I contacted 3 other shops in the area. Victor at Artistic Upholstery offered a wonderful quote and I believe he most understood what I wanted. My 30 year old Mission sofa, looks amazing. I could not find exactly what I wanted from his vast supply of examples. I searched on-line and found the tapestry fabric I was looking for and Victor made it all happen. Thank You Victor. read more

I took in 3 sofa cushions in for foam replacement. They were deflated after owning them for 20 years. I originally had called several other businesses but they were either closed or they didn't answer their phones. Victor on the other hand was just the opposite. He said bring it in or give him the dimensions. I was in the area, I will drop in. The store was next to a car repair place, but his business is facing on Whittier Blvd. Visible signs on every corner. Street parking only. There's parking right in front of his store. The owner, Victor, has been in the family business for 35 years. He was easy to talk to and listened to your needs. He gave his recommendations. He didn't try to upsell or force to buy anything. Down to earth. There was a white sofa in the center of the room that has three different cushions of softness for testing. Firm, Medium, Soft. The firm was way too firm, Soft was way too soft and the medium was just right. I went with the medium. I took it in on a Tuesday and it was ready on Thursday. At first, when I got home and place the cushions back into the sofa and sat on it, I was like, whoa, feels like it was firm. It felt like it because it was brand new. After the family been sitting on them for 2 weeks, it has been broken in. Feels great. Thanks, Victor! Give Victor a call and give him a try. read more

Victor and his team did a wonderful job for my mom's couch. We could not match the color and pattern perfectly but the work they did was excellent! Their prices are highly competitive. I recently had my Moms Mid Century couch and two MCM chairs reupholstered by Victor. Words cannot describe how pleased we are with his work. From choosing the fabric, picking up our furniture, throughout the process to delivery Victor was there every step of the way. Victor took my Moms couch in plaid, removed the attached pillows and restored it to original look (see pink couch photo) with detached pillows with zippers for easy cleaning. We are so happy with everything he did! Thank you so much Victor! I believe God lead me to you to take such good care of our family heirlooms! read more

I worked with Victor at Artistic Upholstery recently to recover my barstools. He gladly sent me samples of fabric via text. When I thought I had made a decision, I had second thoughts and he happily sent me more samples. Once we decided on a fabric, Victor worked closely with me to minimize the time my barstools where in his shop as he knew I used them daily. It was a pleasure working with Victor and I will work with him again should the need arise. read more

I cannot speak highly enough of this business and the quality of their work, the professionalism of the owner and the time frame they adhere to. We found this place on Yelp as we wanted some custom outdoor cushions made. This business was neither the cheapest nor the most expensive quote however we were very impressed by Victor (owner's) responsiveness and ability to understand all the measurements and instructions given. Having anything custom made is very scary as you do not know the quality of the workmanship and how the end product will finally turn out. We were in very good hands with Victor. His people sewed the cushions beautifully and stuffed them for us. They made it in the amount of time he specified. And I can personally vouch for the fact that he stands by his work!!! read more

Scored a beat up midcentury modern couch that needed some serious love. I shopped around and AU was quick to respond with an accurate timeline to take in and complete the work. The result was fantastic. Great work done with amazing attention to detail and within my budget (no up-selling, or crazy add ons). Called, told me to text them the pictures for a quote. Over several day no quote, checked again said they would get me a quote, been over another week. Wouldn't recommend this place. Most likely saw there was no profit, but it's fine at least just tell me they can't do it. That also means they are gonna price gouge since they only look for the large profit wins read more

We are so happy with the service and quality of work provided by Artistic Upholstery. The slipcovers they did for our 20-year-old sofa brought a new life to it! It took a little while for the fabric to come in (which is normal for 2021/2022) and for him to have room in his shop for a big sofa but once he had the sofa they worked quickly. From the time we ordered the fabric until delivery they were good about communicating the schedule. If there was any way possible I could give them more stars, I would. They are ARTIST and I am not just saying that. I purchased a white sectional and due to having 2 dogs and dirty hands all over it, the furniture needed a makeover and I must say, I will probably never purchase new furniture again (As long as this Business is around). My sectional is now one of a kind and looks like I paid $10K for it. His prices are more than reasonable and remember you pay for what you get and I got SOOOOO much more!!!! read more

