My family and I came here for a quick lunch during the week. It was not busy at all. There was only a bartender and a cook, and then I think somebody in the back was cooking as well. Service was quick, and the ambiance was nice. We got the meatballs as an app and then the honey pepperoni pizza. The meatballs were OK, but my husband really enjoyed them, and we both agreed the pizza was top-notch. read more

Nice spot. Sat at the bar, enjoyed some absolutely delicious beverages while waiting for our food to go. It was a good vibe while we waited and the staff was friendly. The focaccia was great to snack on with our drinks and the pizzas were spectacular- the ricotta is the best touch. Aside from getting cannolis when we ordered the tiramisu, everything was delicious and exactly what we wanted this afternoon. read more

New restaurant close to 95/234. We chose to eat in on a Saturday night and were seated right away at the last available table (plenty of open seats at the bar). This review is really a 3.5 so I'm rounding up because I like small establishments over a chain. I'm hopeful the service will get better over time with experience. Food: all items were good and we will likely return soon. Caesar Salad: Good size and flavor. Margherita Pizza: excellent read more

Food was good.... Service was awful... The server was not prepared to be a good server. She did not check the food to make sure they were serving spoons in it when it was delivered, she handled a straw for my glass with her bare hand and the straw was not covered and the most egregious part was she billed me for 2 bottles of wine when I had 2 glasses.. in order to correct the wrong charge on my bill , she had to admit it to her manager and she fell apart. Then the manager came over and told me that she what's in the bathroom crying? And the manager told another customer that I had berated and was unkind to the server , which was not true. The manager, Lupe, then told a couple , that was seated at the bar that I had harassed the server. The couple then started yelling at me.And the manager just stood there. I felt threatened. I did nothing to the server , but asked to have my bill adjusted. Good thing , the couple and I were the only ones in the restaurant. I would never go back to that place because any manager that throws money at you and allows another customer to be rate. You does not deserve your business. read more

Deliciousness - 2.5/5 Happiness 3/5 I feel bad rating this place 2 stars since it's got a wonderful Evan, looks swanky, and I'm always happy to have a new restaurant into a town that needs so many more options. But this just didn't make the cut. The menu options are great, a wide array of fun pizza, pasta, and sandwich options. But the food didn't live up to the potential. The main culprit is the over-seasoned sauce. It is wildly tangy and thick, overwhelming all the other toppings. Also, despite having a gorgeous oven, our pizzas came without the cheese being fully melted. I got the pasta, papardelle with a lamb ragout. I was so psyched to have a menu option like that here. But the pasta was overcooked and very limp. The sauce needed much more meat in it (or at least a healthier serving of sauce when you're serving such large noodles). We got an italian soda for our daughter, but it was too tangy (loaded with lots of cherries though). I will commend the pizza crust, it was flavorful and nicely crispy on the outside while pleasently chewy within. The servers were nice but inconsistent. They disappeared for long periods of time and our food and drinks came at random intervals. I got my pasta about 5 minutes before my pizza (after we watched them try to serve it to the wrong table). It took over 20 minutes for our drink orders to arrive. Hopefully the longer they're open the better they'll get. read more

I have been here on 2 occasions and I sat at the bar both times. The customer service seems non existent here if you are eating here. Both times I have had to wait to be acknowledged and then asked if I'm eating here. No dedicated person at the bar. Every refill of my drink feels like I'm bothering them. The pizza menu doesn't have an option for create your own so its limited on what they offer. I'm sure if I asked they would accommodate but I would like to know upfront what im expected to pay for that option. The pizza is decent nothing spectacular but I will leave it up to others to try. My experience so far at this establishment has not been good as far as customer service. I'm not someone who asks for a lot but is it that hard to check on a customer or refill their drinks as you can clearly see when its empty. The restaurant was completely empty as I ate. Its 12:32pm on Wednesday and I'm the only person here so you would think customer service would be better. Unfortunately it looks like the employees prefer to be on their cell phones instead of dealing with us pesky customers. The restaurant is clean and well lit. read more

Service I ordered from Artisana Pizza in Dumfries through DoorDash and did not receive my complete order. When I contacted the DoorDash driver, I was told there was nothing she could do and that I needed to contact the restaurant directly. I called Artisana Pizza and explained that an item I paid for was missing. I was told my options were to come to the restaurant and pick up the missing item myself or pay to have another DoorDash driver retrieve it. I explained that neither option was acceptable. I paid for an order to be delivered, and the restaurant failed to include everything I paid for. I should not have to spend additional money or drive to the restaurant to correct their mistake. I then asked for a refund for the item I never received. I was told that was not an option because they would have to void the entire transaction. Instead of trying to resolve the situation professionally, the employee became rude and argumentative with me and ultimately hung up the phone. I attempted to call back and could not get through. I've lived in the Dumfries area for 25 years, and I have never experienced customer service like this from a local restaurant. Mistakes happen--I understand that. What I cannot understand is refusing to provide a reasonable solution for an item a customer paid for but never received, then becoming disrespectful and hanging up when the customer asks for the issue to be corrected. This was not just about a missing item. It was about how the situation was handled. I was charged for something I did not receive and was essentially told that correcting their mistake would be at my own additional expense. Very disappointing and unacceptable customer service. I will not be ordering from this location again. read more

