I've been going there for over 25 years for framing of my own artwork as well as for art I buy for myself or for gifts. Kathy and Tim are friendly, honest, knowledgeable, hard-working, and absolutely precise with every detail of their work. They will do the framing the way you want it done or advise you if you need their help. They will not try to sell you the most expensive materials. They will do their best to work with you to get it done within your time frame if at all possible. Recently I decided to price a framing job at Michael's using a coupon I received in an email. They said that without the coupon the job would have been $350 and it would take them at least 2 weeks to get it done. With the coupon, it would be $137. I shouldn't use glass to cover the art, they said. The job required a special acrylic material instead. I had no intention of using their services, of course, but I wanted to see what they offered. When I went to Island Art, Kathy priced the same job at under $60 and had it done in 3 days. Naturally, there was no need to use that acrylic instead of the glass. The job was done beautifully as it always is. There really is no other choice. Go to Island Art Center when you need your artwork framed.

It was handed down to my husband from his parents, who received it from their church in Mexico before they left for the US. It isn't an expensive piece of art but it holds a tremendous amount of value and significance to us. Rather than treating me and the crucifix as a transaction, Jeff took the time to hear the story of the piece and was extremely genuine, helpful, and patient every step of the way - from choosing a frame, matting, and glass to cover the piece. He was very professional, but more importantly, he was very personable and it felt like working with an old friend! I read a recent review on here that mentioned the shop was "completely locked and closed on 11/24." My appointment to see Jeff was that same day and I had no problems at all. Being that there's a pandemic and it's a relatively small shop, you do have to give Jeff a call when you arrive outside, and there's a sign on the building that clearly says that with his number. Personally, I appreciated this, and that Jeff is doing everything to keep his customers safe. Not sure why that would be upsetting to someone - but I'm all about that level of precaution. If I wanted to feel questionable about shopping and risking my health, I'd visit Florida (Floridians... I'm joking!) Long story short, if you're on this Yelp page trying to figure out where to get your pieces framed, rest assured that your journey ends here. Do yourself a favor and reach out to Jeff. He's very pleasant to work with, great at what he does, and good for some laughs. I'll definitely be recommending him to everyone I know!

If you want something cheap that looks ok, this is not the place for you and you may be better off finding something on-line. If you want to frame a valued piece, or something you care about, so that it will look beautiful, then this is definitely the place for you. I like how the owner is always able to suggest a range of different options, so that if price is a concern, you can always find something that is not the most expensive option, but it will still look really good and will last. If you can afford it, I absolutely recommend the no-glare, gallery-quality glass. It is expensive, but it makes a huge difference. Any piece looks infinitely better under a no-glare glass that is almost invisible. I've always been able to negotiate the price, particularly as I often bring multiple pieces to be framed. Their framing services are not cheap, but the quality is high. Faith sells gorgeous paintings, calendars and yearly planners that are drawn and painted by a variety of talented Black artist's. They also sell very cool Black History pieces, like copies of The Emancipation Proclamation. Faith Art Gallery does custom framing as well. It's a beautiful place, a part of this woman's Black History and I'm hopeful that they'll be around for decades to come.

At the time, she couldn't afford proper stretchers because she was a poor student, so she made some herself and they ended up getting quite warped because they were not thick enough. After a lot of research I decided on Barronarts- the prices seemed extremely reasonable and Jeff was great about answering all of my many questions. I'm not an artist myself so I don't know much about the process of re-stretching canvases, so it was very helpful how gracious and patient he was with me. Because the prices were so reasonable I decided to get a floating frame. Let me tell you, I have not found a custom floating wooden frame even come close to the bargain I got here. The frame is beautiful even on its own. Jeff even had to patch up 5 holes in the canvas along the sides and that added a bit to the price, but it was still extremely reasonable.