I have never wanted to hug a sofa! After months of researching re-upholstery and about a month of searching for someone I trusted, I chose to work with Victor at Artistic Upholstery. I had emailed detailed photos of my sofa to a few places who either didn't bother to reply, took weeks to reply and were not very helpful, or quoted outrages rates. NOT Victor! Victor replied in a timely manner the first time and continued that throughout the process. He welcomed me to the shop where the work would be done and was happy to show me around. I needed to have the springs in my sofa repaired. It was my great-aunt's, purchased over 60 years ago, well cared for and well worth saving. The only reason for having any work done was to have the springs re-tied that had come loose after years of wear. I later decided to just have the sofa re-upholstered since re-tying the springs would be equally labor intensive and would not cost much more. Victor and his technicians took care of the 8-way hand-tied springs on the bottom and tightened the springs in the back as well. Since the springs in each cushion were still in great shape, there was no need to replace them which would have cost more. I didn't realize that choosing a fabric would be so difficult. Victor was patient, taught me lots about upholstery fabric based on my lifestyle and the style of the sofa as was able to recommend the perfect fabric that fit within my budget and exceeded my visions. Victor had set a goal of having my sofa back to me for the holidays. Even after I'd told him to take his time. I honestly did not expect to have it back until January, which was completely fine after I'd held up the original timeframe with the fabric selection. He delivered it the week of Christmas. I was elated, speechless and just completely blown away by the craftsmanship and attention to detail. (see photos posted) The soft champagne velvet made me want to HUG my sofa! I'm sure that I'll have her for another 50-60 years. I could not be happier and highly recommend working with Artistic Upholstery. read more

I have had my antique sofa for many years and finally got around to getting it reupholstered. I found Victor through Yelp and can now contribute to the reviews that speak truth to his professionalism, his courtesy but mostly to his artistry. As the sofa was so old, I bought it in England - it was made somewhere in between 1890s-1900s - I was nervous about how well it would be treated. When Victor came to view it, he noticed things I had not, such as the depth of the seat, the need to add more cushioning to the back of the couch. I saw immediately that Victor was an expert at what he does. He showed as much care and attention to my sofa as I did. Victor was patient working with me to find the best fabric for my price point. Meaning I got what I wanted at the price I wanted to pay for it, which isn't as easy as it sounds! Plus he is extremely polite and responsive to communication. If you're reading this, then you can know from mine and all the other reviews that Victor is amazing at what he does. Artistic Upholstery is the best upholstery in Los Angeles. Hands down. They transformed 80s couches into a luxurious blue velvet living room. They're quick to respond, offer honest quotes, friendly customer service ,and will tell you straight up if it's worth it to upholster your furniture or not. I designed a blue velvet living room for the Neighbors art exhibit at ace121gallery and worked closely with Artistic Upholstery to bring the vision to life. They mastered the look. It's the most complimented piece in the gallery. Come see it on exhibit now until June 1st at @ace121gallery As I was explaining the vision of a living room to my mother, she offered to donate our family's 30 year old furniture (2 chairs and a loveseat). Her only condition is that I didn't mess it up and that I turn the furniture in the something greater than it is. I took it to Artistic Upholstery and wow! It's incredible. I've never seen more beautiful furniture. Their work over-exceeded our expectations. If there's one thing I can say about AU it's that they know what they're doing and they do it the best. I requested tufting and watched as every button was carefully threaded into placed. They have a refined skill that comes from decades of experience. Excellent craftsmanship. Now, I have 3 beautiful, timeless pieces of furniture that my family is proud of and that I can pass down to future generations. read more

