Took time off from work in order to have a new pt appt at Advanced Family Dentistry. Met directly by the dentist and hygienist who were friendly and quickly took several X-rays as a baseline. Dentist said that I needed to get my old fillings replaced as they were "leaking" and could be further damage. I had a dentist verbalize this to me previously as something that may come up in the future so I wasn't too alarmed. "We aren't doing anything today, we will schedule you for two appointments in the future where we can replace these old ones and we will clean your teeth then". I felt a little surprised and suddenly rushed and wish I had said something then, but didn't. It didn't feel right. What I find disappointing in hindsight is that my X-ray results were never reviewed with me, that absolutely nothing was done the first appointment even though I had taken time off to be there and the expectation that I will take even more time off for these services. If nothing else I felt like my time was not respected; the time I had to take off from work, to get there, and then schedule additional appointments. If this is how they run things then it should be clarified that the first appointment is a "CONSULTATION" and that it is likely that no work will take place. I suspect they make a little extra by breaking up the visits this way and that may be the motivation behind it or the doctor was running behind and punted. read more

Warning: Don't ever correct the arrogant doctors working there no matter how small the problem is or else they'll purposely give you trouble should you need the right paperwork's. My mom took me here about 10 years ago for two root canals on teeth #31 and #14. Ever since then I've had horrible pain and I have jaw problems. I never had dental insurance after that and was never able to check with a dentist what the problem was and it never really hit me what was going on. While getting it done I remember the dentist scratching my face with a tool and bleeding. I was numb and didn't know until I went to the bathroom when I was done and I was gushing blood. My mom asked what happened and I told her I didn't know I just saw blood. No apologies not even an alert of what happened. My fave was numb but I could feel everything they did and my teeth. Now I have a new dentist for about 6 months, it's the first time I've had dental insurance since then. I have been in and out of the ER for migraines, teeth and jaw pain, and Ora facial pain. I've seen so many drs I have a neurologist and finally I saw the dentist. They said both root canals were some horrible. I still have roots in my teeth and the posts are digging right through them. On top of that the posts are hitting my nerves on both teeth. I'm now waiting for surgery from an oral surgeon to have them removed. They were done so poorly they don't want to risk messing anything up with another root canal. I've been in so much pain for years and never knew way. I set up my sons wisdom teeth to be removed over a month ago. The day before his surgery I called to get any instructions we might need. "Yeah we canceled that appointment " was the response I got. I never received a voicemail, email, nothing. Their reasoning was they no longer have a surgeon?? WHY DID THEY EVEN MAKE THE APPOINTMENT?! Disrespectful, unprofessional, and zero respect for other peoples time. In preparation for that surgery my son had taken off work, took finals early, etc. Massive waste of time on a surgery he desperately needed done. Went in April for a first visit and got a work up . I had old silver fillings and the dentist said let's redo those because one them was leaking . I have never been able to confidently eat on my right side since and now am on vacation and have extreme discomfort . So now I will paying out of pocket to fix this dentists bad work. Horrible! They kicked me out of the office when they failed to get my IV in to get my wisdom teeth out! (I ended up going to Brynn Mawr Oral Surgery!) Recently back in August 2020, had an awful experience with an elderly female hygienist. I had gotten braces off the day prior and I have a history of jaw pain (TMJ), she kept forcing my jaw open past what it was able to, I felt like she was trying to dislocate it. She also kept pouring water in my mouth as she held my jaw open to the point I felt like I was being drowned. I don't have a fear of the dentist but I definitely do NOT recommend this place! This place is absolutely horrible. The owner is ignorant and rude and the dentist I was seen by couldn't care less about fixing my tooth. