My boyfriend is also closely involved with the club, meaning I've been to this little venue a few times over the past year at various charity nights and events, which the Wee Club frequently hosts. Situated in very close proximity to Ibrox, The Wee Rangers Club is probably best known for it's match day hospitality, with a four course meal and guaranteed on site parking for 40 pounds per person. My dad and my boyfriend both highly recommend this. I have had a meal at the club on a couple of occasions and it was delicious. I've been informed that it is made by a chef that usually works at one of Glasgow's best hotels, so it was no surprise when the dishes came out beautifully presented like you would get in an expensive restaurant. I have always been seated in The John Brown suite which looks tiny but can hold around 120 people. You can hire this suite out for a cost of 200 pounds to non-members. The decor of the place is clean, modern and subtle, with reminders that the club is for the Rangers supporters but it isn't over the top or in your face at all. I will definitely be back for another function, the friendly stewards and bar staff made me feel very welcome, and it's ideal for a pre-match drink (or two).

In fact, it's a major upgrade and no wonder the fans are happy about it. You can basically see the inside from the outside and having wandered the grounds in both 2011 and 2014, I can say that while it's still a very small stadium and still could use a few upgrades, it's something to be proud of that will stand the test of time. Indeed, the set up is perhaps only bettered in junior circles by Linlithgow Rose's Prestonfield stadium. Despite difficult financial times for all junior clubs, Pollok continue to attract a fairly loyal support, with stats showing an average attendance of around 600. You can generally expect them to be challenging for titles; indeed, they are one of only a handful of clubs to lifted the big prize, the Scottish Cup, on three separate occasions.

I actually prefer my football at this scale: it feels familiar and safe, with the players able to hear the cheers and jeers, and the fans often hearing the players' shouts. It's a little clumsy at times, but has moments of poetic brilliant- the sort of thing that gets paid so well in the bigger leagues, but doesn't have the same allure when it is so expensive! Perhaps this is just another example of my nostalgia for sport as it used to be (see also: speedway), but this league gives more of the flavour of Scotland's enthusiasm for football than the regimented support of the Premier, in my opinion.

Goals is pretty busy all day- it is floodlit, so even late night matches happen. During the day, the shouts of young and middle-aged men fill the air, and the passion of amateur football is palpable. Glasgow is a football-mad city, and it is no surprise that Goals is a social, as well as sports, complex: it is the best place for an after-work team building session, and the games that I have watched, idly, look pretty hotly contested. Frankly, I am too scared to go back over the fence, as the sounds of taunting laughter still echo.
