I know there's more to Emirates than that, but I feel like I've properly experienced sporting events here and the arena. And wow, it is amazing. It's new, shiny, clean and pretty industrial looking but without an unpleasant cold feeling to it. The events I've been to here are well organised, there are always lots of staff around who are friendly and helpful. On our most recent visit we got a Clyde souvenir for my nephew back in Australia from the gift shop, the guy working there was really friendly and had good chat. I didn't even mind that they don't have card facilities here yet (it's been open at least 6 months) so you get your card put through the old-school manual machines. It made me laugh to be honest, I did feel sorry for him though as he seemed a bit embarrassed. The velodrome has great seating and is a brilliant place to watch cycling - a sport I previously had no interest in whatsoever, but we thought we'd head along to check it out. The basketball is also really good and has great facilities for disabled seating, you still get a really great view even though you're at the back on the top level. The food and drink is reasonably priced too, not like most other sporting events you go to. I can't wait for the Commonwealth Games and will be vying for tickets to as many events as possible, especially here at the Emirates. I noticed when we were leaving the cycling that they had buses to take people back into town. I have no idea if these are free, but they must be quite handy as Emirates could be difficult to get to otherwise (unless by car). Looking at the website, there is also a Glasgow Life gym here and a spa. It pretty much has everything ... apart from card facilities and a cash machine!

The centre is big spacious and modern. Lots of changing rooms and plenty of access for disabled people. I was also lucky enough to get tickets to the velodrome during the commonwealth games (where we saw sir Chris Hoy, I couldn't take my eyes of his thighs ) I was warned before going about the extreme temperatures and wore light clothing and took a fan, which was much needed. It was an amazing experience, I didn't have a clue of the rules but it was exhilarating to watch and believe me the New Zealand team in lycra was an added treat.. Would highly recommend.

The seating is so shallow that you're miles from stage and can see very little unless you watch the big screens. Then there's the toilet facilities - I went with my partner and 2 daughters in what was a predominantly female weighted audience and the queues for the female toilets were 20-25 minutes. Not a surprise really as this is a football stadium which, despite recent events, is still a predominantly male attended sport ! Refreshments - well you had to queue twice, one area for alcohol (and water), the other for food and soft drinks ! Seriously ?? And the choice ? Tennents lager (boggin), cider or wine ???? It's dark ages at Hampden !! Finally, it's location. 3.5 miles from Glasgow centre, it takes an hour to walk from the railway station that serves most of the rest of Scotland. Public transport is limited to buses that crawl through the crowd on leaving and a local train that you'll need to queue for an hour to catch and goes to a different station !! Compared to Murrayfield (20 minutes walk to the city centre and 2 mainline railway stations), Sunderland's SOL (loads of toilets right outside the stadium that can be accessed during the gig) and Tottenham (great selection of food and drinks) Hampden is a dinosaur. Similarly, if you are a SeaLion and you do cool things to impress onlookers, then you do SealTricks. But seriously, Celtic is one of the great teams of the whole world, let alone the UK. The biggest club in Scotland on every level, playing in a palace of a 60k stadium, which includes a Graveyard so hardcore fans can be buried here! That's how much Celtic means. First-Hand Experience: this is my fave club in Scotland, and one of my 10 fave clubs in the world. I've seen them live at this stadium many times, I've also seen them away from home at Anfield (Liverpool), other Scottish clubs, and even in Cleveland Browns Stadium facing Boca Juniors. I can't really count the number of times I've watched them play but it's been around a dozen or more. Most recently was 2014. They're a wonderful club with wonderful fans. Being inside Celtic Park is one of the best stadium experiences for any fan anywhere. Plus they are linked to my fave team Liverpool in many ways and to my mother's homeland of Ireland. So they mean a lot to me. Watching them is a religious experience - and yes that is an in-joke. Since religion is so heavily linked to this club and Rangers. Celtic (pronounced Seyll-takk in the local accent, and never Kel-tic, ever) are bitter rivals of Rangers, and the religious element means the hatred runs deep. The Irish were always the outcasts and underdogs but when it comes to football they are the big boy. Rangers has won more Scottish League titles, but Celtic is bigger in every other way. They play in famous green and white hoops. The stadium is in the rough East End of town. I had a gun pointed at me outside their stadium. Since their first game in 1888, they have never been relegated, which is very impressive, especially now that Rangers were demoted and so Celtic are the only team not to be relegated. They have won the Scottish League 46 times and are the current champs. They're within 10 of Rangers' record. They've won the Scottish Cup 36 times and the League Cup 15 times. In 1967 they amazingly became the first British team to win the European Cup, with Manchester United, Liverpool (4 times in a few years) and Nottingham Forest following suit within a decade or so. They were runners up in the 1970 European Cup and in the 2003 UEFA Cup, meaning they have reached 3 major European finals, winning one. In 67 they had beaten Inter Milan in the final, whereas in 70 they lost to Feyenoord at the San Siro. Having been to football grounds as famous as Anfield, Old Trafford, the Nou Camp, etc, I can certainly state that Celtic Park is on a par with any of these places. What sets it apart is the 5 star atmosphere created by the supporters who are known for producing the noise to help push the team over the line during important matches. Get yourself along to a match to sample the atmosphere, a champions league match is particularly recommended if you can get a ticket. Alternatively you can do the museum tour. I have done it a few times now with friends who have come to visit Glasgow. You get to hear about the famous history of Celtic and see parts of the stadium you normally would not have access to.

