were comfortable the entire time. The event ran from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and everything flowed seamlessly from start to finish. One of the best decisions we made was paying for the kids' room. It was completely worth it. The kids absolutely loved having their own space and, honestly, they barely left it the entire night! It allowed them to have fun in their own way while the adults enjoyed the celebration. I would highly recommend adding this option. We also chose to pay for the extra services, including serving and busing, and I am so glad we did. The staff was attentive, professional, and incredibly efficient. There were a few small things that happened during the event -- like a plate of food that was accidentally spilled on the floor -- and it was cleaned up so quickly that we didn't even realize it had happened until after the event. That level of attention to detail made such a difference. David does an amazing job managing everything. He handled the timeline so smoothly that I was truly able to be present and enjoy my daughter's special day instead of worrying about logistics. That alone was priceless. His crew even helped us pack up all the linens we brought at the end of the night, which saved us so much time and energy. Another highlight was the covered outdoor space, which gave guests even more room to gather and enjoy the evening. The lighting inside the hall was stunning -- they were able to match the wall lighting perfectly to our color theme, which made everything look cohesive and beautiful. Every single person commented on how amazing the event was and how much they loved the venue. It truly was an unforgettable night, and Ellington Hall played a huge role in that. I would absolutely recommend this venue to anyone planning a special event. It was organized, beautiful, well-managed, and completely worth the investment. read more

My (now) wife and I cannot say enough incredible things about David and all of the staff at Ellington Hall. Everything about the process of working with David and Ellington was amazing and made thing so stress free and easy for our wedding. They will be in our hearts forever. You would do yourself a service by picking this place. It starts with the first meeting and continues all the way until you say goodbye after your final walkthrough after your event is over. I was so stressed before our first meeting with David. By the end of the meeting, I wanted to give him a hug. He makes the process so easy and seamless. He gave our parents the same full show that he gave us and made them feel super comfortable and relaxed as well. Whenever we had any questions, he got back to us super quickly and would offer to meet with us in person if it sounded like it would be better. He met with our caterers to help design the smoothest plan. Every suggestion that he had was presented as simply that, a suggestion, but let me tell you. They were all spot on and made things easier or more smooth. David also takes all your hopes and ideas into account and sees how to make them a reality. Our rehearsal for our wedding went super smoothly and everyone commented on how amazing the venue and staff are. As amazing as all of that was, the wedding day was even more perfect. Everything ran so smoothly that we were 20 minutes ahead of schedule at every turn. Everyone had such an incredible time, including the vendors. David and his staff handled everything so perfectly that no one had to worry about doing anything but having an absolute blast! Everyone has told us our wedding was one that they will never ever forget. We told David if he needed a testimonial or anything that my wife and I would scream whatever we could from whatever mountain top we needed. We are indebted to your staff and you David. We can legitimately say we love you and Ellington Hall. read more

We hosted our daughter's Winter ONEderland at this hall, and it was absolutely perfect for the occasion! The space was clean, spacious, and beautifully set up, which made decorating so easy. Our guests had plenty of room to mingle, eat, and celebrate comfortably. David and the staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating throughout the whole process--from booking to the day of the event. David made sure everything ran smoothly so we could actually relax and enjoy our daughter's special day with family and friends. It truly felt like the perfect place to celebrate such an important milestone. We made wonderful memories here, and we're so grateful for the great experience. I had my Halloween wedding here! Working with Ellington Events at Ellington Hall was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. David and his team were incredibly prompt, thorough, and accommodating throughout the entire planning process. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and truly went above and beyond to ensure our wedding day was everything we dreamed of. The team at Ellington Events provided inclusive service, taking care of every single detail so we didn't have to worry about a thing. David was incredible at outlining and planning with every detail included, and the staff executed the plan beautifully. I could get on the phone with David anytime to iron out details, ask questions, or communicate my vision, and he was always there to help. I brought all of my decor and wedding items, and the staff placed and incorporated them into the ceremony and reception perfectly. Our loved ones had the most incredible time, and I'm still getting compliments on how fun and beautiful our wedding was. I couldn't recommend Ellington Events highly enough! P.S. Get the photo booth package! If you have kids, the kid's room package is also 110% worth it. SO incredible. read more

