I debated on writing a review however my daughter insisted. We had booked mani/pedi for two- my daughter decided she wanted a full set. I am not sure why but it took two hours to get her set done, the person who did the prep, nicked her several times causing bleeding at her cuticles, ( they had iodine or antiseptic ready I guess) I don't have acrylics done often however have never experienced that. The acrylic was laid super thick and the shaping was uneven. Yes my daughter let it be known that it hurt and her preference however I didn't know this was going on. My pedi was great however the mani was interesting, my nails were file with an electric file that is used on acrylics, not a emery board, which I should have said no to, also I must have picked a color that was older so he diluted it but then laid it thick also- the polish wouldn't dry... mind you we were there a little over 2.5hrs and I sat there for about 30 mins with fans if not more and the polish was still wet. They sprayed quick dry on it and rushed us out ( we were the only two there) . Needless to say... the mani was ruined before I left the parking lot but it wasn't worth the trouble to go back and sit for another round. It might have been an off day I don't know. My daughter was a little traumatized though, don't know if she'll get acrylics again. I did enjoy the arm and leg massage though so it wasn't a complete loss. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures. If you're planning on booking here, make sure you check that the polish is fresh, request emery board file, specify the thickness of your acrylic ( which is always a good idea) and watch how they shape it. It seemed like maybe there was lack of communication or experience with acrylics. They were very nice though, not rude and spoke in their own language to each other and napped on the massage chair- very casual. I probably will not venture here again however I did see some good reviews so you may have a better experience. read more

My nails are uneven and she missed polish on several spots :( I also got Cat Eye nail polish.. which requires a magnet to be put over the nail polish, so it gets a cool shimmer! That's the whole point of the polish, so I got that assuming they would do it. However, they finished my nails and then told me it would cost 10 dollars extra, on top of the gel price i was already paying. This wouldn't have been an issue if she told me at the start of the session, but because it was the end just felt weird and disingenuous. I wasn't going to leave a review at all, and just let it go but my nails started chipping two days after the appointment!!! and I got gel! so weird. maybe they didn't cure long enough? read more

That was a rough go. My nail technician seemed nice enough, but we had limited interaction (which is no problem). I got a gel manicure and on one hand I added chrome for $5 extra. She did a great job, but as I was paying I noticed quite a bit of texture on my index and middle fingers. She took me back to my seat to fix and I was on my way. After visiting a friend next door and showing her, there were big spots (noticing visible) of the chrome effect missing on both index and middle fingers. Since I'm close by, I go back for a 3rd time. And this is what I had to leave with (I didn't have time to spend over an hour & 20 minutes on my nails). Weird texture at the base of my nail and rivets in my pointer & thumb. Cool effect but bummed with the final product. Ambiance leaves a lot to be desired, with zero music playing inside. read more

I would not go back. I am not one to give poor reviews, but I feel compelled to steer people away from this place. The only way this place is still in business has to be the tourists staying nearby who don't want to pay $100 at their resort. The staff are extremely apathetic. My pedicure was done by a woman who did a pretty good job. For my manicure, I got moved and a man did the worst job I've ever experienced. The paint is lumpy, uneven, does not go to the edges, is shaped in a v on same nails on the cuticle -- my husband could have painted better and would've been far more cost effective. I tried to show him or point it out during, but he literally snapped at me to put my hand down. Did gel on the toes after being offered it, thinking it would be a $10 add on. It was an additional $20 atop the $35 pedicure -- price was not posted anywhere. If it looked wonderful I wouldn't mind the extra cost, but my goodness this is bad. read more