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I left in tears and the owner told me " if I was going to cry then to hurry up and leave." Keep in mind he's talking To a female, half his age, who is at her first appointment. It was so bad that the woman at the front desk called me On my way home to apologize on his behalf and say how sorry she was I got treated like that. Do yourself the favor and stay far away. Horrible experience. Tried to hack my tooth out while I was still awake I thought they were going to crack my skull felt bone fragments cracking. I had to get up and leave half way through. They play TV loud in the waiting room talking about all sorts of other people's problems that I don't want to hear about. Crowded waiting room. Had an appointment the first time and they sent me home said I had to come back. Second time they brought me in sat me down said they were waiting on paperwork before they could bring me back in I had to keep inquiring the reception desk about it. Kind of difficult to find. Long wait at the train tracks. Sign is too small. The first dentist was like shouting at me he spoke extremely loud and it was like he was in a hurry. This is an unprofessional establishment. It has taken my husband 3 appointments for one tooth pull. Appointment 1. First, we had to wait because the office manager was 15 minutes late getting to work and no one else had keys to the offIce. The entire total of $414 was not explained. We simply did not have that total so we had to reschedule. That was totally our responsibility. Appointment 2. We were told they could get the price down to $129. Which was great! But, then my husband couldn't get anything pulled because he had eaten breakfast. Appointment 3. Currently at appointment and they have told us, to use gas, it will now cost $289. And gave us the choice of using Novocain instead for the $129. Why didn't they give us this choice at appointment 1 & 2? Why didn't they just use Novocain at appointment 2 instead of sending us home? Note: This dental office has two names: Advanced Family Smile Care PC Advantage Dental PC 35b Woodland Ave, Morton This review concerns alleged dentist, Craig Preis. I have seen my share of dentists in my lifetime but this one was by far the WORST. I go to have a bad tooth evaluated, scan x-ray & 1 usual x-ray. Both Kristyn and the dental hygienist were wonderful. I was also just treated by my primary for a rash around my mouth that we believed could be coming from a tooth infection & for which I took an antibiotic. Craig walks in & without thinking I go to extend my hand and quickly offer an elbow. He said who he was & they don't do that there. During my entire time with him, he could have been talking to a wall. I was not regarded as being human OR A PATIENT. He says I PROBABLY need a root canal or extraction. I opt for the latter. (The tooth is in the back. Too many appointments needed for root canal and lots of bad press of them in last decade causing health issues - Netflix did a documentary and I had one many years ago.) He tells me he doesn't think my insurance would cover root canal. (I know my insurance is limited in regards to certain procedures but know for a fact the root canal would have been covered but say nothing.) He says I contradicted myself on forms stating I had a deep cleaning and general cleaning. I told him I answered appropriately in the proper spots. I had a deep cleaning in July and general cleaning following December. He gives me a dirty look and says didn't your dentist tell you to go back every 3 months. I reply my dentist closed his office. He tells me their oral surgeon is only there on Wednesdays and he's booked through December. The hygienist advises to make an appointment for him and for the surgeon at a different location and take whoever comes first and cancel the other. Craig fills out referral for Clifton Heights and tells Kristyn not to book with their oral surgeon. I ask him for the second time what happened, first in dental chair, and as I am leaving. He says I think you have a tooth infection (no duh). I say how, when there is a silver filling covering the tooth and apparently he didn't see any nook or crannies with a new cavity. He just says the filling is deep. I say how do I prevent this & Kristyn had to say it again as he was walking away. I ask do I have to worry about my other teeth with amalgam fillings. His reply was I needed to go to the dentist more often. read more

The worse place ever!!!! They stole my money .... I payed for e bridge 2200$ The dentist ( write me if you want to know his name)did a horrible job , I am in pain and waiting for the worse because my teeth underneath the bridge needed root canal only after 2 weeks having the bridge done. He refuses to take his responsibility and I find myself with 2200 $ less , without a bridge and in pain and more money to spend to fix his mistake. Stay away! Unfortunately, I have to give them 1 star. Even that's too high! I went here with my boyfriend so I was with him every step in this awful experience. I know what I am talking about cause I was involved in the experience. I will refer to my boyfriend as MC so they can't say I am not in their system as a patient. They can look at the dates and see his full name. MC had a consultation appointment on