This venue is incredible and the staff goes above and beyond to make your event unforgettable. David is one of the most organized, creative, and flexible party planners I have ever worked with. Creating a budget with him made the planning process must easier and prevented any surprises down the road. Additionally, after our event, we were immediately refunded a portion of our money (as we ended up overpaying for services we decided not to use). If you want your event to run smoothly for a fair price in a convenient location, check out Ellington Hall. David and staff, thank you for helping to make our New Years Eve celebration so successful and fun! Ellington Hall - NYE Rave! - Venues & Event Spaces Near Me - Santa Rosa, California

Our experience recently for our daughter's wedding was the best we could have imagined. David dealt with three minor items within minutes of hearing about them ... 1. our video didn't play when first passed to him (he called his techie to come by and convert it, which was completed within about 15 minutes); 2. the coffee creamer we expected was not there (he sent someone for it and had it there, again within minutes); and 3. the gift cards went missing at the end of the evening (David spent hours combing through his security footage and determined where they had gone ... the groom grabbed them so they could be read during the honeymoon). I've gotta say this is at least the third time we've been at events there (twice hosted by other friends) and we've always come away amazed that David and his crew are so good, efficient, thorough and overall great to work with. Our kids used to go to the dance times there on Fridays before the shutdowns that ruined so many things, and we always knew our kids were in a safe place. I just can't say enough about this venue and those that run it. Now more of our friends are planning to use the venue as a result. Very impressive! On another note: Those that have given bad reviews should have read their contracts and listened carefully when they were in their initial interviews as the specifics of the agreement were no doubt very clear. I've been a building contractor for more than 40 years and habitually read what I sign. Everyone should do this, at least when you get home. California has a 3-day recission clause for contracts. All you have to do is contact the other party and back out within 3 business days. The 'pandemic' was a very unfortunate occurrence, indeed, that daily we find was essentially not an accident and should have been handled entirely differently. I appreciate that a Quinceanera needs to occur at or near the young lady's 15th birthday so that makes it especially unfortunate that David's hands were tied by the powers-that-be. And, his contract is pretty clear about rescheduling and such. And further: Sonoma County and the state of California be damned! ... we held dances for our kids and their friends during the entire 'pandemic' and not a single person got the virus from the gatherings. Plus, our kids and their friends got to enjoy normal young peoples' activities. Many of the young folks came to thank us for providing a safe place for them during the shut-downs. All we did was to treat them as individuals that we care about. Many are now, or getting, married soon. None that we know has had any mental health issues caused by the trauma of the past 3+ years. God help those that have committed this atrocity against us all. And, three plus years later it still lingers. I applaud David for being able to get clear of the mess and financial burden he's had to endure. But I also know he's come out of it in a better place, and you will benefit from this - guaranteed! read more

We've recently started to look for a venue since we decided to look into doing the event again and the place we booked did an amazing job in letting us know everything we needed to know before moving forward. We've also been planning our event and again, every single person has been clear with everything. I still think it was very much wrong of you to not let us know that the $500 we had given were agreeing to everything on the email. Which i didnt find out after i reading it at home. 100% NOT RECOMMENDED. poor service! read more

This place is awesome. I am going to review the swing dancing on Friday nights, the Lindy Hop on Tuesday nights, and the hall as a wedding venue. There is also a Westcoast swing night, a salsa night, and a hiphop night, but I haven't personally been to those. 1) Friday night drop in lesson and swing dance party: David and Cyrkl taught me to dance when I was 8. They are fantastic teachers and have created a wonderful swing scene. Most dancers here prefer lindy and jitterbug, but there are some of us who know a little west coast and other variatons of swing as well. It is a very friendly and welcoming crowd with a mix of young and old beginner and advanced dancers. The DJs are all great and they do take requests towards the latter half of the night. The floor itself is fairly new and the venue is very clean, bathrooms included! They sell water and other drinks if you didn't bring your own water bottle. 2) Tuesday nights lindyhop: This isn't as much of a dance party as Friday, but the classes are great! They start on the first Tuesday of the month. There is a beginning and intermediate class and then a practice session afterwards. 3) Wedding Reception and Event Venue Rental: I have been to many weddings and other events here and they have all been great! It is a large room with outdoor patio. The parking lot and outside of the building are standard commercial, but you have to see the inside before you make a choice. As it is, is quite pretty and suitable, but with a few touches of decorations it is quite elegant. Their team is also very organized and professional. Tips: 1) Bring a water bottle for dancing since there is no fountain. 2) Ladies have a guy walk you to your car at night. (nothing has ever happened to my knowledge, but better safe than sorry) 3) If you forget something, call right away. They get a lot of stuff so they purge their lost and found regularly. 4) Ask people to dance and have fun! read more