You can sit outside with a drink or there are a couple of bar areas were there are TOTE's so you don't need to go far for a bet. It's £5 in on a Saturday and the first race is usually about quarter to eight with the last one being around quarter past ten. There is a newish bar called the dugout and it stays open until 12am, this is ideal to be as i would recommend booking a taxi for your journey home as it can be a bit quiet outside the stadium. There is a huge car park but it would be worth leaving the car as it is a reasonably priced round. There is a restaurant which is a set menu and is a bit school dinners eg steak pie, chicken in a basket etc but it was packed last Saturday so you should book a table rather than turn up. There is also a snack bar which will do you chips n gravy, burgers, tunnocks tea cakes and rolls etc. I prefer going in the summer as its nice to get a seat outside, also its a good place to come for a few pints before moving on into town.

We didn't do any major gambling, just a cheeky wee pound here & there but we did end the night £15 up, yaaaass!! My date forewarned me that Shawfield stadium "isn't glamorous" and he sure was right, Ascot it ain't! However with the right attitude this place makes a great wee night out. If anything it's an interesting place to do some people watching and you can learn a few new sweary words as you listen to people shout at the doggies they've bet their mortgage on! There are a couple of bars and a restaurant at Shawfield but I was on the orange juice it being a first date and all and me wanting to be on my best behaviour (but yes he did get a winch at the end of the night, he paid for dinner after all!)

Tourists would flock and photograph it from every angle, creating albums on Facebook entitled "Me at St Andrews in the Square" to a sea of thumbs ups from friends who like it. Instead, this lovingly-restored 18th century church is inconspicuously located in among modern east end flats and virtually impossible to stumble across unless you are specifically looking for it. And what a pity, because when it's lit at night, it provides one of the most spectacular photo opportunities in the city. Those who do know this building, know it's one of the greatest classical churches in Europe with a truly sumptuous interior. Now used as a performing arts centre, St Andrews in the Square can also be hired as a spectacular setting for ceilidhs, concerts, weddings and receptions. Just go. I promise you will not be disappointed.

It seems to live in a sort of parallel universe, stuck in the middle of blocks of flats. I visited the cafe a few Sunday ago and, despite the sophisticated art deco style interior and impressive menu, the place was dead. I think this is because most people don't realise it's there.

