I've been going to Dr. Cook since 1991- I had a MASSIVE overbite, and impacted eye tooth and four…read moreimpacted wisdom teeth. I was an orthodontists dream- my mouth is probably worth upwards of $20,000 at this point for braces and surgeries combined. In '91Dr. Cook had a small practice with four chairs and one or two hygienist assistants but came highly recommended in the neighborhood. Now, almost twenty years later, the office has expanded to eight regular appointment chairs, he's brought in another Doctor and two or three main assistants (I know Laura is one- she's been there at LEAST as long as I have) as well as about ten other assistants. There are two things I can mention about Dr. Cook (fondly, of course) First, he calls everyone "Dear" (he's become known as Dr. Dear in my family). More importantly, however, patients will quickly discover the pride he takes in his work- I recently went back after a seven year hiatus because my permanent lower retainer was causing me gum problems and instead of removing it like I wanted, he encouraged me to do it the right way, preserve the work he did ten years back and got me three sets of invisalign retainers (only charging me for the lab fees) to move those suckers back into place, removed the retainer and put a new model in. He's just good- and takes pride in his work. I was reading one of the articles from Best of Philly hanging in his office (he's been named best ortho for countless years) and this year I noticed he'll turn 60- so I'm curious what his plans for retirement are. I hope that after many years of bring the right people in to work with him the practice will move on in the spirit of his work (especially since my kids will more than likely inherit the snaggle teeth that both me and my husband seem to have...)!

They told us that day that we need to see an orthodontist, but we have been seeing one for years, and why didn't they know that? I tried to call today to reschedule an appointment and they can't find my daughters account. Their call center is horrible; always has been, but today is the final straw. We need a new dentist ASAP.

I didn't realize how terrible my previous 5 dentists were until I went here!…read more Had to get three crowns today, and this was the first dentist where I didn't feel like crying when getting the novocaine needle. The doc did a little massage or vibration movement as he gave the needle which I assume helped disperse the liquid better and distracted me from the localized area of injection. So cool! I can tell by this he keeps up with modern dentistry practices, which I really appreciate. He's also kind, meticulous and swift, and him and the staff keep you informed throughout the procedure which I appreciate. Happy to have found a new dentist!

Took time off from work in order to have a new pt appt at Advanced Family Dentistry. Met directly…read moreby the dentist and hygienist who were friendly and quickly took several X-rays as a baseline. Dentist said that I needed to get my old fillings replaced as they were "leaking" and could be further damage. I had a dentist verbalize this to me previously as something that may come up in the future so I wasn't too alarmed. "We aren't doing anything today, we will schedule you for two appointments in the future where we can replace these old ones and we will clean your teeth then". I felt a little surprised and suddenly rushed and wish I had said something then, but didn't. It didn't feel right. What I find disappointing in hindsight is that my X-ray results were never reviewed with me, that absolutely nothing was done the first appointment even though I had taken time off to be there and the expectation that I will take even more time off for these services. If nothing else I felt like my time was not respected; the time I had to take off from work, to get there, and then schedule additional appointments. If this is how they run things then it should be clarified that the first appointment is a "CONSULTATION" and that it is likely that no work will take place. I suspect they make a little extra by breaking up the visits this way and that may be the motivation behind it or the doctor was running behind and punted.

For example, his suggestion as to how to correct a tooth issue was to cut the molar down to the gums and eventually the gum would cover the roots. Another time he said to make the gum bleed when I brushed my teeth and yet another time he took a new toothbrush out of packaging and brushed upright on the gum which I now have an infection from that is to just give a few examples. My issues since going to him is now going to cost me several of thousands of dollars.

The dentist also, told us that my son needed a rooth canal in one of his theet, and gave us a treatment plan for a ceramic crown that was meant to be placed after the root canal gets done. After the visit, they demand me to pay half of the ceramic crown that wasn't even started! I told them I can't pay that money af we didn't get the crown done. They insist that we needed to pay half of the money that day as the thoot was cleaned and they had placed a cap which really, came off the same day. I ended paying a lot mof money out o my pocket wich made me very upset. This year, my son got his rooth canal and the ceramic crown in another place, however, Media Dental is insisting in billing me foor the ceramic crown and also, submitting a claim to my insurance. I tried to speak wiht the supervisor but, never call me back, I sent them a letter through a lawyer but they ignore it. I am preparing a formal complain for charging for a treatment they haven't done, and for all the stress they has caused me due to the harrasment they are doing, sending constant threats to put me in collection agency.

We love Ashley (hygiene) and Dr. Alex. Linda and Maryellen (??) at the front desk are great, too. However - we can't give them five stars because their hours are sooooo limited. No Friday afternoons. One Saturday per month. No late evenings - maybe one day per week they might stay past 6. For a working parent, it is not convenient. But now that ortho is over, we can make it work for 2 cleanings per year.

Both of my children, ages 12 and 5, have been going to this dental office since their first teeth…read more My 12-year-old now also visits their orthodontic office, which is conveniently located right next door, and they also have a separate site for oral surgery. They have always been amazing. Although they can get busy at times, they still do their best to fit us in whenever possible. The staff is incredibly kind, patient, and always honest and straightforward. The office is clean, and while the waiting area is small, it has never been an issue. Occasionally, other patients may be rude, but that is completely beyond the staff's control. Once you're brought to the back, the treatment rooms are spacious, which is especially helpful when accompanying my youngest child. The team has an immense amount of patience, something I truly appreciate firsthand. My son was not the easiest patient for several years, and they always made me feel comfortable--never embarrassed. I could say so many wonderful things about this office. We've been coming here for 12 years, and even though I live an hour away now, I've never even considered going anywhere else--that truly speaks volumes.

The waiting room is not clean and is very tight so you're sitting very close to other patients of all ages. Even the outside area and parking lot are dirty and very tight spaces to navigate - really not ideal for children and just a germ zest pool. The office management is poor, it's literally like pulling teeth (pun intended) to get them to answer the phone. Their registration & sign-in process is disorganized. There are plenty of other fine children's dentistries in the nearby area. Call one of them instead.