Came here Sunday around 5pm with the family. It's a new spot--really clean with nice modern decor. The staff was friendly and the food came out pretty fast, except the pizza took a little longer. We got the Dolce Vita pizza (sweet and savory), which was tasty. The Burrata salad was good--fresh and nicely balanced. The Bomboloni was soft and sweet, definitely a favorite. I also tried the Limonata mocktail, which was just okay. Overall, good vibes, solid food, and a chill place to eat. We will be back to try more! read more

Artisana Pizza: A Masterclass in Overcharging and Underwhelming My recent dinner at Artisana Pizza was a culinary tragedy in three acts: baffling first impressions, a brief glimmer of hope, and a finale of overpriced, underwhelming dishes. If you're looking for a restaurant that boldly asks how little it can offer for the highest possible price, look no further. The evening began with a red flag. When we inquired about the soup of the day, our server candidly informed us it wasn't available because it "hadn't been good." An honest, if ominous, start. We moved on to the Gamberoni alla Genovese, which will now live in infamy as "The Great Shrimp Heist." For a staggering $14, we were presented with four lone, overcooked, tough shrimp, each perched sadly atop a piece of bread. To put this into perspective, Barcelona in Reston serves a far superior dish with eight shrimp for under $10. When I pointed out the ludicrous nature of charging $14 for four shrimp, the waiter had the good grace to look embarrassed and comped the appetizer. A welcome gesture, but it couldn't salvage the insult of it being on the menu in the first place. Bizarrely, the kitchen is capable of getting things right. The Brick Oven Baked Wings (8 for $12) and the pizzas were genuinely flavorful and enjoyable. This fleeting moment of competence only served to highlight the brazen price-gouging of the other dishes. Unfortunately, the success ended there. The Salmone al Pesto ($34) was a masterwork of mediocrity--aggressively bland, overcooked, and certainly not worth its premium price tag. The Lasagna Clasica ($18) was similarly devoid of flavor and passion. But the final act of this farce was the Linguini Al Gamberini e Funghi. For $30, we received a bowl of unseasoned pasta, mushrooms, cream sauce, and--you guessed it--exactly four shrimp. Is there a severe shrimp shortage in Dumfries I am unaware of? Charging $30 for a dish that costs pennies on the dollar to make is not just bad value; it's a joke. Well, the joke was on me for dining there. With vastly superior and more honest Italian restaurants like Ciao Osteria and Trattoria Villagio just a short drive away, spending money at Artisana Pizza is an experience I will not be repeating. Lesson learned. read more

I was looking for different pizza and I located a new restaurant in Dumfries. Artisana is new right on 234 with plenty of parking. It gave me date night/family dinner vibes. A full bar, 2 big screen tvs. They have an extensive wine list. The waitstaff are very attentive. I ordered the meatball appetizer-3 large meatballs covered in a marinara sauce and served with 2 dollops of mozzarella cheese and bread points. I also had the sausage pizza. The food was good and I was excited to try it. The only issue? FOOD TEMPERATURE!! Everything came out in a reasonable amount of time but when I bit into it, it was just above lukewarm. I figured with the huge oven they have behind the counter my food would come out blazing. All in all, a good meal but it would have been great with more heat. I will go back, though. read more

I ordered pizza from here. I ordered online but from the wrong locations-word of advice confirm your order location. I reordered and only needed to wait about 10 minutes for 2 pizzas. I have to say the customer service was excellent-I wasn't happy about the order but the person who helped me stayed calm and took my order immediately worked in my pizzas. I needed help taking the pizza to the car without asking the young man offered to help me and I was so grateful I was wondering how I was going to get them to the car. He even opened my door for Me. So was the pizza good Yes. I had the Dolce Vita and the BF had the meatball-they were delicious! And a good size for individual consumption. I will be back for the good pizza -a the excellent customer service. I overheard another customer apparently the tiriamsu is also delicious. Plenty of parking! Enjoy!! read more

Pizza was terrible. We each ate one piece and had to throw the rest away. Very sweet sauce and just didn't like it.

