I submitted a review for Artistic Trees in February, providing an abbreviated history of ~ 10 years. They were onsite in mid-February, light-trimming the citrus and one oak, raising and topping another old Live Oak. They then planted two (each) Arbequina and Koroneiki olive trees. I reached out again on short-notice for Rene and his team to build 3 grape vine trellises. We set up the date; ~ one week out -- they were on-site as scheduled, completed the trellis' build, applied wood sealant, and planted four (white Muscadine) vines (I'm still waiting for two concord grape vines to arrive). They also pre-dug holes for the soon-to-arrive vines, so it will be easy planting once they arrive. I'll continue to hire and recommend Artistic Trees long as I remain in my home. We usually have our trees trimmed every two years or so. The last few times we have used Artistic Trees. They did an absolutely outstanding job again this time. They showed up promptly every morning and worked so hard in this unusual heat. They also ground stumps and shrubs we lost during the last two winters. We were very pleased with the grinding job they did. Rene's employees are very good and hard working. He usually stops by at least twice a day and works along side them until he needs to go check another property. He wants the customer to be totally satisfied. Artistic Trees (AT) worked their magic on our 50 year old ash trees, live oaks, Mt Laurel and transformed our scraggly, mossy trees into a picture perfect canopy. AT Crew was on time, professional and  appeared to enjoy their work, even in 36° weather.  Our landscaping, as well as our neighbors, was covered and well protected. The AT crew brought a bucket truck for our 40 ft trees and their trimming tools were sterilized to prevent spreading TTDs (Tree Transmitted Disease - my acronym not AT's). I greatly appreciated, the respectful and knowledgeable manner our questions were answered by Rene Pina, owner/arborist, and AT crew, aka No BS.  Cleanup was meticulous. I had a 40ft. tree in my back yard this week that was split right down the middle and in danger of falling on 2 of my neighbor's homes. I called Mr. Rene Pena at Artistic Tree's and someone came to my house within the hour. The price was reasonable so I asked them when they could start and was told"right now". Within 30 minutes there were 6 men working on my tree. Benjamin who was cutting up in the tree is a real "Tree Ninja". All of the guys were polite and professional and clean! EDIT: I recently discovered that Rene (the owner) may be mis-representing himself, and he may not be a licensed arborist. If you choose to use his services, I HIGHLY suggest you ask for proof of his license. After reading reviews through several sites, I opted to go with Artistic Tree & Landscape. I wanted a trained Arborist, familiar with the area and sought out the company. When Rene, the owner didn't return my call, I actually went looking for his store front (which isn't on Grissom rd anymore). However, the owner of the Auto Body shop offered to contact him for me. I should have stopped right there. My requests were quite simple; trim the trees for health, and to avoid a CPS line, remove the ivy, and grind the stumps (quite a few of them), and make sure that a licensed Arborist was on site while the work was being done. He said it would be 1 or 2 day job, agreed to my requests and gave me a price without an itemized estimate. The cost was high, but he seemed to understand what I wanted, and assured me the work would be done as requested. I won't go into too much detail, but will give the following: Only half the ivy was removed, and most of the roots were not pulled. Rene tried to convince me to leave the remaining half - without reducing the cost of the estimate. One large stump was ground, but not in it's entirety and it will need to be redone. A couple of other stumps were addressed, and a couple of trees removed, but the majority of stumps were left behind. The excuse given, was that there was no access through the easement area, because my neighbors weren't available to let them through. The grinder was in my yard on the first day, and there was no reason the stumps couldn't have been done at that time. Trees were not properly trimmed, and several branches have broken, and fallen into my yard. And the one tree I was told wouldn't need to be removed for potential issues with a CPS line (he assured me it would be fine) - it was cut down by CPS. Had Rene (the only trained Arborist) been on site, I think most of these things could have been taken care of correctly and professionally. His crews were on site 3x and still couldn't get it right. Rene asked for full payment before the job was finished (which didn't happen). When he was late for the 4th attempt to correct errors, I told him I didn't want him on my property and to consider himself paid in full. I paid just over 60% of the original estimate. In my opinion, I paid an exorbitant sum and am considering litigation. read more

Artistic Trees, owned by Renee who employs a large team of workers, has worked with me in San Antonio for at least 15 years, with my Ash, Loquat, Hedge Roses,and more. He will give you ideas as well as learn your ideas with ease. Initially, before his business took off, he stayed with each crew till the job was done to perfection. He, himself, is a master at not only pruning, but, seasonal feeding, arbor pest control, and landscaping. He had my trees absolutely gorgeous, while I decorated them with ground cover flowers. He is very cordial, and will listen intently to your desires, while discussing with you what would be the best for the type tree, and how to "spruce" up the house with beautiful trees that set the stage. I had people stop in the street just to tell me how beautiful my yard and trees were. His company has grown, yes, and now really has so many crews, he can't oversee them all like before, which is truly a shame. Nonetheless, he is a man to his word, if you are not satisfied, call him, and he WILL do the job to not only your expectations, but, his, with no extra call fee. I will never have another landscaper/ tree trimmer than Renee and his business, Artistic Trees, but, again, he is not always on site, and his workers have done some really idiotic things, but, all it takes is a call to Renee, and it's back to the growth and glory of your trees and landscape. For Renee I give 5/5..........just make sure to check your trees after the visit, and CALL Renee directly.......he will personally make sure of your satisfaction! He is not cheap, his prices are mid high, but, worth every dime! You will be more than satisfied, and likely will make him your permanent tree sculptor, as well as landscaping designer. read more
