This is an update. I noticed most reviews besides mine were 2 years old or older. Things to note - George is the owner. He personally handles each customer. He recently moved to the 'Waterways' warehouse area from his prior location. Besides repair he also has parts for laps / lampshades. He repairs lamp socketsC cords, switches, etc. He finishes work on time. His prices are fair and quality is outstanding. He repaired multiple lamps and made new shades for me over the past few months. There honestly is no better place to go. read more

I became a customer of Artistic Plus at least 30 years ago when my husband and I were still living in New York City, We were in the process of building a home on an Island in the Keys and I was lucky enough to meet George, the owner. We brought THE MOST COMPLICATED projects for him to work on. I once came to Miami with a huge shipment of antique copper nautical lights that I got from an old freighter in NY, and George not only completely restored them, but rewired and adapted those old lights into working fixtures that we used throughout the Island as well as our Island home. He is so talented and there is nothing he can't do. When we moved to Miami in 1990, into a house in Pinecrest, George did all our custom shades. If you recall, in the 90's we chose custom fabrics and we always added a fringe of some sort plus beads or whatever was complex. Over the course of these years, George has done (without exaggeration) dozens and dozens of projects. For our home in Pinecrest, we discovered the famous architect, Addison Mizner who designed so much of Coral Gables. Again, we purchased old fixtures and he did the same routine as he did with the nautical pieces. I've never been disappointed. read more

A couple of weeks before Christmas, we brought George in the Bird Road warehouse district a pair of mid-century mantle sconces which needed repair, including re-wiring. Fixing them by the time guests came at Christmas was our hope. A sign inside said meeting a Christmas deadline was not guaranteed because apparently this is his busiest time of the year. We left the sconces, and George called back the following week to say that the work was done and at a reasonable price too. He is a soft-spoken Old-World craftsman-type with a nice demeanor... completely trustworthy... a business owner who under-promises yet over-delivers. read more

I Took my 42 year old crystal and brass, table lamps to be refurbished. Maria took off the harps and said I would not be needing them. For $7.00 I could buy new ones and showed me one. Gold cheap looking I thought. "But these are the original harps, I said can't they be cleaned ?" The owner came over said NO, they will be very costly to electroplate. Maria agreed. I was not convinced and took the original harps home. I left the 2 lamps for plating, and rewiring. At home I used a metal cleaner BRASSO, and my harps were beautifully cleaned. The next day I hurried back to retrieve my lamps. Not truthful, I did not trust them with the other parts. Furthermore, I asked for my lamps back, told the owner that he was not truthful and that my harps were Brass. Not that cheap harp he was trying to sell me while KEEPING the original harps. He was INDIGNANT. Mentioning he had thousands of brass harps. ( Maria was not around.) The owner gave me the unassembled parts of the lamp in a box. He said "You will put them back together?" Yes, or ill find someone else. Thinking to myself that will I will have my original parts, Finally, I purchased the wiring parts, and a cleaned all brass from the lamp. Repaired a broken crystal part that I noticed when one of the lamps was not the same size as I had left it. Youtube how to assemble. My lamps are back on my night tables. This is a family run business . They are extremely friendly and so knowledgeable. After moving, my Spanish chandelier was damaged. As soon as I walked there they greeted me and offered help. After I explained they checked my lamp and asked for my contact information so they can give me a quote of the price to fix it. In less than 2 days they called and gave me a price. This place is great! It is a family owned business that has been around for quite a few years (over 30 to be exact). I have gone on numerous accounts to fix lamps/chandeliers and usually get them back in timely manner. My items always look as good as new and sometimes even better. Maria is great and very efficient! I have seen her effectively attend at least four customers at the same time. I don't know how she does it! read more

My company has worked with Artistic Plus and George for over 20 years and the last 5 years his quality has really gone down. He also has become very rude and unreliable. Unfortunately, I think he needs to retire. I would recommend finding another another source for what he does. read more