My husband and I had our wedding here May 26th 2018. It was amazing. David really did make my dream come true with his venue. He has a very organized process and clear communication which made life easy for me; since I was planning my wedding while in college, work and also a mother to a toddler. I don't think I could have made a better choice. Plus his prices are the best in town. The best part was the kids play room they set up for us. My family lives out of town so many had to bring their children, so my family loved the kids room. It was like having a babysitter right on sight so the adults could enjoy the night. I could go on and on about how amazing the night was for my husband and I. We are forever grateful! read more

David and staff at Ellington Hall were a pleasure to work with. David is highly detail oriented and did a wonderful job accounting for every little thing that was necessary to make our wedding reception successful. Since we had a tight budget, David was also very helpful in letting us know the items we could save money on and do ourselves (i.e. bring our own disposable tableware, do our own clean-up and break down at the end of the night, etc.). We also had concerns about holding an event during Covid and David was more than willing to help us with these concerns. From checking guests' vaccination cards to the suggestion of setting up a test-to-enter table outdoors to ensuring he and all of his staff were vaccinated and wearing masks the day of the event. He went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and safe. The venue is beautiful and we loved the special effects (fake snow, smoke, various colored lights). Everything went off without a hitch and we couldn't be more grateful for David and his staff's kindness, hard work and dedication. After going through this process with David, we now consider David a friend. If you are thinking about holding an event at Ellington Hall, don't hesitate, you won't be disappointed. -Ryan and Karissa read more

I've been dancing at this place since before it was Ellington Hall. There are several facets to the business- during the week, it serves primarily as a meeting place and a dance hall. On weekends, it is more of a reception hall for weddings and other events. Each of the dance teachers that teach here run their own classes- meaning that it's not a "dance school", but a hall with multiple classes and programs. That being said, I highly recommend calling the teacher of any class before you show up, just to confirm that the class schedule has not changed. My wife and I teach classes on here on Tuesday nights (team teach with another couple), as well as the occasional private lesson. We love the space- climate controlled (AC and heat in all rooms, and fans in the main room), nice floors- fairly fast but not dangerously so, and good sound systems. Friday Night Swing at Ellington Hall is our main dancing night- we are there almost every week (if I'm not working). Occasionally my wife or I will DJ the night, or part of it. The atmosphere is fun, energetic, and family-friendly. There is a good mix of ages, with a fairly heavy weighting to the high school and late teen/early 20's crowd. Swing dancing makes people look young (when their doing it), and so sometimes it's hard to spot the 40, 50, and even 60-somethings that regularly attend. Anyone younger than 16 must have an adult with them... often, there are entire families that come out dancing together, which is pretty cool.... There is a drop in "Jitterbug" lesson each week from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM, and DJ'd (mostly) swing music til about 11:30. The lesson is excellent- starts with the basics, and works through a half-dozen moves. The focus is on good fundamentals, and the material is presented in a way that a more experienced dancer should be able to glean technique tips and guidance, even if the material is fairly basic. Often on Fridays there are special interest rooms that are open and included in the admission.... sometimes West Coast Swing, sometimes blues dancing..... The music in the main room is a mixture, and usually quite varied. It is not strictly "classic" swing, or even strictly swing music. It spans styles and genres, as well as tempos, generally keeping the dance floor full. While there aren't a ton of "advanced" dancers, the crowd is generally very friendly, and possess a variety of skill levels. For me, this is a very comfortable place to be, and to dance. I enjoy variety in my music, and, while I do sometimes travel to get my "dancing fix", I'm happy to call this my dancing home. read more

Friday night swing dance is always a good time! The teachers are wonderful and the party is happening. The weddings here are beautiful as well. Four stars because the parking lot is less than elegant, but the inside makes up for it. And you can't beat the price! read more

I recently hit my 5 year "anniversary" as a regular at Ellington Hall on Friday nights at their swing dance party. So if you come on any particular week you can probably dance with me. I credit the owners David and Cirkl with huge amount of the credit for teaching me to dance and consistently recommend to people who want to learn swing dancing that their Friday night drop-in lesson (when attended regularly) is the best way to learn a basis in swing dancing in the North Bay. I've also attended their various Tuesday swing and swing-related lessons for a few years and loved those, as well as a couple months of Argentine Tango which I wish my schedule allowed me to take more of (Gustavo and Jessica are really world class tango teachers). I've been to one wedding at the hall and it was beautiful and a lot of fun. read more

