I usually do not leave reviews, but this time I felt compelled to do so because of how poorly the open play is managed at this facility. I arrived around 4:30 p.m. with my 13yr old son and two of his friends to try open play.The court was completely packed when we arrived, and the staff suggested we come back around 6:00 p.m. because it "would clear out." We left and went to Atlas Park to pass the time, then returned at 6:30. At that time it was equally packed so I asked at what time would it clear and how do they manage the time of players. The staff member said they "just look at the cameras," or check payments which, to me, sounds like there is no real system and that people can just stay as long as they want if they are known by staff. There seems to be no regulation or order about when someone's paid time is over. After waiting,I expressed my concerns about the time management. The staff then proceeded to tell me that I could pay at 7:15 p.m. and that the boys would be able to play on the right basket because the group there was leaving, since it was a private session. A group of approximately 12 boys who had been playing in the middle basket came over to the basket where my son and his friends were playing. The group of boys approached my son and his friends and stated that they would be playing a game first and that my son and his friends could play after their game was over, which would be taking away from the time I had just paid for. One of the boys even made a comment like "don't make me violate you," which is completely unacceptable and clearly meant to intimidate my son and his friends so they would not play. I immediately went to the staff to express my concerns. For a proper game especially in a space with just one hoop there should be a maximum of 10 players, so this was already an issue.The staff member walked over and asked the boys if they could play together or move to the other side.The boys argued with the staff, ignored what he said, and simply continued their game. The staff had no real authority, and nothing changed, so we ended up leaving. I am extremely disappointed not only because this place is taking people's money without any clear way of tracking court time or giving everyone a fair chance to play, but also because the staff could not ensure a safe and respectful environment for players. I had hoped this could be a regular place for my son and his friends to play and maybe even become members, but this was an awful first time experience. I hope management seriously reviews their open play policies, staff training, and crowd control so families and players can feel safe and actually get the court time they pay for. read more

I can't begin to thank the incredible staff at Artistic Stitch for creating the most memorable birthday party for my daughter. Fran, Diana and Sal you are a dream team. When I tell you my niece had the best birthday party ever it is an understatement!! The staff was very attentive to my family and guests. We didn't even realize all the activities included in our package. The girls enjoyed everything and the parents raved about having a little time to relax and eat while the girls were pampered. Came with a groupon: $50 worth of balls ($3 for 15 balls), $10 for food & 1hour rock climbing. Rock climbing was closed off for a bday party. But they said we can come back and use the 1hr on another day. I asked what do I show to redeem it and they said don't worry about it they'll "remember". OKAY, sure you will. There are only four "cages". Two were for softball and two for baseball. Limited amount of bats and helmets. So you have to wait until someone finishes to use theirs, same wait time applied to cages in use. When the machine runs out of balls, you have to stop and wait for one of the staff members to pick up the balls you batted and refill the machine. The food: Three of us, three vouchers so either dine at separate tables or just use one on one table and use the other two for a future visit. Can't blame the place for being SLICK. The pizza was pretty good, and so was dessert but the spinach salad tasted funny. The dressing didnt taste like balsamic at all and they used some sort of imitation Gorgonzola cheese, because it tasted like straight up plastic. If I ever tasted plastic that cheese would be just like it. I know this groupon is supposed to lock u in for another two visits but I doubt I'm returning. I bought a Groupon Deal of $20 for $50 Groupon towards batting cages, court time or rock climbing and $10 towards food. The staff was friendly and the space was spacious. It was quiet, given that we went on a weekday during the day. The decor is nice. We had the batting cages for 45 mins. (it was $45 for 30 mins if I remember correctly for the machine. It was cheaper if you went with someone else and they pitched to you. They guy threw in another 15 mins for the extra $5.) The downside was that the machine needed to be reset every 15 balls and the control computer required you to walk through another batting cage with a family pitching to each other rather than the machine. It would have been better if they set the pitching machine cage next to the computer to reset it. We spent more time figuring out the machine and picking up balls than hitting. They don't give you $10 towards food credit. There is a pizza place attached to the store but they said they were not associated with them anymore, which is misleading given the other reviews I've seen after our visit. If it wasn't for the Groupon Deal, I probably would not have went to this batting cage. read more

