This place has the worst communication process. The staff in office are great. But the constant moving and closing of office is a nightmare. My son has had his braces on for 7 years because of this. He finally got them taken off in January and now we are trying to get his retainer. This has been going on the last 3months. We call ask them about picking it up and they telling us that someone from upper management will give us a call, but they never do. They were paid for. I can't stand this place. Artisan Smiles is worse business. They have canceled 6 months of orthodontist adjustments in a row claiming their new office is not up and running. Why would you close one office without the other ready to go??? Artisan has left their patients without treatments for 6 months! Traveling to York PA from Delco is not an option for many. I was able to get my child in the care of a new doctor, but now Artisan will not release her records (yes the form was completed, it was also emailed, snail mail and faxed back). And we are paid in full! Artisan Smiles has broken their contact by failing to provide treatment for their patients. Dr. John McIntyre has abandoned his patients. If you are in this same situation contact your insurance provider, my insurance provider has credit me back their portion to use with another provider. read more

If I could give this place negative stars I would! This dentist office scheduled my husband to have his teeth removed and told us hus insurance was to cover it fully the morning of the appointment they called and informed us that we had an almost $300 copay. Confused we called the insurance company and they told us everything was covered. We called the dentist back to ask them why they were lying and charging us for something that was covered and they told us we were lying so we called the insurance company while they were on 3way call and had them tell the dentist that they were ripping us off. The dentist then says it's because of people like US that they get bad reviews!!!!!! Hands down worst experience ever with any dentist office in my life!! PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN!! This office is absolutely amazing! I was treated with so much kindness, I was blown away !! The staff was very friendly and helpful and the dentist /oral surgeons were honest and straight forward. I have been to other dentists that made me feel awful about the work I needed and made it seem like I could never afford it . So it was a relief to find someone with integrity. Dr. Panossian is absolutely brilliant and words can't express how grateful I am and how much I appreciate everything he did for me !! This is absolutely the best place in York PA that you can go to ! I saw all these great reviews on Google so I decided to switch to Artisan but it's been nothing but a waste of time. First I scheduled a cleaning and drove over a half hour from South Philly to North Philly for my first appointment. After arriving, they told me the South Philly location was opening the following week (why they didn't tell me this when I was scheduling my appointment and asked about the new location, I don't know). The staff, including the dentist, were all incredibly friendly and welcoming. The dentist told me I had to get some fillings and that it would be the most cost efficient to just do my cleaning the same time. This all seemed like a good sign, although I was irritated about wasting my time. They told me someone would call me with a breakdown of the price later that week. A couple weeks later I called to follow up and left multiple voicemails asking about the breakdown. I didn't get the requested information until the morning of my appointment when I threatened to cancel if I didn't get a response. The estimate they gave me ended up not matching what my insurance benefits packet states and it wasn't until I questioned them about this that it was corrected. At that point, I still couldn't afford the fillings so I went in and said I just wanted the cleaning. Because the new South Philly location had just opened, they didn't have the equipment properly set up nor could they find everything they needed to complete the clean properly (they essentially just brushed my teeth). I was essentially told they wouldn't have been able to do the fillings, even if I wanted them to. This seemed to be more an upper management issue than staffing issue. The dentist and staff continued to be apologetic and friendly. (There was also a note in the elevator that said, "This elevator will make a lot of noise but for the most part it works.") I rescheduled the fillings for a couple weeks later. The morning of my appointment I called to confirm my appointment (since they hadn't called with a reminder). They tried to tell me they called me, claiming they had the wrong number, to cancel the appointment because my dentist is no longer with the practice and they no longer have anyone available for that office. They said they would call me to reschedule, as soon as they have more information (that was over two months ago). When I reached out to them today they told me they still don't have the dentist replaced. This entire process has been a complete waste of time. It's clear the employees care and are trying to do a good job but I've been in business long enough to be able to see the warning signs that the staff is completely under resourced by upper management. This review is only for the York, PA location of Artisan Smiles. I have no knowledge of the other locations. I recently took my 82 year old mother to Artisan Smiles in York, PA for a lost tooth and a second tooth that was loose. We never saw the dentist. We never got past the waiting room. I've seen public restroom bigger than their waiting room.. There were a total of 4 chairs and 17 people (I counted) wanting to sit in those 4 chairs. You come in the door and directly into this crowded room. Wait... the check in desk is directly inside the door so to get into the office waiting room you have to push your way through the line at the desk. Maybe that's why there was 17 people in the cubical sized waiting room. I filled out my mother's paperwork, provided them with her id and insurance card and gave it all to the check in desk lady. She then laid it on the counter. I kept my eye on it because it does have my mother's personal information on it. The clipboard sat on the corner of the counter, with her id and insurance numbers on top for a good 5 minutes before the girl finally took care of it. The television that took up one whole wall was on so loud that all 17 people in the room had to talk louder to be heard. You know were I'm going with that one. Her appointment was set for 9:45 am. We arrived at 9:15 am because I knew there would be paperwork. Then we sat and waited. And waited. And waiting. Keep in mind that my mother is 82 years old. At 10:20 am I asked how much longer would it be. I was told that it would be at lease another 30 to 45 additional minutes. They were running "a little" late. How can you be running that late when you've only been open an hour. I took my mother and left. She was already very agitated by all the noise and commotion in the waiting room. I wasn't going to put her though anymore. Hope this helps. read more

