I knew a guy called Rick and a guy called Doug. I knew Rick better, whereas I knew Doug less. get it? Knew Doug Less?
First-Hand Experience: More info about my personal experience at this stadium - even though I go to Hamilton fairly regularly when on tour or travelling, I've only visited this stadium once, and I wasn't impressed. I actually thought the old one was a little more grand and fitting for a club of this size. The facilities are shiny and new, but just not big enough. And the turf grass makes you feel like you're at a training match.
I will go back and see the stadium a second time, though, as I always try and visit stadiums whenever I drive through towns.
So when I was doing my first tour of Scotland in 2011, I also hit up every single stadium in the country. My obsession with footy (soccer to Americans) is the reason. Every stadium review - like all my reviews - are based on first-hand personal experience, usually from multiple visits. As recently as Fall 2014, when I was "stuck" in UK for 3 months, I went to most of them yet again while travelling. I have pictures of me at many of them, which I will post later. Also, when back in Scotland I plan to take more pix, and add more stadia! So watch this space!

This is the new stadium of Hamilton Academical, and it's very modern and cute. It's in their red and white colours and holds just 6k people since opening in 2001. It currently has "Tigerturf" which sounds fun but is actually just plastic.
In fact, the only reason the stadium has 6k capacity is that it's the league minimum. The stand that took it up to 6k is a temporary one. It's a fine new stadium though and serves the purpose. read more