I recently celebrated my son 5th Birthday Party and I have to say it was great. My son had a Basketball theme Ultimate VIP package party. Some of our guest arrived early than the scheduled time and the party host allowed the kids to play basketball before the party began. The party host were very attentive and made sure all kids were included in the activity. They even adjusted some of the games due to the age of the kids. After playing the first set of games the kids and parents had pizzas, ice cream and popcorn afterwards the second round of games resume followed by the dance party! Hands down all the parents were impressed with the kiddie dance club and rave on how much of a good time they had. Despite one setback one of the parents experienced with the party hosts ignorance towards food allergies- Sal stepped in and apologize for the situation. We just celebrated my daughters birthday here! This place is great! First off let me start by saying that I booked my party SUPER last minute. Despite that Sal was so sweet and understanding and made me feel like he would take care of everything. I had never been to the facility and I was pleasantly surprised. Sal and his team totally delivered. The girls spa is amazing! All the girls had an amazing time and the boys totally enjoyed the sport activities. Even the parents got to join in the fun! My daughter celebrated her sixth birthday at the Pink Boutique. From start to end everyone I had encountered was accommodating. Sal was so helpful at making suggestions for the party and a hands own owner which I appreciate. He always returned calls. The restaurant on the premises serves great food. So the staff here is absolutely fantastic! All of them are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They make sure all of the kids feel welcome and included, and ensure that the children leave with smiles on their faces!! The little salon there is absolutely adorable, and I love the huge couches in there! The rooms are all done nicely, and are decorated to look like the birthday themes! The basketball courts are extremely well maintained, and it smells very clean here; not at all how you would expect a gym to smell! This place is great for birthdays, or if you want to avoid a packed park when you're trying to play basketball. On Fridays, basketball free play is $20 after 3:00pm. Great place to take the kids and know that they are safe. Fully stocked vending machines with Gatorade and Water as well as snacks, it's a great space for the kids. The hosts and instructors are fantastic and keep the kids entertained. They work quickly and are very friendly!! The place is huge and is awesome for parties with large or small groups. They have options for the Salon and Sports combination parties which is awesome if you have a little princess and a little sports star! They staff are accommodating and are able to keep the children fully entertained. The ice cream bar in the biggest package is a great add on, as is the popcorn and candy bar. The candy bar is great for the kids and they usually leave with stuffed goodybags ! Another Groupon member here! I used common sense and showed up on a Wednesday 3PM when I was the only customer there and of course, I had a great time practicing my swing with bats and helmets to choose from. I believe it gets busy on weekends, so I personally would avoid those times. However, if you show up at around 3PM on a weekday, you can bat in the cage until your hands bleed(literally...after around 170 pitches, one of my wrists opened up, so bring baseball gloves!) They have food and ice cream. Their pizza place that is inside is geared towards groups, so I wasn't able to try their 14-inch pies(about $10+) as that would obviously be too much for me. I choose not to try wall climbing, as I was there for batting practice only. They have 4 cages next to each other: 2 for softball and 2 for baseball. If you run out of balls, just grab a bucket, and place the batted balls back into the machine behind the screen. If you are looking for someone to do it for you, then maybe this isn't for you, but I surely didn't mind. In fact, I found it education to learn how pitching mechanism works. At $3 for 15 balls, its about 20 cents a pitch, which is one of the best deals in tri-state. They also had a promo when you fill the card with $50, you get a $20, so the value is incredible! I dare anyone to find a better deal than that! Staff was minimal, but once they showed me what to do, I didn't need anyone to babysit me. Afterwards, I went to Arby's nearby, but they have other places to eat as well, if their restaurant gets busy or you're in the mood for something else once you done. I will definitely come back to use up the rest of my credits and then some. Middle Village/Glendale area is very friendly as well, if you never been there. So let's recap. For optimal good time, come during off peak hours; Bring batting gloves and be ready to grab a bucket to refill the machine on your own. read more