Reviewing the Clifton Heights PA location. Will NEVER return to this location again. Arrived 30 minutes early, waited nearly an hour past my appointment time for X-Rays. Tech who did them made faces at the discoloration of my front tooth when she saw it, then got sent back to the waiting room again. Whatever male administered my evaluation was unprofessional, rude, and imo punitive. Seemed to have 0 interest in helping me, or sharing any information with me like my presence there was inconvenient for him. Made nearly 0 eye contact with me at any point simply talking at his computer. I have tremendous anxiety surrounding the dentist which caused me to put off the visit for way too long and meant I needed considerable work done, including surgery. I was honest and upfront about the anxiety and here's where things went down hill, I was honest about being a smoker. As soon as he found that out, his tone changed from can't be bothered to downright talking down to me. I was there with a shattered molar and exposed nerve screaming with pain in my mouth, for which he offered ibuprofen lol Upon explaining that I couldn't even take anti anti-inflammatories because my knee fills up with fluid due to having both Miniscus removed, which causes the bones to rub together when the fluid drains, I was basically told to expect to be in a lot of pain then because I'm a smoker so apparently can't receive any type of pain management despite that not being the case from any other Dentist, Doctor, or Emergency Room visit I've ever had... I even received a different consent/acknowledge form to sign at the end that included a customized "I acknowledge that because I'm a smoker I will receive no pre or post op pain management" which had to be signed in order to move towards making an appt for surgery. So apparently because i'm a smoker, he expected me to suffer through having 4 wisdom teeth, a shattered molar, and an Odontoma removed without any kind of pain management telling me I have to knock off the the smoking or expect to suffer, nor was I offered anything but Amoxicillin for my already extremely painful shattered molar. I get it, smoking is a bad habit but since when is the result of seeking help from a medical professional for extreme pain and need for surgery supposed to result in basically being punished and told to suffer. Barely relayed any information to me, told me he'd pull my teeth but didn't tell me which or why, and told me to expect to be in a ton of pain in punitive fashion because I'm a smoker before walking out of the room like he was relieved to be done with me. Definitely seems like the best way to treat a patient who came in pre explaining how intense their anxiety is surrounding the experience. Worst experience at a dentists or with any medical provider anywhere I've ever had. You don't punish, brush off, or speak to patients like they're below you who come in for help, for any reason. This isn't the dark ages. read more

This is the worst place ever! Very very unprofessional, they have closed two different locations within 6 months without giving the patients any kind of notice or heads up. And when my daughters did have appointments they would rush them in and out always doing a half ass job. They need to do everyone a favor and just close this place down all together! read more

*They force you to have somebody with you during surgery due to the general anesthesia- this was a major issue for me*. I had to make an ad on Craigslist and deal with no shows and finally found a stranger to sit there and wait with me but I had to pay them. The office is kind of difficult to find and not in a convenient location. They play news in the waiting room which I don't care for at all (having to listen to all the negative stories) Their answering service puts you on hold immediately after greeting you they left me on hold fifteen minutes and did not return. They send many reminders via phone, text, email. The office is decent, fairly clean. Bathroom smelled a little but was clean. They could easily use better scent products in there. They charged me $25 for a photograph, 1$ for a copy of the waiver I signed, $40 for the pills which made no sense as I have insurance and filled then at a pharmacy. They only gave me ibuprofen but it's working so far. Reluctant to take them since I don't take any pills or medication. The people that work there were very friendly to me. A little difficult to understand; there were some problems with communication. The one receptionist kept calling me "bud" like I was a child or something- a little too personal for the workplace if you ask me. The procedure itself went perfectly, I didn't feel a thing was asleep before I knew it. DMD was nice and seemed professional. Absolutely hate being intoxicated whatsoever it perverts my judgement and personality, but I needed that tooth out. Ask this being said I would still recommend them and would return God forbid I ever need to. read more

I was referred here for an oral extraction. I was told it was covered and I would have no out of pocket expense. So I went in for the consultation that they only do on Tuesday's. . The office staff was polite but slow for the appt. My time was 3:30 and didn't get taken until 4. The lady that seen me agreed that it needed to be extracted and as soon as possible. She scheduled me got the following week. They only do extractions on Tuesday's. Friday they call to confirm my appt and said I had a $65 copay. When I questioned it I was told that the insurance denied some of the drugs they use that I could pay the copay or go elsewhere. Insurance company called Monday to advise me of what they cover. I filed a dispute trying to get the drug covered. Insurance wouldn't cover it so I ended up paying the $65. My appt was 11:15, they took me at 1pm. After the extraction was done I have two vcmls from the insurance company saying they approved enough anesthesia that I didn't need extra drugs. I was advised to file a complaint against the office. So bottom line is I would never step foot back in that office. They rip off people by charging them fees that they know are not covered by the insurance. Filled a complaint but artisan smiles said they are unwilling to refund my money cause I signed the paperwork. Save yourself the heartache and do not go to this office! read more