July 29, 2021 regarding having two back teeth extracted. Dr. Christopher Smith was very nice. But, he's a contractor only there every other Wednesday. MC was given another appointment to have the teeth extracted. The appointment was set for SEPTEMBER 15th! They said that was the first available appointment. This is an in-network dentist for CIGNA MEDICARE, DENTAQUEST HMO. Hardly any dentist take this crappy insurance so MC was stuck having to take an appointment 7 weeks away. We arrived for the appointment on SEPTEMBER 15TH after waiting 7 weeks and was informed that the appointment was cancelled and the dentist was at a conference. No one ever called or texted MC to inform him that the appointment was cancelled. They gave him a new appointment for OCTOBER 27, 2021. Another 7 weeks. I insisted that they do better than that! So, they give him an appointment for October 13, 2021 even though the receptionist told the male office manager that date and time was NOT going to be enough time for the extractions. He told her to put MC in that slot anyway. (Sounds like that's going to be another problem.). Well on SEPTEMBER 22, 2021, MC went to another dentist (non-network) and paid cash and had his two teeth removed ON THE FIRST VISIT! Now he's waiting for CIGNA to reimburse him because we complained to CIGNA about this horrible establishment. He probably will not be reimbursed but we're just glad this is over. This is the worst place!!! DONT GO HERE!!! I had an appointment scheduled for 4 pm. They called me and asked if I can come in at 2 pm and I told them no TWICE! They closed their office and I was never able to be seen. When I called them to find out what was going on, nobody knew anything!!! Try being in a lot of pain for two days until your appointment and then walking up to a closed office at 3:30 with a sign saying office hours are 9-5! Never again! Great that I get to write the first review! I think more people should write reviews so that businesses will change their practices for the better. First and foremost...I am constantly in dentists offices so I have a lot of experience with them. I came here to get my teeth cleaned and for a quick check up. I had previously had xrays done at another office but switched insurance carriers so consequently I had to find a new dentist. Advanced Family Dentistry accepted Delta Dental and it was close to my house so why not try it? The receptionist was fine...she handed me a whole bunch of information to fill out and then shut her lil window like I had the cooties. ( I don't seem to understand that window thing in the first place). I get called in without a wait (thats why I always schedule the first appointment) and I'm seated. The office looked dirty. The sink that you rinse in had gross stuff in the drain and the ceiling in the corner looked like it had a leak at one point in time. The dental hygeniest was good. She took her time to do a thorough job. I told her that I didn't want to take xrays because I was nursing and I had just taken xrays with a different dental office. She tried to push the xrays on me, but I would not take them. The dentist (I forgot her name but she was Indian) told me that it would be a waste of time looking at my teeth because she needs to look at the xrays. She said that if she saw a cavity she would need to see the xrays to determine how deep it was so it was a waste of time even looking. Whaaaaaat? I've never heard a dentist say that they couldn't do a cursory examination of someone's teeth, especially because they were nursing their baby and didn't want to be exposed to radiation. She glanced at a bonding that I had done elsewhere and said that there will always be a seam in the bonding. Well, honey, I don't think the seam should be wide enough that I can dental floss it. I got up and walked out of that place. I will never return. I think that once a person gets a professional degree they think their clients owe them something. I have been going here for a few years never had a problem. Last week i went in with tooth pain I said it was my whole right side.... She proceeded to check my upper and said I needed a filling ok? I was in so much pain she didn't care until I called again so I went in to get my filling she did ok .... BUT I said I was still in pain her response to me was that I only told her the bottom hurt I said no I said the top too she said well if it hurts it's my sinus which it is not cause I went to my doctors. Now I am 2 weeks later and still with tooth pain. Needless to say I am changing I did NOT like the service provided at all!!!! read more

Then they gave me a call to remind me for my 3:30pm appointment (this is not a typo, but yes they changed the appointment time how it fits them). I showed up at 3:25pm, and signed in. Around 4:10pm, after I asked them why I am still waiting and no one have talked to me yet, I found out that they did not even look at one of their signing sheets.