Overall I had a good time. My group and I made the best of it. What I think they need to improve on? When my group and I walked into the complex we were not greeted. That was due to the fact that there wasn't a desk associate. We stood at the entrance for about 10 minutes, maybe longer just to proceed to look for an associate. It felt like we could of just walked in and started playing, FOR FREE. For paying $150 my group and I didn't feel accommodated. And then I heard the associate that came to help say she couldn't find our reservation. From the reviews, this isn't the first time. MAYBE this place should invest in a PC or laptop instead of an IPAD. I have nothing against the staff and I know they were probably all occupied and it was late in the day, but for a business to thrive it must keep the costumer wanting to come back. And something as vital as being greeted and being treated as a valuable customer will prevent that from happening. Now for ballers inquiring about the space, this is for you. The space is a little tight. Although you can still have good runs you feel a little claustrophobic. This isn't something the complex can control. I went in for a birthday party for my boy's 40th and his son's 1rst, thrown by his wife upon walking in you could tell this place was different when you walk in and to your left seems to be two little boutiques and straight in front of you are two basketball courts. So u automatically assume this place is a sports/recreational complex. People where having a good time the atmosphere was awesome you get downstairs there was a decent size event room for a stage and a dance floor, the food was incredible cakes pizza appetizers the works you could not asked for more!!! When we where leaving we happen to talk to the owner and he said " 5 years ago no one believed me and this idea but I'm here now .. He has a great something going there!!!! I'm giving his place 3 stars for a couple of reasons. I came here for a bday party and upon arriving there was no one there to assist me I waited about 5mins before someone came. This place is great for kids who love sports they offer a lot such as basketball, soccer, kickball, baseball etc. The pizza was really good that was made on site. The staff is very nice and helpful. The the things I didn't like is that it was extremely loud in this place every room you went to was over the top loud I honestly feel like if I come back hear I will need to bring ear plugs. Walking into this place almost felt like I was going to a club ! So not appealing to parents I feel and the second thing was how cold it was being inside was just as cold as standing outside ! I took at tour and then we booked a group event that would have made use of the softball/baseball batting cages then they said we could ALL CLIMB the Rock wall and play a game of soccer MAN WHERE THEY WRONG ON THAT ONE. I should of known that we where off to a bad start with these folks when I came with the group and they said we DO NOT have you down but we will work it out. We then get told you will start at the baseball cages and bat we said ok after 40 minutes went by we asked could we move on and they said oh no you guys just have the 2 batting cages. They said that softball was booked for a party and the soccer field was booked for practices. We then had to fight them even for pizza and soda. THey took our money and gave us less for it. During our Dinner we then Found the manager and He threw it back in our face BIG TIME like it was our fault for coming on our night that we planned for 2 months. We then ask How much does the Climbing Wall cost and He said its on 3$ per climb and it will not break the bank to come back and do it. Terrible, batting cages for baseball were all over the place, a few came at my knees. Only after we said something to the guy working did he admit that there was a "chip in the wheel" thanks guy for letting us know that beforehand. They don't have any bats to use, had to use a old softball bat that vibrated when you hit anything, you have to constantly refill your own balls into the machine if you want to still hit them. Ugh. Last Sunday, a group of friends and I all went to Artistic Stitch after buying groupons for $50 worth of batting cage use, $10 for food, and two 30-minute rock climbing sessions. One person bought the groupons, and when I heard that the place, a sports complex, was called "Artistic Stitch", I just knew it was going to be an interesting trip. At first I thought we were in the wrong place. The groupon said sports complex, but I was looking at a sign/screenprinting shop and a restaurant, but finally noticed the "Sports Complex" above the main entrance. Overall, the entire facility looks like a mini strip mall. Upon entering, there were some baseball themed displays and an unattended ice cream set up with little tables beside it. The ice cream looked pretty delicious, but no one was around to serve it. Ahead of us were four batting cages, and then there was an office, which is the sign/t-shirt business. Behind the office is the rock climbing wall, and at the opposite end of the building is an apparel shop and a restaurant that tries to be too fancy compared to the rest of the complex. Noticing this clusterf*ck of things going on under one roof made me say instantly, "What a weird place". I found myself repeating this phrase several times that afternoon. We waited FOREVER for the groupons to be redeemed and to receive our voucher cards. There were a few people around, and our group of four had to take turns using two available cages. We basically had to help ourselves around the place. The bats and helmets hanging on the back wall were disgusting, and there was no staff switching used and sweaty equipment for clean ones. ALL of the helmets were SOAKED. Gross. While waiting for the cages, one of my friends and I decided to try out the rock climbing wall, which ended up being kind of small. I get that this complex is geared toward kids, but adults should be able to have some challenging fun too, right? My friend and I climbed once and spent MAYBE 10 minutes in the room. And that was our session. The attendant was cool with us floating around and didn't explain how to fill up the 30 minutes that we had. And, did I mention that there was no air conditioning? We were sweating a lot, not really from the activity, but from how sweltering it was in there. Maybe that's why the staff seemed like they didn't want to do anything and were at times non-existent when we were looking for help. When I finally got to use the batting cage, I had the settings pretty low, as I don't really play baseball or softball. I knew I was going to suck, but damn, on kid settings, I should be getting hits. The balls were flying every which way, and it would have been nice if someone was there to give instruction or do a demo. My boyfriend used to play baseball and even he complained about the balls being almost impossible to hit. When the ball machine was empty, no one was around to help us or show us how to refill the machine (which, personally, I don't think customers should have to do). After some time, we decided to have lunch at the adjacent restaurant, Saverio's (also owned by Artistic Stitch). We were told that in order to redeem the $10 food voucher, we had to use ONE CARD per TABLE. That would mean we wouldn't be able to sit together. What?! That's insane! And of course, the only things that you could get with $10 were the desserts. Shirley T. is right, they're trying to be slick, cause if you want to eat on the premises, you're forced to fork out more cash since the food voucher is essentially useless.The friend who bought the groupons for us was so livid that she called her credit card company to complain about what a sham the deal was, and she was refunded the money. We left Artistic Stitch annoyed, hungry, and dripping in sweat (someone else's sweat at that...). At least in the end we ended up paying $0 for poor service, unsanitary equipment, and a complete waste of time. Artistic Stitch should have just stuck with its original sign and printing business instead of biting off more than it can chew. It's one thing to sponsor sporting events or programs, but having an interest in sports doesn't make one an expert in running a program or facility. It seems like the focus is on the quantity of businesses they can have, rather than the quality of services provided. I DO NOT recommend this place, not even for a $25 groupon; it's not even worth a penny. read more

