Item was not cleaned well at all, in addition it was returned with new dirty spots that were not there when we took it in. Dirt that was there prior, was not removed. Art's refused to even try to take care of the new spots, they simply said they can't do anything about that. Guess what we cleaned those new spots with wipe & go in few minutes at home. Old dirt was not removed, they charged full price and did nothing. read more

I have had both cleaning and alterations done here and almost all went very well. Frankly, I haven't returned because of a shrunken wool sweater incident a few years ago. It was a very good quality sweater but somehow they didn't seem to believe me that shrinking had occurred as a result of their cleaning! They insisted I try it on to prove it (couldn't get arms in sleeves.) But they did offer reimbursement and I was totally honest that I'd gotten it on sale. I really never write reviews, however after my experience i feel compelled to! I had three expensive pair of bluejeans that needed to be shortened. I took them along with shoes to be measured and shortened, when I got them back, one were too long.Took them back(along with my shoes again), this time the tailor/seamstress just measured them against the other pair, and said "yes they need to be shortened an inch more"! When I picked them up this time they were TOO short!!! Went back, she told me she was eating lunch, would I bring them back the next day ... I did! I tried them on with my shoes, she said there was no room to make them longer! Her solution was that I should wear me pants down lower at my waist!!! I told her " I'm NOT a teenager, and this was how I wore my pants"!!! I told her I had paid a lot of money for the jeans, and $15.00 for her to shorten them, and I wouldn't be back there!!! No response, and she wouldn't even look at me!!! I will NEVER go there again, and would encourage anyone that I can NOT to as well!!! These ladies - as we used to say in Slingo - SMA. Being tight on cash, I may have put off buying my bridesmaid dress for a friend's wedding just a *little* too long. Low and behold, when I finally decided I shouldn't wait any longer on such an important article of clothing (that would already need tailoring as it was), I returned to the website to find that the dress was on clearance and sold out of every size up to an 8. I'm a 2.. Trying not to freak out, I ordered the 8 and immediately called my mom for suggestions, who referred me to Art's. They're new to my hometown and had just set up camp in the beautiful new Bay State Plaza. Apparently, they had just done an incredible job completely re-lining her friend's 20-year-old jacket. I brought the dress in and explained the situation. They seemed (ha) a little wary of basically rebuilding this dress, but took it on with confidence. All things considered, the pricing was very good, especially considering the dress was on huge clearance as it is. (Between the sale price and the tailoring, I still saved $60 off the original price of the dress!) They were SO sweet and did an absolutely beautiful job with the dress. It fits amazing and you would never know it had to have so much taken off. They made sure every last detail was perfect. The true test, of course, will be if they left enough material to let it out if I gain a little extra weight before the wedding.. I should have maybe mentioned that possibility when I originally went in. I haven't done any cleaning here, but I'm told they use only 100% natural cleaners and can remove literally *any* stain. I have a shirt that's willing to call their bluff. [To be continued..] I have no qualms about driving 40 min to my hometown to give them more projects, if need be. I love's Art's Cleaners. The woman who runs the place is so nice and does a great job of remembering everyone who comes in. They use earth friendly cleaners and take the hangers back to recycle. She also does alterations and does excellent work. I had a wool coat from LL Bean that was too large for me and she had it done in a week and I finally have a coat that fits me! We've used each of the local dry cleaners in town and Art's is, hands down, the best combination of value and service. The owners are friendly, accommodating, and they provide one service that's unusual: hand-boxed shirts. Most dry cleaners use a folding machine, which yields creases and wrinkles. Since Art's hand-folds the shirts, when one is removed from the packaging (usually when I'm on a business trip) there is no need to iron out the wrinkles. The prices are reasonable and again, everyone in the shop is super friendly. read more

I've been coming to this cleaners for a while. They do a good job at cleaning my business wear, mainly dress shirts. BUT, they charge double for shirts that are modern fit or trim fit. I recently was charged $5 per shirt. They explained that their machine that presses the shirts only fits the old style fat guy shirts, and therefore they have to iron modern fit shirts without their machine. Apparently, them not having a machine for a VERY COMMON modern fit shirt is now the customer's problem, and they get to charge double. I hunt for deals when I buy my shirts, so it doesn't really make a lot of sense to pay 20% of the shirt's purchase price every time I clean it. Seems like a ripoff to me. If you don't have the right machine for a very normal dress shirt, that's not the customer's problem. Again, they do a good job, if you like paying double to have your shirts washed. read more