I've come here a couple time and I love the nail techs! Always willing to take on your artistic tasks and take precise care to your needs. I made an appointment but came an hour early and they took me right away and even took my mom for a foot massage (she didn't have an appt). My tech did exactly what I wanted with a baby pink to baby blue ombré by looking at the photo I brought in. Absolutely love it here. Went to get a fill and the person was a little rough when using the electric file to take off the nail polish and even out the underneath of my nails. When I flinched to take my hand away he said dont worry. Then sliced my pinky finger and ring finger while filing down the sides with the thick emery board. PLEASE READ: Update: went back to the salon to fix the problems on the nails listed below... WORST EXPERIENCE NOT SANITARY. The files that the nail technician used on me had a red polish on the sides as you can see I don't have red nails. He just pulled the clippers out of his drawer then placed them back in. Same issue with the buffers they all were used. Experience when I went back: THE GUY WENT FROM ONE GIRL TO ME WITH THE SAME FILE. He was filing my skin... ‍ Second issue many of the sides of the nail wasn't filled. Also didn't clean the acrylic out from under the nails. Third and final the nail technician didn't know how to do marble nails. when I tried to mention something he said all of them will be different. I chose the marble nail from their options. Super relaxing especially on the massaging chair and the girl went right to work. Based on the reviews, I kept my eyes open on the owner but I didn't notice any rudeness whatsoever. He was pleasant and nice. He made sure my mom was content with her services. What I loved about this place was how skilled these nail technicians were. My nails came out pretty, elegant and perfect. Our rag tag paddling group rolled in on a Sunday afternoon around 2:00 PM. A few of them were outside eating lunch but they helped us pretty quickly. 2 of us got pedicures, 1 got his first ever manicure and 1 got his eyebrows waxed. 30 minutes later, 2 more ladies from our group showed up for pedicures. We didn't have to wait very long, and a few of us hung around for almost 2 hours enjoying the spa massage chairs (which felt wonderful after the Pailolo Challenge we had just competed in the day before). I got the #2 on the pedicure menu which included an orange blossom leg scrub. They were quick and efficient and didn't tickle me too much while scrubbing my feet. Went to the beach today and spent over 2 hours digging my feet around in the sand / beach and so far pedicure is still intact! read more

If you want the Sheraton spa environment pay $65, if you want your nails done for the same price as you pay at home, wherever that is, assuming you are on vacation...... Artistic Nails was the perfect solution. Now I can get through the last few days of my vacation without looking like field rats attacked me in the dark of night. And, it's just a quick and refreshing walk from the Sheraton. And, after all the food we've eaten this trip, I probably needed the walk more than the manicure. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!! I made an appointment for a full set and pedicure. When I arrived for my appointment, I was the only one there -- literally no one else in the building expect for me, my male mail tech, an a couple other ladies who worked there. I showed my inspiration photo, and it seemed like they understood what I wanted and could do it. I picked a different color since there wasn't one that matched my inspo pic. When the extensions were getting cut, he asked if I was sure about the length like I was wrong for knowing what I wanted. One of the nailed after being filed were also very crooked, the center almost completely to the left side of my nail. I asked if he could fix it and he said "yeah don't worry i'll file it more later." When he was done, it still was very very crooked. I also wanted a french tip, but somehow it looked as if just the top half of the nail was painted the color so I asked for the whole nail to be painted instead. How is it that a, I would assume professional and experienced, nail tech can't do french tip nails??? The only reason I tipped and why this place even deserves a start (I would give zero if i could) is for the foot massage I got during my pedicure. Every time I spoke up, I got shot down and told not to worry, that they would fix it, or I felt judged for wanting something specific. NEVER GOING HERE AGAIN AND I WOULD ADVISE NO ONE ELSE TO GO!!! My mother and I went in for pedicures today. I had a young lady set up to do my nails and a Gentleman sit up to do my mother's when she pointed out that she had some odd toenails that needed special instructions they switched. Mom got lucky. I got screwed. I got the new guy. Let me start by saying if I could do separate reviews it would be 5 stars for the girl who did my mom's toes. Mom has to funny toenails that grow in round and she did the most amazing job of cutting around them and all the pedicure work was awesome. Great color match to her fingernails that were done at a different Salon before we came over to Maui. My mom said she would love it if this girl was in her home state. She would go to her all the time because she did such an awesome job. That being said they shouldn't let the new guy work on actual customers. He didn't ask me any questions about how I wanted my nails trimmed he just started cutting away. He cut the sides off my big toenails so I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up with ingrown toenails. And when doing the cuticle work he cut my toe. When it started bleeding he just stuck my foot back into the pedicure Spa hoping it would stop bleeding. Never said a word. Never apologized. Never asked if I was okay. When it was time to do my polish they called in a third girl who saw my toe bleeding and kept trying to staunch the flow of blood while painting my nails. When it was done and the girl doing my mom's toes went to put my flip-flops back on she had a look of horror on her face when she saw my toe bleeding and also tried to staunch the flow of blood and clean it up, but again no apology, no questions, no nothing and certainly no discount. I looked at all the various Yelp reviews and any Salon that showed someone with a cut toe or cuticle I deleted from our list of potential places to go. Then they just ignored me, and continued with other walk-ins. When they were done with them, 30+ min later, they asked if I wanted a mani. Well, no, I don't! I'm happy to take my biz elsewhere. Its a loss for them - Getting ready for a wedding so you know this girl is ready to splurge! Upgraded my pedicure to the 2nd most expensive available. Would have done the same with my manicure - and wanted acrylics, so it would habe been pricey. Plus they missed out on 20% tip. There is obviously a SERIOUS language barrier with the people that work here. The other obvious language situation was when I asked for white wine, and got red. I was already over this place when a customer from the day before walked in and complained about her nails and how bad the job was after swimming all day. Now I don't blame the salon for her being in the ocean, but they all just looked at her like she was stupid. She walked out and they all just made excuses and said not to go in the ocean. I asked for a dip manicure, as she proceeded tearing up my real nails that I specifically said I was trying to grow out.,,I had to ask for the cuticle care after the lady sanded them and ripped them up.. she acted irritated and then started to rush when she was cutting my cuticles..actually cut me twice.. I never received the hand massage.. My nails looked terrible.. You would think with so much competition here on Island that they would really want to do a nice job!! Not at Artistic Nails! This place is typical to a lot of other nail places - services, ambiance, technicians, etc. - but not prices! It's more expensive here than what I'm used to. I'm not sure if it's because I live on Oahu, and this is Maui; or if it's because it's LAHAINA, Maui...LOL! Everything seems to cost more in 'tourist-y' areas. I walked in with my sister, and it wasn't busy so we got in right away. It was $30 to do a basic pedicure, $40 for a mani-pedi, and $20 more to do gel mani with regular pedi...so $60 bucks! Usually other places are only $10-$15 more for gel. Also, I usually will always request 10mins more massage on pedicure which places charge $1/minute, so $10. Here, it cost $13 for 10 more mins. :/ Also, they do put a plastic liner in the foot tub, but they make a hole by the drain so they can drain the water afterward. I don't understand how that is clean if they are not even cleaning out the tub because any bacteria from the tub can still get in. And I noticed the drain area didn't look clean. There was fungus and mildew build-up (*photo attached). Overall, the experience was mediocre and a bit over priced. Also, when my sister was still in the chair awaiting her mani after her pedi was done, I was standing next to her talking to her, and the girl who was going to do my sister's mani literally pushed her way through in the middle of my conversation with my sister. I thought that was so rude!! You had all that time to start on her mani, and only while I'm talking to her, you just push your way through as a way to get me out of the way! Rude! read more