This was my second time visiting, and it was just as enjoyable as the first. We came by last Sunday around 5:30pm. The restaurant had a relaxed atmosphere and wasn't too crowded, so service was smooth and quick. We ordered several dishes and everything tasted fresh and flavorful, with generous portions:     *    Calamari - perfectly crispy and served with a tasty spicy marinara.     *    Artisana Chopped Salad - fresh, well-balanced, and generously sized.     *    Dolce Vita Pizza - served hot with a fresh arugula topping that added a nice touch.     *    Bomboloni - fried donuts filled with hazelnut chocolate; a fun and unique dessert. Best for sharing. The staff was friendly, and the space felt clean and modern. I'm looking forward to coming back again to try more of the menu. read more

Good but under whelming. Prices are a bit high. Pizza is rationally priced. Server seemed a bit out of his element and the hair covering his eyes was not comforting to me as a diner. It's okay, but there are better options nearby. read more

Inattentive and unwelcoming. No one even attempts to smile or greet customers upon entering. I've ordered carry out here 4x times. Each time they were 15-20 minutes late. No apologies no explanation. Is their pizza good? Yes, very. But honestly, last time I'm coming here. Sometimes, the quality of the food isn't worth the lack of customer service. Did I say their pizza was good? Check that. They were 37 minutes late and the burned my pizza. Great....sigh. read more

Awful - just awful. We came here hoping this would be good Italian - something much needed in the area! But, Artisana falls short. First of all, the service was terrible. The server was extremely awkward. I could normally get past that - but then he kept calling me "honey" and "love" which was just weird, and not at all endearing. After our food came, he disappeared for over 45 minutes, and when we saw him he wouldn't come over. Our drinks were never refilled, and dirty appetizer plates stayed on the table throughout the meal. The same was true in the rest of the restaurant - there were about 3 other parties over the course of us being there, and several empty tables, but all filled with dirty dishes that just sat there. Now for the food - first, the focaccia is not focaccia at all. I'm not sure why it's even called that. It's more like a busted up calzone or something. For the pizza, it could've been better if they used the same sauce from the focaccia - the sauce was obnoxiously sweet and the dough was undercooked and chewy underneath the sauce. (As a Jersey girl - this pizza is worse than chain restaurants - idk what the other review is talking about - this is NOT NY/NJ style pizza in the slightest.) the chicken parm was also not great. The meat was not pounded down, so it was very thick in certain areas and very thin in others. This of course caused uneven cooking throughout. Some parts dry, some burnt, and some just cooked. Overall it was chewy and fairly bland. The pasta accompanying it was underdone as well. Unfortunately, we will not be back here. I can't understand how there are such great reviews - if this was a bad night - it was a VERY bad night. read more

Great pizza and pasta, cool ambiance and friendly staff. This place is a great addition to Dumphries, Virginia.

Awesome pizza! It was FRESH as expected! Mocktails were tasty! Seating is comfortable, clean! They are short on staff which is expected for a new establishment, so you'll need a pinch of patience for now. -Suggest a sign as you walk in that says "Please wait to be seated" since the host was also busy serving customers. She was really busy, along with another server. Also suggest warmer lighting in the dining area to improve the ambiance. They're also hiring! Check them out!:-) (With more staff/greeting@ door, it'll be 4 stars!) read more

This is a great find. The food is consistently good. Wait staff is almost always spot on - especially Ollie.

We had been waiting for this place to open for a couple of months now and finally got to visit this past Sunday. The restaurant's interior is contemporary and nicely laid out. The service was attentive, but not overbearing. The fried calamari was fresh and extra crunchy...highly recommended. The focaccia was mediocre...basically cheesy bread. The pizzas looked amazing and tasted good. The main issue with this visit is that the tomato sauce, on the margarita pizza, is too pastie and lacks the fresh taste that you normally get from a higher end pizza place. I would say that this place will end up becoming a great neighborhood hang out once they iron out a few issues. I will definitely go back and I hope that the sauce gets a rework. It's great to see nicer options opening up in this area! read more

There is one unfair and ridiculous review here - ignore it. Artisana is a solid neighborhood Italian restaurant, which this community desperately needed. I've had the pizza and several entrees and it's all been great. The service was a little awkward at first but they had just opened and that's inevitable-- what matters is that the staff have made an effort and seem to care about creating a nice experience. It's a casual spot but the kind of place you can rely on. I'm glad they are here and again, that one negative reviewer is absurd (and btw the expression is "smoke AND mirrors). read more

We had to try this new pizza place. We went on a Friday night and it was pretty busy. There was a nice bar serving alcoholic beverages and a self service kiosk to place an order to go. The restaurant is well lit and family friendly. Someone quickly greeted us and asked if we needed to be seated. We placed a to-go order for a margarita pizza which took about 30 minutes. I forgot to take a picture but we ordered a medium which came with 6-8 small pieces. It was delicious! The ingredients were fresh and the tomato sauce was great. My only issue was it was a tad bland but still very good. However, I personally enjoy adding garlic salt, crushed red pepper, parmesan and oregano to my pizza but there didn't appear to be any readily available inside the restaurant (we did not ask for it but usually it would be visible if available). No other complaints. Will be back!! read more