We got a free chair when we picked up furniture on craigslist. It was an older chair but it was still in decent shape so we decided to bring it home with us. We did not know any reupholstery places so we looked on yelp and found Victor and Ambrose of Artistic Upholstery. We took our chair to them and I have to say it looks sooo much better than before it is more updated and modern. Turn around time was about 2 months but that was partly due to us not choosing a fabric. Once they had the fabric in hand it was about a two week turn around time. After the 5 star reviews that Yelp has for this company we contacted them to recover our patio furniture cushions and for some additional covers. We received a prompt response from Victor, he came to our house the next day and gave us his quotation within a day with the amount of fabric that is required to do the job. He seemed nice and professional. We accepted his offer and ordered the fabric. As soon as we received the material we e-mailed him to let him know that we had received it. He e-mailed us telling us that he will be in touch in a week. A week passed and no body called. We waited a few days and e-mailed to get status, no response. We e-mailed again still no response. Called twice, no response. Finally we decided to cancel the job by e-mail. It is almost summer and we lost a month. We have a dining room set with four chairs that were getting a little tattered. Instead of buying a new set, we decided to check Artistic Upholstery. Victor greeted us and listened to exactly what we wanted--a reasonable fix for this modest set. He came up with several alternatives, and helped us choose a fabric the cat hopefully won't shread. Victor was personable. His work was excellent. Prices fair. Service was top notch. I don't reupholster things often, but I consider myself very lucky to have found such a great business! Update (January 2012): Six months later, I am happy to report that the reupholstered chairs are holding up great. We're very happy that we took Victor's advice and covered with the fabric he recommended. Funny--he was absolutely right...the cat is not attracted to this new fabric, so there is no damage. We've told friends and family that the chairs were redone, and they can't beleive it. I've sent several people over to see Victor at Artistic Upholstery for a variety of work (both big and small). Feedback has been that Victor treats everyone great, and does awesome work. A+++ read more

My wife and I recently had Victor and Artistic Upholstery reupholster our large sectional couch and we can't be happier. We found Artistic Upholstery on Yelp and he was a great help from beginning to end! From loaning us fabric sample books to not charging us for the fabric sample book our dogs chewed up...from picking up our couch to the work-in-progress photos emailed to us half way through the job...Victor was incredibly helpful and professional. Not to mention we had a very tight deadline (3 weeks) for having our couch completed before hosting a party for all our family & friends and Victor was able to not only meet our deadline, but was finished and delivered a day early. 3 weeks may sound like a lot, but it took nearly two weeks for the large delivery of fabric to arrive and even then Victor finished 5 large sectional pieces within a week...impressive!!! I visited several shops looking for someone to turn a dated looking fabric ottoman into a cool leather ottoman. Most shops were either well out of my price range for leather or tried to sell me on a "leather-like" material that looked cheap. The reviews for Artistic Upholstery were so overwhelmingly positive, I emailed Victor. He got right back to me, asked for pictures and sent me a quote super quick. When I arrived at the shop, Victor and I spoke about what I envisioned and he showed me several leather books. While I looked and we chatted he suggested that I might like a "scrap" that he had in his inventory. The scrap was PERFECT and the price was even less than the other quotes I received for "leather-like". Working with Victor has been a great experience. My husband is a graphic designer by trade so he truly appreciated Victor's artistic professionalism through the process of getting our settee restored to it's original elegance. Even going so far as to source a special trim since we wanted it to be just like the original. Victor is very knowledgeable and walked us through step by step of how the piece would be taken down to the frame and any issues would be addressed. The piece has been in my husband's family for a long time. In fact, as the story goes, it was purchased by his grandfather from the Vanderbilt estate. I don't know if this is true but it is still a treasured heirloom. And now, with its renewed life, we will enjoy it for many more years to come. read more

We purchased a 8-way hand tied hardwood frame Thomasville sofa 20 years ago. With daily use the fabric became worn and dated. We debated about replacing versus reupholstering. After a good discussion with Victor we decided to go with reupholstering since purchasing a new well constructed sofa would be more costly. Victor was very patient and spent lots of time with us. He had us sit on a sample sofa with soft, medium, and hard cushion foam. He showed us many fabric samples that he thought would go with our style and other furnishings. He encouraged us to take the samples home to see them in the lighting of our own room. Once we chose our fabric, Victor ordered it the same day. Due to Covid it did take a couple months to obtain. Once completed Victor delivered the beautiful sofa to our home. It was beautifully reupholstered, and we are very pleased with the quality of Victor's work and service.