Really have had a blast taking swing dancing lessons here in the past. Will take it up again after the ankle heals up. For a small $25 feel you can enjoy fun instructors who make sure you learn, have some laughs and just have fun no matter what your dancing skills are. The class usually starts out with simple step by step moves, thru switching partners and then practicing with your partner, you really pick up quite a bit every class. Totally fun to take part in their live bands every second Friday of the month. Clean & classy this dance hall does it right. It's available to rent for special events I hear as well. read more

My husband and I had our wedding ceremony and reception here in Jan. 2017 and they did such an amazing job! We were on a budget and Ellington Hall's flexibility and reasonable pricing allowed us to have everything we wanted without spending a fortune for 120 people. David (owner and day-of-coordinator) is incredibly organized and transparent with pricing. He also runs the wedding expo so he knows many of the vendors in the area and can recommend them based on what you want. He and his staff made it easy to relax through the whole thing and let them run the show. The hall itself has an outdoor patio with lovely string lighting and heat lamps. Inside they just got new dark wood floors--perfect for dancing and looks beautiful. Otherwise it is pretty much a canvas for you to work in your vision. The BEST part was the lighting and sound system--this place is a dance hall so they can THROW A PARTY! Other reasons you should have your wedding here (especially if you don't want spend a fortune!): 1. BYOB: pick exactly what types of alcohol you want and how much without overhead--we saved at least $5k from this. They can provide bartenders for a reasonable rate. 2. Food drop-ff: we saved a ton of money on having our caterer drop off the food, while Ellington Hall took care of the service for a much lower rate. 3. Did I mention they can put on a show? I had a vision of what music would be played at exactly the right time and special lighting effects during both the ceremony and reception and they executed it flawlessly! 4. Other flexibility: go as late as you want! They even check in with you at the end of the night to see if you want the party to keep going (for a fee) or call it a night. Few if any regulations on types of decor--they'll let you do pretty much anything. 5. Budget: I got everything I wanted for under $24k for 120 people. You could easily have a wedding for 100 people for under $20k, even $15k depending on what's important to you. Overall, Ellington Hall gives you the flexibility and value that is otherwise impossible to find in wine country. read more

I've been coming here for several weeks for the Friday night swing lessons and open dancing afterwards. The venue itself inside is quite nice with a pretty enclosed patio perfect for cooling off in. There's usually a good turn out for the class with a nice mix of ages and rotating partners is good practice in the class portion of the evening. The teachers are fun and do a good job teaching. One recommendation might be to have a drinking fountain or water cooler available although there is water for purchase available. read more

I got married over 5 years ago. We rented out Ellington Hall for a party the day after our wedding. It was the biggest waste of money. David and Cirkl totally ruined our day. I am still upset about it 5 years later. I called both David and Circkl the night of while at the hall and I NEVER got a call back. My husband and I had met with both of them while planning out the day we wanted. The day was NOTHING that we had wanted. We had wanted a cocktail hour, we paid for a cocktail hour which never happened, the staff they had working for them served dinner at 4pm, none of the songs we requested to be played were and the staff was totally rude! The intermediate Lindy lessons are really good (some of my favorite classes were here) but the beginning Lindy lessons leave something to be desired, and the dance party crowd on Fridays has a LOT of preteens and teens. I've been going to Ellington hall for about 6 months now, and it's become one of my favourite places. I started off just going to the swing lesson and dance on Friday nights and having a blast, and then decided I wanted to learn more about dancing and started going to the Tuesday night lindy lessons. They've been great too. The thing that I most love about Ellington Hall is that the focus isn't on being a perfect dancer, though there are plenty of people there that appear to be, but on having fun and trying new things. It's easy to pay lip service to this notion, but it is very hard to actually do. Ellington Hall has succeeded in institutionalizing fun:) read more

I'm an old-school Ellington Hall dancer, and I owe David and Cirkl my life for teaching me how to swing dance back in 2002! Heading to Ellington is a perfect place to spend your Friday nights in Santa Rosa, and they have done a beautiful job updating the place over the years. It's a great environment-- clean, friendly, welcoming-- and everyone enjoys themselves without any alcohol. Yes, there can be a lot of high school students at times, but for the most part there is a broad range from ages 15-70. Lindy is fun and athletic from the moment you being learning how to do it, and it only gets better the better you get. People think I've been dancing lindy for many more years than I actually have.