My child's school booked a class trip here to celebrate the end of the year with a fun day of sports at Artistic Stitch Sports complex. What a NIGHTMARE! I have been here on two previous occasions to eat in Severio's Bistro and had TERRIBLE customer service, I had hoped the sporting experience would be better, but it was worse. 1.) We showed up with 60 3rd and 4th graders, when we arrived, the AC system we were told was broken. 2.) Within minutes of splitting the classes to their upstairs and downstairs sporting centers the kids were drenched. The 3rd graders were playing soccer with one associate, she seemed good but quickly lost their interest as I feel she lost interest as well. The kids started to one by one break off and sit around instead of being engaged by the staff... 3.) it was extremely HOT. We made several attempts to ask the complex for some refreshments we were told would be provided. 45 minutes went by with us asking nearly a dozen times for water for children that were obviously over heating..finallly we were given ONE pitcher of water and some cups for us to fill ourselves and hand out to the children. 4.) They were severely understaffed. When we were finally able to come upstairs we found that there was no one to help get the children fitted with gear an bats, there was no one to operate the 4 separate batting cages to give the children a safe operating speed for the machine.. ONE MAN was in charge of helping su with everything. The parents were asked to collect the balls to refill the machines... seriously? 5.) After being at the complex for two hours, the oven had yet to be turned on to feed the children. We asked when the food would be ready for our 58 students and were told in ten minutes, multiple times. We explained we were to leave the complex by 1 o'clock. By TEN MINUTES TO ONE, we were told that the stone oven would take 20 minutes to warm up and they had started taking the dough out to assemble pizzas. SERIOUSLY??? 6.) It was explained to us the children would be sitting on the floor of the complex to eat their pizza as they had not set up any tables or chairs for our 58 children. At this point we had been spoken to very rudely and with very little sincerity bout the issues we had dealt with. We were told by the owner (who had paced the complex too many times to count without doing anything about the debacle until confronted) that " WE could complain to him until we are BLUE IN THE FACE but it wont change what had occurred and that it was a miscommunication and there was nothing he could do about it.." He basically didn't in the least bit seem upset or bothered that we were upset. When we told him we would be leaving the establishment and he could take up payment issues with our principal he didn't even turn around, he gave us his back and waved us off with an "OK BYE" I would never recommend having any kind of business brought to this poorly run establishment. They are understaffed and ill equipped to offer any successful dining or sporting experience, WE are appalled he would treat members of the local community this way....shame on your customer relation skills SAL!!!! read more

I've been here only once and I was intruiged by the electronic batting cage experience. You are able to electronically control the pitch type, leftie or rightee, and other cool pertinent scenarios. It was a bit weird for the kids to get adjusted but everyone found it quite interesting. Apparently they have a uniform place on-site capable of making uniform items, stitching, printing, etc whivh is pretty neat. Downstairs they have a huge open space for running different drills where space is essential. Now, for my two favorite parts, the Gelato stand inside the place offers some yummy gelato (at a price) of course. The bathrooms are AMAZING, great wallpaper, toilets, and just about everything in the bathrooms are either Mets or Yankees inspired. I had to snap a few pics, I'll post them shortly. The paint job around the place is cool too, gives a real baseball feel to it. There is accessibility to a nice sit-down Italian restaurant from within the establishment. I held my 13 year old daughter's birthday party at the venue because of the dance party theme. While there were a few minor issues overall it was an amazing time. The planner Joanne was fantastic and took great care to make sure we had the paper themed products we wanted and even made arrangements for us to provide the girls favorite music. The on site team was engaging and nice but could probably pay a bit closer attention to detail. For example the air conditioner didn't seem to be working and with the girls playing soccer didn't think to have cold water and paper towels available when they finished....I had to ask. As I said it was a GREAT party with dance, soccer and a batting cage for softball. It is a great value for the money with 2hrs 45 minutes, everyone gets a tshirt/goodie bag, cake, vinyl banner, etc, etc. Not to mention the pizza is INCREDIBLE! There's no better word then "aweful" . First off, this is one of the very few (if not, the only) sports complex in the world that doesn't have a water fountain nor air conditioner. They have vending machines that charge 2.75 for Gatorade. The owner Sal is true penny pincher and scumbag. From what I heard the staff don't even get water and have to buy their own. Everything is about money in this place. Save your money and find another place, there are so many better places. I,d never recommend this place to anyone. read more

