By our own choice we decided not to have the awning cover the entire deck (our mistake). Over the Fall season they came out re-measured and took our less than a year awning and modified it so it would cover the entire 18x13 deck. In addition we had them install a Hollywood side panel and second drop privacy screen. Our deck as well as our house stays cool b/c of the shade the awning provides and we love the additional privacy and rain protection the shades provide. All of the installers that have been to our house are professional, polite and pay attention to detail.
