They did a phenomenal job of mounting a poster I had into something better than what I originally had. Thanks to Michele and the rest of the team at the Highland Park location.

They will ponder, who was this individual and why did they embellish their bread with his likeness? This and other similar items are available at Hobby Lobby. I ventured in HL today in search of a multi-generational craft. I settled on painting metal containers that we can fill with candy. I decided against painting on glass because, well, breakable. I think the painting/candy eating activity will be just fine. I found all that I needed here, along with other things I don't (see toaster, above) and most of it on sale (sometimes up to 70 percent off). Surprisingly, most of the Easter items were already cleared away for patriotic red white and blue items (Memorial Day? Flag Day? Fourth of July ?).

Today, my husband and I decided to swing to look for some fun light switch and electrical outlet covers, and hooks for keys. When I tell you the possibilities are endless. But before I got into that, I was SHOCKED to see fall decor already on super sale, and Christmas decor was already taking over half of the store. I guess it makes sense because I too start decorating for Christmas November 1st which is just a month away. But I was super surprised when I saw it in stores today. After wandering for a bit, we finally found what we were looking for and ended up with these metal/clay covers & hooks with a blue/grey design to add some extra umpf into our walls. So why the removal of 1 star? I'd say was the help from the staff. When I asked staff for help looking for the right aisle, it was as though I was burdening her. She just said "it's over there, if you walk and keep looking you'll find it." I mean technically did what she said and found it... but I just wished save gave us a general aisle rather than a general direction. Overall, this hobby lobby is stalked with all the things, more than I could ever dream of using or needing. I also need to remember that I need to stop by on days that are NOT Sundays.

In today's society, things that are broken are often discarded and thrown away…read more I attended a kintsugi workshop at The Art Center Highland Park. Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage. Kintsugi treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object. The broken pieces are mended together then painted with gold, silver or platinum paint. The result is that the broken piece is now transformed and by highlighting the flaws and accepting the imperfections, this is now a completely different and beautiful object. Our workshop was taught by Takahashi, Mami, a skilled teacher from Tokyo (by Ghibli Museum she told us). All materials were provided, even the broken pottery (an advanced student brought their own broken vase). The upstairs studio was open, well-ventilated and set up with all materials laid out in an orderly fashion. I appreciated the knowledge and experience that our teacher had, as a skilled working apprentice under a Grand kintsugi Master. She walked around, demonstrating and providing hands-on instruction. As a philosophy, kintsugi is similar to wabi-sabi, an embracing of the flawed or imperfect. Maybe I can incorporate a bit of this practice myself, and accept flaws or imperfections rather than deeming something less than perfect and thus must be discarded. I've taken classes here before and attended gallery showings. This is a close location to downtown HP, has a parking lot and street parking.

I had installed it into my present house and my wife and I enjoyed looking at it every time we walked into our bedroom. Last year I noticed the glass was coming out of the leading holding it together. Upon further investigation I realized that the wood frame was rotted on the outside causing the issue. The glass was literally sinking out of the frame. After searching the internet I stumbled across Art Glass and Studio. I'm sure glad I did. Lawrence (Law) was a pleasure to work with! He was honest and realistic about his timeframe for assessing the situation and actually getting the work started and finished. I really appreciated that he let us know that he is a busy guy handling a number of projects at the same time but would give our window his utmost attention when our time came. He gave us plenty of options for the repairs working with our budget and suggesting different methods for reinstallation of the window. The option we chose was to make the window a decorative piece instead of an actual permanent window. That way if we move again or our children want the window to stay in the family after we're gone it will be easier to move it to the next place. When it came time for our window to be worked on, I removed it from our house (my choice to save money) and took it over to his shop. Law started on it and kept us informed as to how it was going. Once started, he finished it quickly and it looks great! In this day and age of "bait and switch" it was such a pleasure to work with someone who actually does what he says and does great work. This window was built around 1870 and thanks to Art Glass and Studio (Law) it should have another 150 years of in it. I highly recommend them