I had a very important event this October and i need a lot of shirts/ sweatshirts made for my Breast Cancer walk team. I dealt with Gina and everything went PERFECT! my shirts were done a week early and exactly how I wanted, Gina responded to emails so promptly and kept me involved the whole time I will definitely be coming back here for all of my future custom apparel! My first experience with Artistic Stitch was a horror. I went there with my kids and was told I can play basketball at 10:00 PM after I called them up. When I arrived there, I was told that they were closed and the employee who was there dismissed me and turns the lights off on me. read more

My daughter's class went there today for what was supposed to be a fun day to end the school year.....what a DISASTER!!! The A/C was not working, food not ready, staff did not care, parents had to operate the baseball machines themselves. This place was horrible! This guy will NOT stay in business long! Wish they had a negative star rating. read more

Had my daughter's birthday party in their pink princess room and all the girls had a wonderful time. Shoutout to Elizabeth and the girls that worked the party! You made her feel very special. We really appreciate everything! Thanks again. read more

We had our kids birthday party. Approx 25 kids plus adults(do the math) we gave artistic stitch a good size catering order as well so there's plenty of food for the adults. Got hit with some nonsense fees. I.e unlimited soda fee (which they never announced to our guests) and to top it off a whopping $300 in gratuity. Yes folks. Now after all said and done we did drop A pretty penny and we always do for our child's birthday every year. However they did not Decorate the way their website shows. They gave us baseball goody bags after we specifically meantioned we want basketball themed stuff. They had nothing ready when the guests were leaving. Thanks god we had our own goody bags as well. The coffee another mess none of our guests had coffee with their cake and to top It off the milk was spoiled so after all that all the coffee was bad. Food and cake was not distributed evenly. Service is horrible. The kids has a blast. But from the adults view the place is great but way understaffed and Mis managed they have to Remember birthdays come once a year so no matter how busy you are if you take on an event you must make it magical for the kids,organized and at the same time use your skills to gain buisssness from the other parents present. They should get some good management in there if they want to make it. I personally won't be back to throw another party unless they do. As far as the tip on the bill I left it. We would Of tipped everyone individually anyway as we always do. But it takes guts to throw that on a bill when everything was self service. Ask for everything in writing and get all the hidden fees upfront. As I had said. Gratuity isn't an issue we own a buisssness and I believe tipping is the way to go however service was not where it should have been that is our complaint. All this availability talk should have been meantioned when we gave the deposit and booked it not the day of or on Yelp. Goody bags should of been in the room at least when the cake was brought out. Everyone knows as soon as the cake comes out "it's ok to leave" and the parents had no clue there was 2 more activities until after we announced it to them and they still left after getting all ready to leave. Bottom line no one discussed the planning of everything the timing or any of that stuff. Bottom line not many spend close to 3 grand on a kids party(including stuff we brought). Don't get me wrong. Food was amazing. Place is amazing. Organization and communication is key. That is something that needs attention. read more

I booked a theme party at Artistic Stitch for my son's 9th birthday and it was great! The activities were well planned and organized. Not to mention the hostesses were wonderful; kept everything running smoothly and on time, I didn't have to do a thing. The sports complex is clean and well kept. My son was very happy with his party and all of our guests had lots of fun. Money well spent. read more

I booked an ultimate birthday package for my son's 7th birthday party this past weekend and it was great! All the activities were well planned and organized. The hostess and sports instructor were AMAZING very helpful, and always made sure everything was running smoothly. Sal was great and very accommodating. We were invited here for a 10 year old birthday party and the kids had a blast. The staff was friendly especially the workers that assisted during the rock climbing They enjoyed a game of soccer, rock climbing and batting cages. The food for adults and kids was awesome. I enjoyed the food so much that we went back for a dinner another night. The manicotti was delicious as was the pizza a salads. read more