The staff is very friendly and they did a great job. Get Tony he's nice, funny and does a great job especially when he massages your feet and legs. Place was pretty clean, it seems like a lot of regulars come here and they are friendly too especially for those who are just on vacation. Reason for four stars is you can tell that the staff often talked smack either at themselves or other customers or maybe even me, as I can tell in their tone and reaction. I don't mind people speaking their native language, but at least be courteous. Overall a nice place place... def recommend. read more

It was the day before my wedding and I was impulsive. I decided to get a full set manicure here because it was honestly the closest nail salon to the resort that I was staying at. Tony or Anthony helped me and he was really nice, very friendly. He took his time with me but had to stop when a previous customer came in to get her nail repaired. Apparently the other lady that worked there could not do it to the customer's liking, so Tony had to stop and go help her for about 5-10 minutes. He apologized but that was a bit annoying (minus one star). Being treated like a second class customer is no bueno. The nails turned out great at first until I went to the hotel and realized that they weren't dry. Two of my nails smeared a bit and I was too lazy to walk all the way back to get them fixed. I also felt like towards the end of my experience here, I was a bit rushed. Tony asked if he could go into my purse and get my credit card to pay for my manicure. How rude. Umm, okay, I guess (minus another star). Three stars for satisfactory nails and subpar customer service. read more

I went to wash my hands and when I got back, someone was already sitting in my seat. WTH? So I wandered to the front to pay and no one seemed to notice, so I was thinking maybe the manicure was free? While he lacks in conversation, he was great on my pedicure. For the cost of the basic pedicure ($30), he provided a great leg and foot massage. He used acupressure on my foot and really got some of the hot spots. Nice attention to my cuticles and nice paint job. While he finished my toes, another employee came over to work on my hands. No beef at all with their work. She spent great time in cutting my cuticles. She noted that I had a lot of cuticles! I'll be back the next time we are here in Maui. read more

One thing I didn't like about this place is that they kept speaking in Vietnamese by themselves and made me feel uncomfortable, even when I told them what I wanted they talked amongst themselves in Vietnamese which made me feel even more uncomfortable.