Banners along the streets marked that the critter skeleton was in town and observable at Kelvin Hall from 18 April 2019 through 31 July 2019. I was a little confused as the exhibit hall looked to be part of an indoor sports arena. It was a wee bit of culture shock for me, and I was like - am I in the right place. Sure enough, a worker at the front desk pointed me towards the exhibit. The T-rex was pretty neat and had a lit-up informational display approach. Is it glow in the dark ink or an electronic display, or just really bright ink... Walking around in the exhibit was easy as the floorpan was well designed for human bipedal locomotion. A gift shop by the exhibit hall exit provided physical offerings to remember one's experience(s) by.

I was all set to give Kelvinhall three stars - partly for being such a beautiful historic building…read more(from the outside), and partly for the nice staff who work there. That was until last night, when I discovered that the water in the taps in all the changing rooms is apparently not fit for human consumption. W-w-w-w-hat?! In a sports hall? Where there is no access to water that is ok for drinking (apart from in the gym). I visit Kelvinhall twice a week and have been drinking the tap water for around a year ... I was horrified. You'd think they'd put up a sign at least? Apart from that, Kelvinhall is closing for refurbishment sometime this year so don't expect anything flash at the moment. Here's hoping they do something nice with it for it's reopening (and sort out the water!)

My dad and I love going to the cinema and my dad asked me to check out what was showing in AD. Ok,…read morebit of background and what is AD I hear you ask? My dad is registered blind but thankfully more and more cinemas are catching up with the technology of AD (Audio Description). This is where a blind or VIP (Visually Impaired Person) can attain a special headset from the front desk, which allows the user to hear a description of what's happening within the film. My dad has always been a cinema goer since he was young and he didn't want to be held back by his impairment so finds the headset excellent and it let's him continue to enjoy the cinema going experience. I would normally head to Renfrew Street but I recently got the Cineworld app and it brings up your nearest cinemas. I had totally forgotten about this one and it's actually a little bit closer to me than the Renfrew Street one. I checked both to see what was in AD but unfortunately most were cartoons but luckily Parkhead had Taken 2 on. More our style! I do like a good action film. It was a Saturday afternoon when we headed in and of course it being years since the both of us have been to The Forge, we found the car park absolutely mobbed. I managed to get a car parking space outside Asda. It was an ok route to cut through and will bring you out at the escalators to head upstairs to the cinema. I can get in for free as a carer with my dad as he has a CEA card (Cinema Exhibitor's Assocation). It really is a lot of acronyms in the land of the visually impaired. Unfortunately for me in a way I have a Unlimited Card so I tend to use that since I'm paying for it every month. Anyway I do use my Unlimited Card when going with my friends and man. The cinema is good as it's not that busy, so not much queuing. They have done away with the external pay desk located outside in the mall. It's just full of film banners and point of sale. You now need to pay where you buy popcorn and drinks from. There's no machine to collect tickets, they probably find there's no need as it tends not to be that busy. First time we went I bought my dad's senior ticket there but when we were deciding to go again to see Skyfall, when looking through the app I realised you can use MyCineworld online and get 10% off the ticket. So this then brought the ticket to under a £5. Cha-Ching! Just book online, get a ref code and tell them at the desk. Done and dusted! I can't wait to go back, it's fantastic for my dad and makes it easier for me, as I used to try and describe to him. I hate people talking too much in the cinema and I was feeling a hypocrite. This helps more than probably most people know. Oh must mention the seats, there is a hugemongous amount of leg room, so an extra added bonus. The food and drinks are gigantic and it is mighty pricey but I did noticed they are offering 10% for Unlimited Card users. I still wouldn't buy much, maybe the odd sweetie but it's a rare occasion. We had a pleasant experience and the staff were really nice to me and my dad. We have already decided what to see next. Yay!

The Cineworld complex at Parkhead Forge is a bit of a strange one. I remember going there to see Mr…read moreBean back in the 90s when it was still owned by Virgin (can you remember a time when they owned cinemas?!) I must say it really hasn't changed all that much over the years. It's a good size, though, and never too busy. They don't yet screen any 3D films, but unless you're bringing kids or especially love 3D films that shouldn't be a problem! It's kind of cheap and friendly without the cheap, like the CIneworld in town but without the hellacious queues on Friday and Sunday nights.
